The most improbable was often the truth.
On more than one occasion, Sirius had suspected that Nalun was colluding with Insectoids. For a while, he even suspected that the Metal Devouring Bug’s accomplice, the “Mist Bug”, was being harbored by the Honored Prince, hiding himself inside the Charvey estate.
Sirius couldn’t find any suspicious individuals checking into any of the hotels inside the Imperial Capital. For this, he even searched through the cameras of every main street. He discovered that every time, that person would always vanish around Hailin Street. The Charvey Estate just happened to be located right at the center of Hailin Street.
Every time a mishap occurred to the Mist Bug, causing him to land in a dangerous predicament, Nalun would always appear coincidentally, be it that time with Langdon Street, or on the day of the date.
Although he always said that the Mist Bug spoke nothing but lies, Sirius had no choice but to admit, he was almost misled. For a long time, he didn’t even consider the possibility of the Mist Bug being Nalun. He only thought Nalun was colluding with the Insectoids and was connected to the Scepter case.
Until Nalun’s holes grew more and more……
Reality proved that he had thought wrong.
Nalun was the one-night-stand that he’d been searching for all this time.
The person that night, who was as unfortunate as himself, to fall to the Princess’s scheme, was Nalun. However, Nalun came out worse than himself.
Sirius didn’t have many memories of that night. Perhaps due to the effect of the drug, he could only remember some fuzzy images faintly. He knew that he had placed the Ring of the Head of the Monte family on that person.
Recalling how he had actually topped such a prideful person…… and while delirious and inebriated, even crudely placed his ring in a certain unspeakable area……
Sirius couldn’t resist rubbing his nose in guilt.
“No wonder he detested me so much.” After feeling guilty, the Admiral started laughing shamelessly.
Now that he was thinking about it, the pile of random unfathomable things that Nalun did… it’s probably only to cover this up.
As for how Nalun had managed to get mixed up with the Metal Devouring Bug? When the time comes, Sirius can interrogate the Metal Devouring Bug instead. He looked much more honest.
In his deep sleep, Nalun’s head nodded. This sleeping posture wasn’t very comfortable. Therefore, Sirius reached out a hand and supported his fluffy head.
In a flash, Sirius recalled the confession that Big Beard spoke to him that day in front of the onsen clubhouse. Seeing Nalun’s serious, sleeping face, Sirius felt almost like his heart was scratched softly by something.
— He really wanted to see how this guy looked under the beard at that time.
Sometimes, Nalun Charvey was truly a mystery.
While the sleeping drug was still in effect, Sirius grabbed the grubby paw that hung soft and limp by Nalun’s side, raised it to his mouth and placed a kiss on it. He said in a gentle tone:
“The extraordinarily deceitful Honored Prince-dianxia, your tricks have been unraveled.”
The aircraft reached the courthouse very quickly. Diya and the rest of the people were already waiting ahead at the entrance. Seeing the aircraft land but no movements afterwards, they couldn’t help but feel strange.
Andrew also rushed over. After waiting for a while, he asked: “How come they still haven’t come out yet?”
Diya guessed: “Could it be that they’ve started fighting?
“No problem. Nalun is no match for the Admiral.” Andrew stood steady again, not particularly worried.
Diya narrowed his eyes: “But I feel like it’s not that simple.”
The two people looked at each other.
Diya: “Don’t you think these two people are acting stranger and stranger?”
Andrew nodded.
“How about we go over and ask?” Diya, eagerly: “Or come up with a plan to check things out?”
Andrew refused decisively: “I’m not participating. Don’t even think about making me come with you.”
Diya was very disappointed. His history of countless failed persuasions made him feel like life was a little too lacking in entertainment. He urgently hoped to have a little buddy who would advance and retreat together with him.
After a very long time, the cabin door finally opened.
The topic of their conversation, Sirius Monte, was currently carrying his liar. He appeared in front of the crowd with a calm and composed expression.
Nalun’s figure was tall and slender. Actually, he wasn’t suited to be carried horizontally. Just his two long legs made people feel an awkward predicament about where to place them. However, the person holding him was Sirius. Therefore, not only did this image not look inappropriate, it was even somewhat…… unexpectedly harmonious?
Diya felt his eyelids twitch.
In any case, Sirius carried Nalun down from the aircraft and while passing them, he even instructed them to prepare some delicious food. Oh, the fruits can go.
Diya said in a complicated mood ‘okay, no problem’ and then watched together with Andrew as his boss left.
“Speaking honestly, do you think we’ll gain an Admiral’s wife in the future?” Diya held worry in his eyes.
Andrew replied with an ‘en’.
Diya covered his face: “I originally thought that having this kind of immediate superior was already the greatest test to me.”
However, now he was suspecting the future will be welcoming an even more demanding and ill-tempered Superior’s Wife.
Andrew picked up his foot and marched forward.
Diya froze: “–Where are you going?”
“To prepare food.” Andrew said expressionlessly: “And then wait for the trial tomorrow.”
When Nalun woke up, his head felt particularly refreshed. A day’s worth of exhaustion was mostly swept away. He was surprised that he had actually fallen asleep on the aircraft. Holding his head and untangling from the blankets, he started to examine his surroundings.
This was a simply designed room. There wasn’t a lot of furniture inside. The lighting wasn’t that bright.
He found the switch and adjusted the illumination. Instantly, he could see clearer.
“Awake?”
Nalun jumped in fright and abruptly turned his head around. He saw Sirius sitting in a resting chair next to the bed, holding a lit up personal comp in his hand, and looking concentrated at him.
“Why are you here?”
“You slept two hours.” Sirius explained what happened after he fell asleep: “This is the reception area of the courthouse. In 8 hours, you’ll receive your first round of cross-examination.”
Nalun scrutinized him and said: “Then I’ll rest a bit more. You can leave.”
Sirius tapped on his person comp with a finger and rejected without even raising his head: “You’re a criminal suspect right now and I’m in charge of watching you.”
Nalun stopped moving: “You can order people to guard the door!”
Sirius shook his head: “I like doing it personally myself.”
Doing it personally yourself?
How come he didn’t know Sirius had this kind of hobby– Personally guarding next to a suspect’s bed to watch them?
Lifting the blankets, Nalun was about to get up and retort…… when he shockingly discovered that he wasn’t actually wearing any pants. The coat he was wearing was also gone?!
“What did you do?”
Sirius looked somewhat confused at his affronted attitude and asked back: “I helped you take your clothes off. Or are you saying you wanted to wear them while sleeping?”
He pointed at the clothes, which were ripped by thorns and also covered in dirt and mud. He said thoughtfully: “I already told someone to prepare new clothes for you.”
“…….” Nalun opened his mouth and closed it. He discovered that the reason the other provided seemed to make sense and had no areas of criticism.
Withdrawing back inside the blankets with a stiff face, Nalun secretly reached out and touched his chest. He discovered that his shirt was still buttoned up well and unconsciously let out a breath of relief.
“The Imperial Admiral is this idle?”
Sirius indicated to his personal comp: “I’m busy right now.”
Busy?
Nalun was just getting prepared to say something when Sirius raised a finger and pressed it to his lips: “Shh. Continue sleeping. If you’re hungry, there’s food in the thermo case.”
“…….” Nalun strangely had a stifled feeling like he’s being treated like a small child!
Nalun cursed a few times internally as he fell back into the blankets again. He flipped over and turned his back to Sirius– Was he supposed to jump at disturbing the Admirals' myriad of daily problems?
Holding in this chest full of indignance, Nalun closed his eyes and cursed Sirius out from head to toe. After a while, he discovered that he was waking up more and more. His stomach was also somewhat hungry.
Turning over and getting out the bed, Nalun ignored a certain busy-working guardian and silently flipped through the thermo case.
“……”
The dazzling display of food in the case was astonishing. From main dishes to dessert, the food was rich with variety and looked extremely tempting.
He picked a meatball soup, then took out a bowl of baked cheese rice. Thinking for a moment, he then selected a portion of fried chicken. Before he left, he even saw his favorite vanilla cake.
Nalun: “…….”
A starving person was avaricious and insatiable.
He decided to take them all!
To the side, Sirius silently watched as a certain bare-legged Honored Prince carried away portions enough for several people, and then sat down quietly at the table to eat.
— Seems to have a bigger appetite than he had expected.
He lowered his head and casually poked his personal comp with a finger– the screen flashed, screenshotting a certain black-haired man, who was secretly licking his fingers.
Sirius smiled in satisfaction.
Nalun’s table manners weren’t unsightly at all. Even though he ate very rapidly, his movements were very elegant. Even if there were some secret little maneuvers occasionally, it’s hard to give people a crude impression.
How beautiful.
The Admiral’s smile was even more apparent.
After Nalun ate pretty much everything, Sirius finally lowered his head and continued to deal with his ‘proper business’.
“Where’s my personal comp?” Nalun, who finished eating his late-night snack, wanted to read the news online.
Sirius looked away from the screen. What entered his view was a pair of fair white, long legs; then looking up was the long hems of the dark colored shirt.
“You mean this?” He carefully controlled his tone and calmly took out a certain item, waving it at Nalun.
Nalun: “!!!”
The communication device!
He swiftly reached out and attempted to snatch it back.
Sirius was even faster. He withdrew his hand, causing Nalun to grab the empty air.
Nalun: “…….”
“Hmm? I never thought you’d also use this.” Sirius said in surprise. Personal comps were all purposeful. Communication devices were only owned by a niche group of individuals. For a dignified Honored Prince to use a communication device, it didn’t quite make sense.
Nalun said coldly: “Give it back to me.”
Sirius handed it over to him. A moment later, he pulled out another familiar item– the Honored Prince’s personal comp.
Nalun’s face fell.
Good thing the Admiral very quickly handed the personal comp over and even said sincerely: “Ordinarily, I shouldn’t be providing you with any means of communication, as you’re in a special situation right now. However, I trust you.”
Nalun: “Oh, then don’t stay here anymore. It’s not like I’ll escape.”
Sirius: “……”
Just looking at his face, Nalun knew there was no chance. He gave a cold sneer towards this paper glue-like trust!
After he took back his personal comp, he discovered that his message box was about to explode.
The speed at which news disseminated amongst the Imperial Capital’s aristocrats was shocking. In a short while, his family and friends all sent over messages asking about his well-being. Nalun replied one by one and discovered that Alida didn’t send him any messages.
Nalun sighed. Who knows if Alida knew about Lan Jia’s true identity or not.
Although Sirius said he trusted Nalun, and thus genuinely did not check his messages, Nalun still didn’t feel completely safe. After he finished replying to his messages, he placed the personal comp to the side. The communication device, he didn’t touch at all.
He definitely didn’t want to take risks right under Sirius’s eyelids.
The room was silent, without a sound. The two people involved didn’t know that online, a powerful gossip regarding them was currently fermenting.
Princess Shasha finally recovered from her blow and signed into her social account. Countless tactful and/or direct inquiries exploded her message notifications.
At the opening ceremony of the Hunting Festival, just who was the person that bullied her?
“Nalun Charvey!”
The resounding, powerful exclamation mark expressed the little Princess’s inner fury and indignance. One could practically imagine her furious look through the screen.
Receiving an answer, the vast amount of fangirls all shook their heads. This name sounded somewhat familiar?
Someone finally reacted and expressed in astonishment: “Charvey? The Honored Prince!”
Once these words appeared, the crowd started conversing.
“Who’s that? A bigwig of the Imperial Capital?”
“I think I remember something. I recall that he and the Admiral weren’t on friendly terms. A few days ago, he was even selected the #1 most likely to steal the Scepter.”
“Shouldn’t Charvey be an old man?”
“Please, this is the young Charvey!”
“I searched around. Why was I only able to find this picture?”
The picture was a still-image of the Honored Prince Sr.’s stern, cold face when he was still young.
The crowd’s first response was: “Mama, this person is intimidating me!”
Immediately afterwards, the development changed.
“……Actually, he’s still pretty handsome.”
“Just a little handsome.”
“Aiya, can’t help but blush.”
“Aiya, can’t help but feel weak in the knees.”
“You guys……”
……
“The people in the front wake up! That’s Angeli Charvey. The picture was taken 20 years ago. It doesn’t match at all!”
Very quickly, everyone discovered this issue. This Charvey wasn’t that Charvey.
In other words, who was Nalun Charvey?
For a second, the entire crowd began to stir, all engaged in searching for his personal information. However, they shockingly discovered: In such a developed era of galactic net, surprisingly, there wasn’t even one released photo of this person.
“According to my many years of experience, he must be extraordinarily ugly!”
“Or he’s an old fart.”
“But his back view makes people unable to restrain themselves……”
“Huh?”
“Yea, the brief view of his back… High Definition.jpg”
“……”
While everyone speculated, a person stepped forth.
“Look at this big treasure I found!”
The back view that Mona took secretly of the onsen clubhouse appeared before the crowd. This picture, which was once well-known as “The Back View of a Male God I Want to xxxx”, created a hurricane-like wave on a streaming platform. Unexpectedly, it appeared out of the blue again at a time like this.
“This is the photo of a mysterious person that the Goddess-like streamer on ‘YuChi’ posted a few weeks ago.”
The informer was clearly a regular of the stream. They started to describe the origin of the picture.
“If you must know, this female streamer’s true identity is the Imperial General Yisi’s daughter. That day, she received an invitation to the Honored Prince Nalun’s banquet party, which was held on LuoRi Volcano. There she conducted a scenery live-stream. In the end, when the stream was about to finish, she posted this photo of the back view, but didn’t give any explanation at all. Today, during the opening ceremony, I thought it looked familiar…… After seeing Princess Shasha’s reply, I can pretty much confirm they’re the same person, without a doubt.”
After this, someone jumped out to post another picture.
The picture was very blurry and the angle was very eccentric. However the crowd was still able to recognize the Imperial Admiral’s extremely recognizable, handsome face.
The crowd all expressed: “Tell us your story!”
“That day, I accidentally saw the Admiral at a coffee shop. He seemed to be having a meal with someone. Look at the person sitting next to the Admiral, you guys. Do you think it’s possible, this is the same back view?”
“…… this is so blurry, it’s practically a mirage.”
The informer, who took the picture in too much of a hurry, was ruthlessly criticized.
“Actually…… it’s still possible to tell that person’s hair style. Black, with the tail end somewhat curly?”
This discovery shocked people.
Comparing the image with the previous screenshots of the back view, the more the crowd looked, the more similar the hair style looked.
— A terrifying thought.
If this were true…… then in front of this mysterious person, Princess Shasha wasn’t even worth mentioning. Could it be that while they were unaware, someone really did steal their male God’s heart away?
No!
This possibility was a very suffocating thought.
Amidst of the deathly silence, the informer then said cautiously: “That person…… is even better looking than the Admiral. I… I think I…… like that type better.”
