Féilún's words almost scared Xiè Yìxīn to death. She knew the toxicity of potassium cyanide, but the problem was that her mother had undergone a Botox treatment just last month. It turned out that this stuff was highly toxic!

"Y-You're serious?"

Féilún rolled his eyes and said, "What do I gain by lying to you?" While saying this, he vaguely felt that the half-mountain corpse case and the horse death case were somehow connected, but there was no concrete evidence to support it.

Fortunately, Dài Yán and the others had the true heart of a police officer. Even though they had won the 3T grand prize, none of them applied to be transferred from the front-line positions of the Serious Crime Unit. On the contrary, they were even more enthusiastic about solving cases. As Qiú Zhàoqiáng put it, there was no police officer who feared sacrifice, but they were worried about their families after they died. Now that Féilún had brought them a big win, leaving a few million for their families, they no longer had any worries.

For the rest of the morning, Dài Yán and the other three were still divided into two groups, continuing to verify the chemicals they hadn't finished checking on Wednesday and Thursday. Féilún and Bào Nǚ went to the Intelligence Department to review files, trying to find out who in Hong Kong and Kowloon had the ability to prepare fluoroantimonic acid.

Unfortunately, by lunchtime, both sides had made no progress.

Dài Yán and the others returned to headquarters, stopping by the police canteen for lunch, and exchanged some information with Xiè and Féilún.

"Madam, Sir Féi, we've checked over a dozen school laboratories and chemical plants, but found no useful clues!" Lǐ Lìdōng said while eating, flipping through his notebook. "So far, only the chemical plants in Yuen Long, Tuen Mun, and Kam Tin remain unchecked."

Féilún was surprised. "You've already checked all the school laboratories?"

"We've already checked them," Qiú Zhàoqiáng replied. "Sir Féi, but I think we should expand our search to include sponsored laboratories."

Shī Yìrán then explained, "These laboratories are funded by major conglomerates and are dedicated to confidential development, so they don't disclose any information to the outside world, including the procurement lists of chemicals, which are only reported to their superiors and cannot be directly investigated."

Féilún narrowed his eyes. "What kind of procedures are needed to investigate them?"

Xiè Yìxīn knew this area well and was about to explain it to Féilún when Wáng Yīpéng entered the canteen. Nearby officers greeted him, and many male officers' eyes fell on the female officer beside Wáng Yīpéng.

Hearing the greetings, Bào Nǚ and her group had to stop their conversation and look over. Féilún was stunned when he saw the female officer, and Xiè Yìxīn, seeing this, said sourly, "What? Are you attracted to her beauty?"

Féilún gave Bào Nǚ a puzzled look and said, "Attracted to what? I know this woman." This made Xiè Yìxīn even more uncomfortable.

Unexpectedly, Wáng Yīpéng brought the female officer to their table and said with a smile, "Xiè, let me introduce you. This is the new senior officer, Mò Wǎnníng, who has joined your Serious Crime Unit!"

"Hello, colleagues!" Mò Wǎnníng saluted Xiè Yìxīn and the others, and specifically greeted Féilún, "Sir Féi, hello!"

Féilún replied in a neutral tone, "Hello! I didn't expect you to transfer from the Traffic Department to the Serious Crime Unit. That's quite a leap." It turned out that Mò Wǎnníng was the female officer he had encountered during the high-speed chase with the female motorcyclist.

"How can you talk like that, Alen?" Wáng Yīpéng deliberately put on a stern face. "By the way, Wǎnníng's father is your old superior!" Since the Ma family had been humiliated by Féilún, Wáng Yīpéng's attitude towards him had subtly changed, and he no longer called him PI Féi.

Féilún was surprised. "My old superior?"

"Isn't it the Inspector Mò Bǎi who interviewed you back then? Have you forgotten?"

If not for Wáng Yīpéng's reminder, Féilún wouldn't have remembered Inspector Mò Bǎi. He pretended to be enlightened, "Oh~~ So Wǎnníng is my senior!"

Mò Wǎnníng took the initiative to say, "Sir Féi, don't say that. I should be the one learning from you!" As she said this, she couldn't help but recall the day Féilún leaped over the guardrail. She was terrified at the time.

Before that, Mò Wǎnníng had never thought that real-life police officers could be more daring than those on TV, which left a deep impression on her and became one of the reasons she applied to transfer to the Serious Crime Unit.

Féilún and Mò Wǎnníng exchanged glances, which infuriated Bào Nǚ. "Sir Wáng, after Qiángzǐ transferred, we already have enough people in the Serious Crime Unit. Why do we need more?"

If it were anyone else, Wáng Yīpéng might not have bothered to explain, but with Xiè Yìxīn, he had to be more patient. "Given the recent deterioration in the security situation in Hong Kong, the higher-ups have decided to fully staff the Serious Crime Unit. This order was directly issued by the Chief Inspector. If you have any questions, Xiè, you can go to the Chief Inspector."

Old Wáng, as always, dismissed Bào Nǚ with a single sentence. Xiè Yìxīn rolled her eyes and had to reluctantly accept Mò Wǎnníng as a new member of the team.

Seeing that Bào Nǚ had no more to say, Wáng Yīpéng said, "Alright, you all can gather and get to know each other. I won't keep you."

Mò Wǎnníng had just been seated by Féilún when Xiè Yìxīn pushed her plate away and said, "I'm full, I'll go back to the office!" She got up and left, leaving Dài Yán and the others puzzled.

Féilún, who was not emotionally unintelligent, could see that Bào Nǚ was upset. He called out to her, "What's wrong with you?"

Bào Nǚ, who hadn't walked far, heard this and was so angry that she almost picked up a plate from another colleague's table and threw it at Féilún. She finally restrained herself and left the canteen in a rage.

"What's wrong with Madam?" Mò Wǎnníng, who was still innocent, asked.

Féilún waved his hand and said, "Nothing, she's just going through early menopause."

This made Dài Yán and the others try hard not to laugh, but they couldn't help it.

After lunch, Dài Yán and the others planned to immediately resume their afternoon investigation, but Féilún wanted them to check the sponsored laboratories, so he pulled them back to the office to discuss the procedures with Bào Nǚ.

Back in the office, Féilún found Xiè Yìxīn sulking in the inner room. He was hesitating whether to go in and console her when a few men in suits arrived at the door. "Excuse me, which one of you is Madam Xiè from the Serious Crime Unit?"

Qiú Zhàoqiáng asked, "Who are you?"

The leader said, "We are from the Security Bureau's Criminal Intelligence Unit." Then, they all showed their credentials.

With this, Féilún immediately pushed open the door to Xiè Yìxīn's office and said formally, "Madam, there are colleagues looking for you!"

Bào Nǚ wiped her face but didn't come out of the small office as Féilún hoped. Instead, she said, "Let them come in."

Féilún was embarrassed but had to comply. He turned to call the Criminal Intelligence Unit colleagues into the room, only to find that Chief Inspector Chén Zékūn had also arrived.

"Chief Inspector, good afternoon!" "Chief Inspector, good afternoon!" "Inspector Chén, good afternoon!"

With the greetings from Dài Yán and the others and the Criminal Intelligence Unit colleagues, Xiè Yìxīn couldn't stay in the office and had to come out.

Chén Zékūn got straight to the point, "Xiè, put the half-mountain corpse case on hold for now. There's a major case that needs your Serious Crime Unit's assistance."

This made the Serious Crime Unit colleagues, including Féilún, perk up their ears. Xiè Yìxīn asked curiously, "What case?"

The lead colleague with a horse face said, "I am Inspector Ōu Wéibāng from the Criminal Intelligence Unit's B Group. Recently, we received intelligence that a group of armed individuals from abroad has infiltrated Hong Kong and may be planning a major operation."

Féilún's heart skipped a beat, and for some reason, he thought of the foreign sniper he had turned into dog food. Xiè Yìxīn, on the other hand, was puzzled. "Major operation? What kind of major operation? No specific target?"

"Based on our assessment, the most likely target is the jewelry exhibition next weekend!" Ōu Wéibāng said.

This vague speculation made Féilún connect the sniper with the corpse case and the horse death case in his mind.

A headless and footless corpse, a horse that died alone, and a sniper suddenly appearing across from the bank, all seemed to be somehow related to the upcoming jewelry exhibition. Féilún's intuition, which had saved him from danger in the past, was at least 70-80% sure that there was a connection, but he couldn't figure out the specific link yet.

"Are you talking about the last British Royal Jewelry Exhibition?" Xiè Yìxīn asked, seeing Ōu Wéibāng nod, she sneered, "How is that possible? Not only will our police force's top teams be involved in the jewelry exhibition, but the garrison troops will also be responsible for the outer security!"

At this point, Chén Zékūn, who clearly knew the inside story, said, "Xiè, we have reason to believe that these armed individuals are equipped with heavy weapons, so your Serious Crime Unit needs to quickly start the investigation. The Serious Crime Units from other districts will also join in, each responsible for their own area, to catch these armed individuals before the jewelry exhibition."

Normally, searching for and dealing with armed individuals would be the responsibility of the anti-terror unit, but in the year 2000, the Hong Kong police force did not have such a specialized department. The real anti-terror unit in Hong Kong was only gradually established after the 9/11 attacks in the United States and was officially formed in 2009.

"Chief Inspector, can I make a request?" Féilún raised his hand.

"Go ahead."

"Given that we may encounter these armed individuals at any time, and even engage in a firefight, can we have better weapons?"

"Ha, I knew you would make such a request, you brave detective!" Chén Zékūn said with a smile. "Don't worry, I've already arranged for a batch of long and short guns and bulletproof vests for your Serious Crime Unit, just in case."

Féilún was delighted. "Thank you, Chief Inspector!"

Xiè Yìxīn frowned. "Chief Inspector, what if we haven't found these armed individuals before the jewelry exhibition opens?"

"That would be a problem, but we'll do our best!" Chén Zékūn also frowned. "Ōu, your CIB needs to gather more intelligence as well!"

"Understood, Chief Inspector!" Ōu Wéibāng said solemnly. "I'll report back to Chief Bǎo."
