Chapter 3

The room wasn’t large. Except for the bedrooms of the several major officers, most of the rooms were of the same style and size inside the battleship.
His room from the floor to the walls all has that unique cold sheen of metal. Even the single bed and small table are made of the same metal that extends from the wall. But what kind of strange metal it is or how it was treated, he doesn’t know.
The bed was also obviously made of the same metallic luster but it was unusually soft and a little warm, there was no feeling of coldness that a hard metal has. Miao Te sat on the soft bed, staring at the empty room with a dull expression.
He lied by accident.
He thought recalling the incident.
Still, it was a lie. As an absolutely purebred hetero, he couldn’t help but have the urge to cover his face at this moment. Well, he does like pretty girls. That’s right, but that doesn’t mean he would like to be a breeding pig.
In fact, his childhood dream was to find a cute girl whom a pink wedding dress would be suitable for, love her sweetly and be with her for the rest of his life…. Won’t he make for a good, devoted husband?
Nevermind that…
The youth rubbed his temples vigorously and slapped his face a few times to cheer himself up.
The lie you laid down, you must commit to it until the end!
After encouraging himself like this, the youth was brimming with enough courage to face the overbearing and unreasonable major general. And he did maintain this courage, until the blonde female soldier took him back and he saw that handsome face of the major general-
The young major general sat quietly on a metal seat with his legs crossed and his hands covered with snow-white military gloves placed on his lap. Eyebrows vaguely forming a frown, his pair of phoenix eyes narrowed slightly turning into thin lines. His eyes always seemed to emit a deterrent light with a glance, that’s why when he looked at a person coldly, only a few people could look straight back into his eyes.
The teenager standing in front of him looked soft and immature. His dark brown hair lay softly on that childish cheek looking like a young herbivore, gentle and harmless. Those big eyes fluttered a little while looking at him.
The teenager looked quite nervous, glancing at him from time to time and quickly turning his eyes away after. But the nervousness was not like the fear that implies that he was afraid of him; it was more of the nervousness of a child in trouble.
“You like men?”
“………”
Miao Te stood in the brightly lit main hall, silently looking at the young major general sitting on the commander’s seat. He turned and looked at the officers standing next to the man and the soldiers that we’re sitting around the operating platform in charge of flying the battleship.
… Do I like men? Lord Major General, is it really necessary to ask me to answer this question in front of this crowd of people?
The teenager felt bitter in his heart, he thought of this but didn’t dare express this little emotion and can only nod painfully under the cruel and inhumane scrutiny of a group of people. He then heard the low laughter of several soldiers from not far away.
But before he could vomit blood in his mind, the frowning young major general’s voice sounded again.
“Can’t do it with women?”
Miao Te stilled for a moment. Oh, so he’s is asking if I might be bisexual.
He immediately became vigilant.
Being known as a homosexual’s already such a self-destructing reputation, if it was mixed together when he fulfilled his obligation of being a breeding pig… enough, this idea must be completely strangled in the cradle!1
“I only like men.” He solemnly declared again.
Once raw, later ripe.2 Compared to the first time when he said this sentence to the female soldier where he gritted his teeth and his face was distorted, this time he spoke very fluently and naturally. He was especially heavy on the tone of the word “men” to emphasize that it is absolutely impossible with women.
…
Wait, why should I be so proud? The teenager felt stuffed.
The young major general’s slender sword eyebrows were slightly wrinkled and it seemed that his mood was a little unpleasant. However, this doesn’t mean he holds any prejudice towards sexuality. In the Interstellar Era, people have relaxed a lot when it comes to sexuality, and he especially never cared about the sexuality of other people.
The problem now is that he can’t just drop this responsibility like a hot potato, he has to fulfill his promise to that old man. He has the responsibility to take care of the only surviving descendant of the Uriel family, and letting this person complete his obligation of continuing the family name is under that responsibility.
But now, it was revealed that this guy has no interests in women. Alas, it became really troublesome.
“Understood.” Taylor stood up, his night-like hair lightly scattering on the corner of his eyes.
“You are going to be part of the Imperial Army today, be prepared.” He said as he got up and walked to the side, the pale white cloak behind him lifting in a slight arc as he moved forward.
“!!!!!!”
What? More so! Why?!!
He said he wouldn’t let him enter the army right? They said minors aren’t allowed to enlist in the military!
Suddenly forced to enlist in the military, Miao Te with a miserable face wanted to defend himself but the red-haired man next to him then came over and patted his shoulder.
“Boss has spoken, it’s settled.” He continued, “Although minors really can’t join the army, we can always find a loophole.” He grinned at Miao Te, his white teeth sparkling.
“Stop struggling, it’s not your fault that you like men.”
“………” So if you liked men, you have to join the Imperial Army? The teenager was confused. Isn’t this logic a little problematic?
…
The Mother System is a system with artificial intelligence created specifically to nurture elite offspring from human beings.
As early as 10,000 years ago, human beings have fully mastered the technology of nurturing a fetus within a nutrient solution that creates a simulated environment of the womb. From the combining of the sperm and egg to forming a fertilized egg, then growing into a fetus and finally developing into a mature baby, this process can be completely separated from the mother and completed in the relevant fertility equipment.
Having an offspring in the form of test-tube babies not only allows women to avoid the pain of childbirth, it also ensures that the fetus is completely formed, avoiding the risk of miscarriage due to various accidents. More importantly, while the fetus develops in the nutrient solution that creates a simulated environment of the womb, the bad genes would be removed little by little to ensure that the fetus only has excellent genes.
In this way, a child born by simulation of the womb through the nutrient solution would stand out immediately after birth, far exceeding ordinary children.
However, because this technology consumes huge resources, only people with sufficiently superior genes are eligible to use the system.
The fertility law in the Imperial Law stipulates that only elites with superior genes, such as the royal family, nobles above the marquis, and officers above the general rank, etc. are eligible to use the Mother System. The only exception is an officer with low military rank but has a high enough military merit.
The Mother System is a super intelligent system that operates autonomously, so even if it’s the emperor who is the ruler of the empire, he does not have the power to modify her system programs and force her to serve someone who does not meet the requirements.
In the Mother System, everything and anyone must follow the rules and regulations.
…………
After a brief explanation of the red-haired man, Miao Te somewhat understood.
This Lord Major General can really afford to look after him, because he knew that he could not have children naturally, he plans to let him use the Mother System to solve the problem of passing down the family name. Therefore, he was forced to join the army which would allow him to accumulate military merit and obtain the qualifications to use the Mother System.
Well, this plan is good. But he knows his own capabilities! With this small body of his, his level of ability at most is being a cannon fodder on the battlefield.
He then began to lay out his choices…
Confessing to his lies => being beaten to death => tossed to a certain planet to eat and await his death while living as a breeding pig.
Persist that he likes men => thrown into the army => hang on as cannon fodder.
…………
Survive as an agricultural pest? Or cannon fodder?
These are really terrible options …
The red-haired man glanced at the youth’s face that resembled the wrinkles of a bun, and saw the youth’s gaze resentfully boring into the Boss’ back. It was really becoming more and more interesting.
“You really don’t know what kind of fortune you’ve received.”
He shrugged and said, “I remember all those old guys from the Imperial City trying to send their underage sons over to the Boss for military service. Just catching little leftovers from Boss is enough for those unsuccessful young masters to go back and jump three levels in reputation.”
“………” Oh.
Miao Te understood immediately.
It turned out that the Lord Major General made him enlist in the military, but he didn’t really expect him to contribute meritorious services at all. He was simply going to take the person with him to the military and fake it.
He pondered about it for a while. Although he still has some resistance towards becoming an imperial soldier and going to battles, now that things have reached this point in the situation, he can’t afford to choose. And although it would be quite dangerous on the battlefield, it should still be safe to stick to the major general who is covered by protagonist’s aura.
…
Moreover, if the carefully thought about it, the most important part is that although it seemed to be tens of thousands already into the future, he still has to find a way to go back to Earth. He has always felt that if he returned to Earth, he might find something related to his current predicament. And to return to Earth, there must be starships.
At least if he joined the Imperial Army, he can take his time learning how to manipulate starships bit by bit, and then find an opportunity to find his way back to Earth.
Miao Te thought about it for a long time, and finally made up his mind. Anyway, even if he has escaped the crisis of being a breeding pig, he is just as helpless. And without any survival skills, it is almost impossible to live independently. Fortunately, there was a super thick golden thigh3 in front of him. Thinking of this, he couldn’t help looking at the said golden thigh.
The young major general was standing next to a female soldier sitting in front of one side of the operating platform. His hand inside those snow-white military gloves was raised slightly as he gestured at the female soldier. After receiving the instructions, the female soldier quickly pushed something on the operating platform.
A semi-curved hologram appeared in front of Maj. Gen. Taylor. The female soldier next to him continued fiddling with the controls one after another until a star map quickly appeared on the hologram where countless spots of light flashed and jumped, changing positions at a very fast speed on the star map. In the lower right corner of the hologram appeared small lines of text that quickly flashed from top to bottom. The eyes of the young major general reflected these lines, making his pupils glow for a moment.
After deciding about cultivating a good relationship with this golden thigh, Miao Te walked over in order to thank him. He stood by the side and looked at the man.
The soft and delicate, shining black hair that shimmered like silk was scattered around the slightly raised eyes of the young major general, the hair tips intertwined with his long eyelashes. The dim light and dark shade interlaced to form shadows. The color of his pupils was of an ink-dark blue, just like the deep starry sky outside, a mysterious and cold hue. He just stood there silently, like an exquisite and gorgeous mural that attracts attention.
Miao Te stared for a sometime and suddenly felt that those eyes were familiar. He seemed to have seen those eyes somewhere, but he couldn’t remember how and where had he ever seen them …
Perhaps because he stared for too long and so obvious too, Taylor turned to look back at him. The moment his eyes met with those pair of ink-dark blue pupils that looked like the starry sky, Miao Te can’t help but be curious about this feeling of familiarity and opened his mouth.
He looked straight at the man and said with a smile, “I seem to have seen your eyes somewhere.”
He then remembered that he did seem to have seen very similar eyes back on Earth’s television screens tens of thousands of years ago. Although he has forgotten who exactly that person is, he must’ve been a big star who often appeared on TV. Otherwise it wouldn’t have left a such a big impression on him.
Earth…… Memories of the past … For him, those things obviously happened not so long ago, but in reality they are tens of thousands of years past him, and undeniably, there’s still some place in his heart that longs for it.
However, while Miao Te was still reminiscing about the things of his time, he did not realize the impact of his words. Thus, making a rare look of misunderstanding appear in the young major general’s eyes.
Taylor stared at him; his pale thin lips curled slightly, the corners forming a sharp arc, with a slightly subtle look on his face.
The moment this sentence rang clearly inside the main hall, everyone stopped what they were doing as if time had frozen for a second. There came a sudden deathly silence that enveloped the main hall which was abuzz with conversation earlier. The whole air seemed to stiffen at this moment.
Holding his files by the side, a blue-haired lieutenant who was preparing to report to the Lord Major General looked at Miao Te with eyes containing his disbelief. The words, ‘What boldness! How ridiculous!’, clearly written out.
Standing on the other side of the operating platform, the red-haired man who was looking at the hologram turned his back to the opposite side. The expression on his face couldn’t be seen, but with his arms resting on the platform you could clearly see that he was desperately trying to suppress the shaking of his shoulders.
“…” Did he say something incredible just now?
With the exaggerated response of the crowd, the teenager finally woke up from reminiscing about the past. He opened his eyes wide and looked at young major general blankly.
Taylor looked back at the teenager who was looking at him innocently. The youth’s eyes like the color of a clear night sky looked straight at him, with a trace of childishness still on his face. Just like staring at glimmering water under the night, those eyes reflected his face. He rarely saw someone’s pupils reflect his face so clearly that the unhappiness caused by this person’s offense has become somewhat unexplainable at the bottom of his heart.
Taylor’s wrinkled eyebrows loosened and he voiced out a groan, as if thinking and organizing his words, he finally answered.
“You’re still young.” He replied, his tone cold and indifferent. Then he turned around and left.
… Wait, major general are you sure you understood it right? I just said that I seem to have seen your eyes somewhere on impulse. I just wanted to praise your eyes for being good-looking bah. Why is it that the donkey’s head is not right?4 Also, what makes you say I’m young? You look like you’re just 20 years old yourself, at least four or five years older than me. Why would you say that I’m young-
“Preposterous!” Miao Te was still staring blankly at the Lord Major General’s back when the blue-haired lieutenant by the side sneered at him with a face full of scorn, then turned and hurried to chase after his superior.
A villain card was issued. And all of a sudden, Miao Te was scolded for being absurd.
The red-haired man behind him who couldn’t bear the pain in his heart, spleen, lungs, and kidneys while he was behind the Boss, could no longer hold back his uncontrollable laughter from bursting out.
“Ouch ha ha ha, damn, laughed me to death ha ha ha ha, you are really one brave little guy ha ha ha ha ha-I didn’t expect you to be this young but already quite skilled at picking up people?” He laughed wildly and patted the brave little guy’s shoulder.
“Your vision is really good; you can see our Boss at a glance hahahahaha!”
Alas, this little guy actually dared hit on Boss in the presence of so many people in the main hall. Damn, this little guy’s quite proficient at his pick-and-roll technique. Also damn, that delicate expression on the Boss’ face which has been stuck with 10,000 years of facial paralysis was shaken by this little guy … This would last for a lifetime! A lifetime lah! The red-haired man said in his heart that he can laugh at this event for a hundred years without getting tired!
Oh, right. The phrase “I seem to have seen your eyes somewhere” is also good for striking up a conversation, he has to write it down and use it for the next time he meets a girl he likes. He smiled happily in his heart thinking like this. Then, realizing something, Miao Te finally showed a dumbfounded expression.
Striking up a conversation? Strike it up with who? And, did he just do one to the major general who has iceberg thorns in his resisting aura? What a joke! How could he possibly have that kind of courage!
He just simply told him “I seem to have seen your eyes somewhere”………….. wait .
Now, let’s take a closer look.
First, he said that he likes men. Then he was forced by the major general to admit that he only like the same sex. Then he was forced to join the army. Finally, just now, he, a man who only likes men, said to another man who has a very good appearance: ‘I seem to have seen your eyes somewhere.’
…………
…………………………
…… Fellow military officers, if I said that this sentence was literally meaningless and I didn’t mean to hit on your major general, would you believe it?
The author has something to say:
The youth: “Trust me! I really didn’t mean to hit on your Boss!”
Everyone: “Hehe.”
