For a long time, Zhou Bai scoured the neighbourhood, searching Jian Ci’s frequently visited places a few times – the company, the supermarket, the little park nearby, the private home dining, the IT mall… but he was nowhere to be found.

Just as he was feeling disheartened, the lock to the door of their house clicked, and Jian Ci entered with a face filled with exhaustion.

Zhou Bai jumped to his feet, “Where did you go?”

“To the police station,” Jian Ci looked at him, peculiarly.

“The police station?”

“Mm, Officer Chen gave me a call and told me that some records regarding Ren Xu were incomplete. He requested that I return to the station for further questioning, and sign the pledge all over again. It was so troublesome.”

“22% of shares makes you Bai Sheng’s second largest shareholder, and Qiao Zhiqi yearns for your rights as his backing, wishing to rely on Bai Sheng to bring the Qiao family business down.”

“Alright then. Mr. Qiao was formally laying out all the facts, and I had thought that you wanted a divorce. It was only after seeing the agreement that I understood what he was going on about.” Jian Ci uncapped the pen, “Do I sign this now?”

“No, there’s no need to. Everything on Qiao Zhiqi’s side has been resolved.”

Jian Ci blinked, “Then what was all the trouble today for?”

Zhou Bai, “…”
