When Zhou Bai returned home, he was greeted with an empty house.
The agreement was stacked on the table, and the signature line on the last page was… blank.
Zhou Bai heaved a sigh of relief.
However, Jian Ci wasn’t home. He dialled the boy a few times but to no avail. And in the next call, the phone was turned off.
It was the first time Zhou Bai felt this flustered, and he could not contain the wrath that was building up inside. He called Qiao Zhiqi, his voice low as he questioned, “Why are you doing this? Are you that impatient?”
“…” It was silent on the other end. Information from the board of directors had just filtered into Qiao Zhiqi’s ears, and he couldn’t help but lose a little confidence, “It’s not my fault. You did not tell me about your plans.”
Zhou Bai scoffed, “Now that I have helped you resolve your problem, the Qiao’s family industry has been brought down by Wu Wei Entertainment and you have won the battle with your older brother. But what about me? Because of you, my wife has ran away!”
Qiao Zhiqi was at a loss for words, “That… maybe he’s out to buy some groceries?”
Zhou Bai, “…”
“Ah, I have a meeting to attend, I’m hanging up,” Qiao Zhiqi said as he falsely gestured to his assistant on the other end of the line, before switching his attention back to call and monotonously continued, “Thanks.”
“You can convey my thanks to your ancestors!”
