Chapter 59: Mirage Water Curtain

At the entrance to the Forbidden Land.
The leaders and representatives of the five clans and seven cities had returned one after another as the participants went in.
The only ones left behind to take care of the teens inside were some well-trained soldiers.
An old general with sleepy eyes had a large tank of water in front of him. The water, however, was shining in brilliant colors.
The other soldiers were scattered further across the area, standing in the distance.
The only person next to him was the female general Li Yuchan, who also stood directly next to the tank.
Every once in a while, she would take a quick glance at the water.
The water in the tank never stopped changing color.
As it changed color, the water revealed static images one by one.
Li Yu was cultivating in one of the craters; Yan Lu was directing his clanmates to search the surrounding areas; Su Yuan was studying a piece of cloud-shaped rock; Lin Zhuyun was attempting to find a breakthrough point in her Cold Shadows Method; Fan Li was staring into the night sky…
The image from on top of the water was scenes happening in the Forbidden Land.
The Mirage Water Curtain was the perfect object for its current job, monitoring the participants of this event. The water incorporated many formations throughout the area, which allowed it to detect the places with the movements of people.
The water tank was also a specialized container to carry out images from the water.
“Hmm…”
Li Yuchan raised her eyebrows.
The water, which was quickly switching between different images, suddenly halted after displaying one of them. She was able to control the scenes with her will.
It was the instant that Zhao Yafu had already beat up the two teens from the Hidden Moon City, and one of them was dragged beside You Yuan’s feet.
Seeing that boy’s swollen face, Li Yuchan’s mouth curled up in a spark of interest.
“That girl from the Zhao Clan has the spirit of a young dragon, at least some part of it.”
“The Zhao Clan has some relations with the Yinlong Lake, and that girl must have been the one chosen to be carrying a young dragon’s spirit.” said the old general beside her, covered in blankets and looked like was taking a nap on a large chair.
He lied on the chair not caring much for what was going on in that tank of water.
Li Yuchan knew that the old man was able to mirror the images from the water tank into his mind without the use of his eyes.
“Zhao Yafu, right? I heard a few rumors about her too.” Li Yuchan nodded. “Might it be that the young dragon is growing up inside her and grants her some special abilities?”
“No.” The old general shook his head.
“Her souls are already consumed by the dragon?” Li Yuchan was a little surprised.
“I can sense that the young dragon spirit that was once in her body has been completely refined by her.” The old general said without even much of his lips.
“Ah, the Zhao Clan has some guts.”
“Idiot! You still don’t understand what I’m trying to say.” The old general’s voice changed, and he paused for a moment. “That girl from the Zhao Clan is not as simple as you might have thought. If it isn’t for that little dragon controlling her for all these years, she probably had been spotted by a large sect already. Her talents are no lesser than those of Li Yu, Yan Lu, and Su Yan.”
Li Yuchan was finally impressed. “I never even noticed that this girl is so amazing.”
“I met her a few years ago when she was still young.” The old general nodded. “When the cultivators from the Yinlong Lake came and made an agreement with the Zhao Clan, it wasn’t the Zhao Clan being powerful or worthy. It was all because they wanted to use Zhao Yafu’s talent.”
“She is certainly belittled by that little dragon. What a bad move on the Zhao Clan’s part.”
“Fortunately for her, that dragon must have died sometime recently, and she was able to successfully use up all the energy that the dragon once had.”
“Before long, I’m expecting to see her being just as powerful as Li Yu and the others.”
The old general explained it plainly and simply.
From beginning to end, he didn’t mention Yu Yuan.
For now, he didn’t think Yu Yuan was close to being worthy enough for him to make a critical analysis.
“Soon, the others from the Hidden Moon City will arrive.” Li Yuchan put aside her shock from what she just heard and looked at Yu Yuan and the other boy. “I never thought that the first battle in the Forbidden Land will involve the Dark Moon City, the weakest team.”
“You pay attention to the girl.” The old general squinted his eyes. “She will be important to the empire in the future, so make sure she doesn’t get hurt.”
In other words, he meant that Yu Yuan, Yu Feifei, and Yuan Ting, were not significant enough for them to care. At least they won’t be important to the development of the empire.
“What about that kid from the Yu Clan?” Li Yuchan asked.
“He has the Ultimate Body, but started too late.” The old general judged based on his own experience. “Even if the Yu Clan uses everything they have to develop him, at most he will reach the Profound Realm. Not even close to affecting the future of the empire.”
Yin God was the minimum for one to become an important figure of the empire.
Cultivators at the Profound Realm weren’t at that level yet, so they weren’t worth the Queen’s attention.
When he said so, the old man suddenly sighed. “You see, I was very optimistic about the future of his father back then. What a pity.”
He knew almost anyone who had shown a decent potential among the younger generation.
As long as the person he’s interested in didn’t end up dieing too early, his predictions were never wrong.
In a way, his foresight contributed greatly to the Silver Moon Empire in its process of selecting future leaders.
For more than a hundred years, those he saw that had potential all became important contributors to the empire.
The others who were even more fortunate got taken away by the sects from the Land of Genesis and the Land of Extinction.
Representing the Queen herself, the old general selected the future leaders of the empire and protected them before anyone else could even see anything special in these people.
Just like this, the Li Clan, along with the Silver Moon Empire, became above average in the Land of Qianxuan.
In his eyes, Zhao Yafu, who successfully refined the dragon spirit, would one day become a great cultivator, reaching the Yin God Realm or even higher.
He hadn’t seen potential in Yu Yuan yet.
…
“Yu Yuan, that’s enough.”
Yuan Ting was a little anxious seeing that the boy’s face was tortured to the point of almost not being human anymore. He said to Yu Yuan, “We still have a long way to go. We don’t need to go all-in yet.”
Yu Yuan knew what he was worried about. He smiled and looked at Yu Feifei. “Do you think this is enough?”
Yu Feifei was long not angry, but she was lost in thoughts. She nodded quickly.
“Alright then, since my sister said so.”
Yu Yuan released his hand, lowered his head, and looked down at the boy. “Little brother, you are lucky that this happened now. If we are in the last two months… haha.”
He finally stood up and nodded to Zhao Yafu. “Okay, let’s go.”
When Yuan Ting was talking to Yu Yuan, Zhao Yafu still pinned the boy on the ground.
As soon as Yu Yuan spoke, she obediently followed his orders and said, “Brother Yu, I saw most of the people from the Hidden Moon City before we entered, and I made sure that there is no one stronger than me here.”
“Good to know.” Yu Yuan nodded and said, “That’s enough for now, see you later.”
“Let’s go.” Yuan Ting urged.
He led the way to a stone path that would avoid the others who wanted to come here.
Everyone followed tightly behind him.
The three from the Hidden Moon City were furious, but they had no choice but to stay where they were.
What Zhao Yafu just did was terrifying. No way that they could have won even if they were prepared.
…
Early in the morning, the sky was clear.
Yu Yuan and his team quickly fled the crater they were in last night and chose another location to explore.
Before they even stepped out of the stone path leading there, they already heard the sound of an intense fight.
Zhao Yafu took the lead to see what’s going on.
“The Fan Clan’s team here! Other teams, please don’t interfere!”
Someone shouted loudly from the bottom of the pit where the moon fragment was.
