Chapter 23

The little hooligans all ran away, while the man in the leather outfit darted towards a large piece of canvas draped in the corner, clearly with some ulterior motive.

Seeing this, Ferren wouldn't let him get away. He swept his right foot, and over a dozen iron spikes on the ground flew up and shot towards the man in the leather outfit.

Song Kui, who had just finished handcuffing the hooligans with Xie Bao, saw this and was shocked, exclaiming, "Brother Ferren, show some mercy!"

Unfortunately, the flying iron spikes were not under human control. Before the man in the leather outfit could react, the spikes all embedded into the concrete wall beside him, forming a temporary iron fence that pinned him to the wall, unable to move.

Everyone present who saw this incredible sight was speechless, finding it hard to believe.

However, Ferren didn't think he had done anything extraordinary. He strolled up to the man in the leather outfit and said disdainfully, "Run? You dare to run after stealing my car? You've got some nerve." As he spoke, he took off the man's sunglasses, tossed them lightly to the ground, and crushed them with his foot.

The man in the leather outfit was still quite presentable, but he had a rogue's face. Hearing Ferren's words, he immediately started to protest, "Sir, I haven't broken any laws. This is illegal detention. Also, you broke my sunglasses, I'm going to file a complaint against you!"

Ferren casually took out a thumbtack and waved it back and forth a few centimeters in front of the man's eyes, grinning wickedly, "Which eye saw me break your sunglasses?"

The man in the leather outfit was terrified. He clearly felt that if he said which eye saw it, Ferren would hesitate not a bit to blind that eye, or even both eyes.

After all, if you lost one eye, you could still be a boss on the streets, but if both eyes were blinded, even with the attributes of Ke Zhen'e, you probably wouldn't be able to survive on the streets today!

"Speak up, Sir is asking you a question, why are you mute?" Ferren teased, the thumbtack slowly moving towards the man's eyes.

The man in the leather outfit almost wet his pants, stammering, "Sir, my sunglasses, I, I broke them myself, it has nothing to do with anyone else!"

Ferren didn't stop moving the thumbtack. He sneered, "Which eye saw me break your sunglasses?"

Seeing the thumbtack getting closer to his eyes, the man in the leather outfit knew that if he stuttered, his eyes would be in trouble. He closed his eyes and quickly said, "Sir, I accidentally stepped on my sunglasses."

"That's more like it!" Ferren praised him, then put away the thumbtack and scratched the man's eyelid with his fingernail, scaring him so much that he screamed and wet his pants.

The only conscious hooligan, who was handcuffed, was thoroughly intimidated by Ferren's treatment of their boss and didn't even struggle under Xie Bao's grip. As for Song and Xie, they pretended not to see Ferren's intimidating tactics, as they had also used such methods before, and as long as there was no substantial harm, the higher-ups wouldn't investigate.

For the man in the leather outfit, who was already terrified, Ferren, seeing the bulge in his waist, assumed he had a gun but didn't bother to search him. He casually took out a few pairs of handcuffs, cuffed the unconscious hooligans, and had Song Kui call in the backup and his subordinates from the back door.

Song Kui made several calls. After finishing, he approached the dazed man in the leather outfit, grabbed one of the iron spikes in the wall, and found it wouldn't budge, feeling utterly amazed.

"Brother Ferren, your leg strength is terrifying!"

Ferren waved his hand, "Sticking iron spikes into concrete is like how a piece of paper can cut our hands if the angle is just right. It's not about strength."

Song Kui was taken aback, thinking Ferren's explanation made sense but also felt something was off.

Ferren didn't care about his doubts. When the reinforcements arrived, he said goodbye to Xie Yixin and drove off in the Ferrari.

It's worth noting that the Ferrari was involved in the case and should have been registered, but Song Kui was easy-going. Considering the case involved over fifty complete luxury cars and hundreds of parts, a few cars more or less didn't matter, so he let Ferren drive away.

Back at the mansion in Shallow Water Bay, Ferren, served by the two maids, Sakura and Kousuke, enjoyed a massage bath and played in the water for over an hour to release some energy before having a late-night snack and going to bed.

The next morning, when Ferren arrived at the headquarters, he noticed everyone was looking at him strangely. Once in the office, before he could ask, Dai Yan and the others surrounded him and clapped enthusiastically.

Ferren was confused, "What's going on?"

Dai Yan smiled, "Sir Ferren, you're not being fair, solving a big case with Madam without us!"

Ferren was taken aback, "What big case? I don't know anything about it."

"Don't play dumb, Sir Ferren!" Li Lidong teased, "The car theft and modification gang you caught in Cheung Sha Wan last night, don't tell me you weren't involved!"

Ferren realized, "Oh, that case. I just went to find my own Ferrari!"

"But Sir Song's report doesn't say that. He said you led the operation, and he and Madam assisted!" Shi Yiran said.

Ferren was stunned. The current situation seemed different from what he and Song Kui had agreed upon last night.

At that moment, a female clerk entered and said to Ferren, "Sir Ferren, Chief Sir wants to see you!"

"Okay, I'll be right there!" Ferren replied, then turned to Dai Yan and the others, "I'll go first, and I'll treat you to a big meal later."

"Great!"

Ferren knocked on Chen Zejun's office door and found Song Kui and Xie Yixin were there.

"Hello, Sir!"

"PI Ferren, sit down!" Chen Zejun said.

Ferren sat down and asked, "Chief Sir, what's the matter?"

Chen Zejun sighed, "It's about the car theft gang from last night. Although we caught them red-handed, the Department of Justice believes that the leader, Dong Xiaokun, might get off the hook, at most for 'illegal possession of firearms'! But Song Kui said you have a way with Dong Xiaokun and hopes you can interrogate him to get a confession."

Ferren glanced at Xie Yixin and Song Kui, noticing they were somewhat dejected, and then slapped his forehead, "Oh, I forgot, Chief Sir, look at this video to see if it can be used against Dong Xiaokun!" He took out his phone, selected the video from the underground garage, and handed it over.

Chen Zejun watched it and exclaimed, "With this, we can nail Dong Xiaokun."

Xie Yixin glared at Ferren, "Chief Sir, we need to check if the video has been tampered with."

Chen Zejun also realized this and frowned, "PI Ferren, why didn't you bring this important evidence earlier? If it were before 1997, video evidence handled by a single officer wouldn't be admissible in court."

"Really? I didn't know that," Ferren was a bit stunned.

Song Kui patted his shoulder and smiled, "Don't worry, the regulations have changed. As long as the video hasn't been tampered with, the court will accept it. This time, we have enough to charge Dong Xiaokun."

"Good!" Ferren breathed a sigh of relief, "Chief Sir, if there's nothing else, I'll go back to work."

"Not so fast. Take your phone back and, with Song Kui's assistance, write a report to transfer the evidence and copy the video from your phone," Chen Zejun instructed. "Also, write a report on the Cheung Sha Wan case from last night."

"Ah!!"

Fortunately, on the way back to the office, Xie Yixin whispered to him that the report on the Cheung Sha Wan case could be submitted by the weekend. Ferren felt a bit relieved.

After completing the report and transferring the video to the special task force, it was almost ten o'clock. However, having solved two major cases on his first day back, Ferren couldn't rest yet because the forensic report on the dismemberment case had come in.

Ferren entered Xie Yixin's office, placed the faxed report on her desk, and pointed to a few lines, "Madam, the report indicates that the body parts contain pure horse meat. What do you think?"

Xie Bao carefully read the report but didn't give an answer, instead asking, "What do you think?"

"I think we should visit the Jockey Club," Ferren said. After solving the case together last night, his relationship with Xie Yixin had improved, and he spoke more casually, "We should thoroughly investigate the whereabouts of every purebred horse."

"I agree!"

After reaching an agreement, they called Dai Yan and the others to go to the Jockey Club.

The Jockey Club was located in Causeway Bay, Tin Hau, and Happy Valley, but the only racetrack was in Happy Valley. So, Ferren and his team headed straight there.

After some inquiries and searches, they found that the racetrack only had information on the horses and owners participating in recent races, while the complete records were stored at the Jockey Club in Happy Valley.

Ferren and Xie Bao discussed and instructed Dai Yan, "Tortoise, you and Dong and Ran continue the inquiries here, focusing on recent strange events. Get as many details as possible! Madam and I will go to the club."

"No problem!" Dai Yan agreed readily.

Ferren and Xie Yixin then headed to the Jockey Club near Guangshan Road. After showing their IDs to the security guard, they were allowed in.

The people inside the club were well-dressed, exuding the air of the elite. Some were horse owners, while others were young heirs and socialites there for networking. Of course, there were also those who tried to blend in, hoping to hook a rich person or a wealthy woman through their appearance and conversation.

Ferren, in a casual suit, stood out in the crowd. Xie Bao, in an OL top and loose Adidas pants, though still curvaceous, was clearly not a club member.

They approached the front desk, showed their IDs, and were about to ask the staff about the horse racing records when a well-dressed man with acne on his face, flanked by two models, approached Xie Bao, "Hey, beautiful, you have a great figure, what's your name?"

Xie Yixin glared at him and said coldly, "Police!"

"Wow, you're a madam, I thought you were a model!"
