"WHAT!" Fudge and Lucius were both taken aback. Lucius then revealed a hint of disdainful sneer, thinking that he was indeed still a child, willing to sell the family business to gain the support of the Ministry of Magic. Even if he managed to get out of the current predicament, his reputation would be ruined. After all, an heir who started selling family assets before coming of age would certainly bring great harm to the reputation of the Gullis family, making it difficult for his generation to return to their circle.
"Little Modi, do you know what you're saying? Selling the family business shares now will have a bad impact," Fudge was also somewhat concerned. Although the benefits were considerable, as the Minister of Magic, his reputation would also be affected if he were to take action against a child's assets.
However, Mo Wen shook his head and said, "It's not like that, Minister. I want to take out some funds and technology, and use the Ministry's manpower to open new stores, not to sell the existing business or shares."
"Hmm?" Lucius and Fudge were stunned again. Fudge probed, "Little Modi, do you have any ideas? You know, opening new stores isn't that easy, and the Ministry isn't that easy to decide on it."
Tian Xing smiled and took out two items from his pocket. One was a small pair of headphones, and the other was a marble-like object, which he handed to Fudge.
"What is this?" Fudge asked, picking up the headphones.
"Track 1," Mo Wen whispered, and elegant singing immediately floated from the headphones, immediately attracting the attention of many people. "This is a Walkman, a small gadget I modified using magic based on Muggle items. It can play music automatically. Although Muggles don't understand magic, some of their designs are quite good. I've made similar items, and I think they should have a good market."
Lucius looked at Fudge, who was curiously examining the 'Walkman,' and felt a sense of unease. He hurriedly said in a 'sincere' tone, "Little Modi, you are a pure-blood noble, how can you study Muggle things? Listen to Uncle, stay away from these things; it's bad for your reputation."
Sure enough, Fudge, who was looking at the 'Walkman,' frowned again. Mo Wen, however, smiled and said, "It's just a small entertainment gadget. I think if even Muggles can enjoy it, we pure-blood wizards not being able to enjoy it will make those Muggle-born wizards look down on us."
"You're right. Our wizarding power is far superior to Muggles, and our things should naturally be better," Fudge, who was already somewhat swayed, immediately agreed. Then he pointed to the marble and asked, "What is this?"
"It's a small gadget I discovered accidentally while researching enchantment magic. It has a Stupefy spell embedded inside. When you break it, the spell can be used. I think it would be quite effective for self-defense."
"What?" This time, even Lucius was moved. In the current wizarding world, alchemy was quite advanced, with things like the Philosopher's Stone, which could grant immortality, but enchantment was rare. Runes were usually used to enhance certain magical effects or to imbue objects with similar spell abilities. The technology to store and release spells directly was still rare, at least not mentioned in the seven books of Harry Potter.
"Is this true, Little Modi?" Fudge asked, somewhat excitedly.
Mo Wen smiled and snapped his fingers, and a magnificent horse instantly appeared in the hall, drawing the attention of everyone present.
"Non-verbal spell!" Lucius's pupils constricted, and he subconsciously gripped his wand.
Mo Wen crushed the marble in his hand, and a red light shot towards the horse, felling it with a single strike.
"Excellent, Little Modi, you are truly a genius. Not only have you mastered non-verbal spells at a young age, but you also have such a profound understanding of the obscure field of enchantment magic. Your future is boundless, worthy of being a child of the Gullis family." Fudge was overjoyed. Unlike the entertainment gadgets, this item could be a powerful weapon. After all, no one ever had too much protection, and Aurors and pure-blood families would all need it. Controlling this item would mean winning the support of most Aurors and pure-blood nobles.
The surrounding nobles also had a gleam in their eyes, clearly realizing the value of this item. Some families who had brought their daughters even whispered to them, and the noble ladies looked at Mo Wen with shining eyes.
Lucius, however, felt a chill in his heart. He realized he had lost his chance to deal with the Gullis family. After today, countless people would vie to approach the Gullis family, and the Gullis family would no longer have the disadvantage of lacking connections. He could no longer control the Gullis family.
But the blow to Lucius didn't stop there. Fudge asked, "So, Little Modi, how do you plan to cooperate with the Ministry?"
Mo Wen bowed slightly and said, "Minister, this is my plan. Our Gullis family will provide the funds and technology, while the Ministry will handle sales and security. As for the profits, we will split them fifty-fifty. By the way, since many of my products involve Muggle items, it would be best to have a member of the Misuse of Muggle Artifacts Office in charge. I heard there's a pure-blood member named Weasley there. Why don't we have him take charge? First, I heard his family's situation isn't good, and since we are all pure-bloods, we should help each other. Second, he is a pure-blood, so he should be more 'favorable' towards us."
Fudge pondered for a moment. He had no complaints about the profit-sharing arrangement. The Ministry of Magic would almost be getting something for nothing, and a fifty-fifty split was already quite good. The only concern was the person in charge. Weasley had almost no sense of pure-blood honor and was a supporter of Dumbledore. However, Fudge thought it might be better to use Weasley. First, he had no roots, making him easier to control. Second, although he was Dumbledore's man, Dumbledore probably wouldn't be able to interfere in this matter, while the pure-blood families would need to be wary. With Weasley, who was at odds with the pure-bloods, there was no need to worry about him being bought off. He decided, "Alright, everything will be as you say, fifty-fifty split, and Weasley will be in charge."
Lucius felt a wave of dizziness. His conflict with Weasley was well-known among pure-blood wizards. If Weasley were in charge, his family would gain no benefits, and there was a good chance Weasley would deliberately oppose him once he became influential.
After further discussion with Fudge, Mo Wen coldly watched the dispirited Lucius. Although he had used his scientific knowledge from his previous life and the magical knowledge he had gained to create the Walkman and the enchanted marble, which helped him through this crisis and caused significant trouble for Malfoy, he felt it was too lenient to let Lucius off so easily.
