Chapter 20 of 104

Ch20 - [Eating together] A variety of foods

6 min read1,552 words

The restaurant was located on a popular old street in the outer radius of LuoRi Volcano.

The old street was very well known online, but the location was extremely remote. Many tourists, who disdained items in scenic shops for being too high priced and have done their research on delicious foods nearby, would ultimately decide to walk half an hour over to the old street to spend their money.

Upon learning of the restaurant’s rather reasonable pricing, Sirius was somewhat surprised.

Nalun noticed the change in his expression and said educationally: “What’s important about food is its taste, not the appearance of the shop or the price.”

Sirius declined to comment.

These words weren’t wrong. However, coming from the mouth of a certain picky individual, it still felt somewhat strange.

Speaking of food, the stomach of the Honored Prince, who had been worried and tense for almost half the day, has long been growling in starvation. Nalun glanced at the speed display on the front of Sirius’s car and said with furrowed brows: “A bit slow.”

The car was in an automatic state. The route and speed has already been set. Right now, the two people were both resting against their seats in relaxation.

Sirius: “Which speed are you used to? I'm fine with any.”

Thus, Nalun leaned over halfway and used his finger to poke at the display panel. He increased the speed by two gears. After clicking the verify button, the car shot out with a ‘whoosh’.

“Truly worthy of being the newest model of R grade sports cars. So fast.” Nalun’s expression was very reserved: “There’s even several gears of speed. Mind if I try?”

Sirius was very understanding: “Not at all. We can even change seats.”

The two people didn’t change seats however. Leaning over, Nalun quickly pressed a few times with his fingers. When the last gear launched, the entire car trembled for 3 seconds and then charged forward like a roller coaster going downhill.

Sirius: “……”

Nalun’s grayish-green eyes were practically beaming with light.

Consequently, the originally planned route, which took 30 minute, only took 8 minutes to complete.

Nalun got out of the car in full satisfaction and led Sirius into a private room that he had booked in advance with his personal comp.

The two person private room was illuminated with a dim yellow light. Soothing light music flowed gently in the air. Nalun accepted the menu handed over by the waiter. After selecting, he handed it back. After the waiter withdrew, only he and Sirius remained in the room, sitting facing each other.

Nalun hesitated a moment before opening the conversation: “All of those soldiers on Langdon street were to guard the bug?”

Sirius: “He’s an Insectoid.”

Even if he were an Insectoid, there’s no need to mobilize the military over to watch him, right?

As if understanding the bewilderment in Nalun’s heart, Sirius said: “The Scepter was also snatched away by an Insectoid.”

Nalun digested the information and instantly understood: “You suspect that the Scepter was stolen by the Metal-devouring bug?”

Sirius shook his head: “Not stolen, snatched away. His Majesty exchanged blows with that person. Fortunately he didn’t get hurt.”

Nalun: “…….”

He really couldn’t imagine the scene of Xi Jin and his Majesty, the Emperor, exchanging blows.

However, the scene of Xi Jin exchanging blows with Sirius was still vivid in his mind– It seemed like other than running away very fast with 8 legs, there weren’t any other remarkable areas. If having good acting skills gave points, then Xi Jin’s battle strength could reach 6.

Out of a full point of 100.

Therefore, he snorted disdainfully at Sirius’s suspicion.

If Xi Jin could snatch away the Scepter, then he’d change his last name to Monte.

Sirius threw out another piece of information: “The Insectoid should have an insider within the Empire.”

Nalun looked towards him.

Sirius asked: “Who do you think this could be?”

Nalun had a puzzled expression.

Who could it be?

In the last few days, he’s been busy preventing a certain thing from being exposed and taking great efforts to cover up the truth. He had no energy to think about anything else.

He also felt somewhat unfathomable: “Why would I know?”

At this time, there was a knock on the door. Several waiters entered the private room pushing food carts. They started to spread the table for them.

Nalun had selected a variety of foods. There were the restaurant’s signature dishes, and also popular classic dishes. There was also a plate of delicate pastries.

The red wine that Sirius selected was also placed on the table. However, his gaze landed on the unknown green beverage in front of Nalun.

Sirius: “This juice looks very special.”

Nalun followed his gaze over and thought: Of course, this is the restaurant’s special beverage, with a wave of positive ratings, a must have of the shop. Therefore, he said for courtesy’s sake: “Want to switch?”

Sirius nodded, truly looking rather interested.

Nalun: “……”

As a result, he could only watch wide-eyed as the beverage in his hand was taken away.

Sirius took a sip: “Tastes pretty good.”

Nalun: “……”

Before the Honored Prince’s silent, bitter gaze took a physical form, Sirius returned to the interrupted topic of conversation: “What were we talking about just now? Insider. That’s right. Other than an insider, he also has an accomplice.”

Nalun: “Oh, an accomplice.”

He stabbed into a piece of barbecue meat and stuffed it into his mouth. The delicious taste spread across his tongue. Precisely like the ratings online, its flavor was excellent and unique.

Sirius: “I just exchanged blows with him today.”

Nalun halted faintly, knife and fork in his hands: “How is he?”

Sirius almost looked as if he smiled briefly: “Pretty unforgettable.”

Nalun stuffed another piece of barbecue into his mouth and then put down his fork and knife. He stared directly at Sirius, quietly waiting for more.

Sirius: “I already let him escape twice.”

Nalun praised sincerely: “Then he must be very smart and very impressive.”

Sirius rubbed his chin and gave a related evaluation: “His utterly serious manner while making up wild nonsense is extremely amusing.”

Nalun: “……” Amusing?

Sirius picked up his fork and knife and got ready to eat. Seeing the person across from him motionless, he asked: “What’s the matter?”

Nalun took a sip of red wine. The astringent taste filled his mouth, covering and dispersing the delicious and wonderful flavor of the previous barbecue: “So right now the situation is, there’s an Insectoid who infiltrated into the banquet and snatched the Scepter from His Majesty’s hands. Not only this, he even has an insider and an accomplice inside the Empire…… Do you have a list of suspects?”

Sirius: “Currently investigating.”

Nalun refused to believe it and said mockingly: “Aren’t the guards investigating your one-night-stand?”

Nalun then said: “I’ve heard a bit about this matter. I must say, with your background, very few people would avoid you and hide. If the other party is unwilling to step forth, it’s very likely that he has some unspeakable troubles. For example, he’s already married? He already loves someone else? Or perhaps, he feels like he’s not worthy of you…… Age, appearance, even status, all of these different aspects, you must know that under inebriation, people become less picky about their partner.”

Sirius: “…….”

Nalun, sincerely and heartfelt: “Sometimes, discovering the truth isn’t actually a good thing. If the other person was a decrepit old man…… uh, I’m only giving the worst possible hypothesis. In any case, for this kind of thing, it’s best to let nature take its course. There’s no need to search deeply for a result.”

Sirius fell silent for a long time, his lowered eyes dark, as if filled with a deep emotion.

“Your words are correct, but I still want to find him.”

Nalun didn’t understand: “Why?” Where was this stubbornness coming from!

Sirius shook his head, not answering the question.

“However…… it shouldn’t be related to his personal background.”

Nalun became defensive.

Sirius raised his right hand slightly, gaze landing on his own palm: “Although I can’t remember his appearance clearly……”

Nalun’s eyelids twitched wildly. He suddenly had a terrible feeling.

Sirius: “His skin was smooth like satin. He had a very beautiful body. His sobbing cries must be very enchanting. Because whenever I think about this, I’d always feel…… a bit different.”

A metal fork touched the plate, letting out a sharp, crisp sound.

Nalun, expressionlessly: “Sorry, I’m not used to discussing this kind of topic with others during a meal.”

This kind of topic?

Intermingling in the barracks for many years and having witnessed all sorts of teasing and jokes between men, Sirius would occasionally become influenced as well. However, this clearly wasn’t something suited for the Honored Prince, who had grown up accepting the advanced etiquette classes of aristocrats.

Sirius gazed into the other person’s cold and stern expression. His attention, however, was attracted to the tips of the other’s ears, which were bright red.

The dark haired Admiral took another sip of the green beverage, a hint of interest flowing in the depth of his eyes– The usually hostile Honored Prince of his memories… seemed much more pleasing to the eye with this occasionally embarrassed look.
