The moon slowly arose.
Song Mo began climbing the mountain. The mountain road was bumpy. No matter how careful he was, the person on his back still woke up from her sleep.
The mountain breeze was cool. Tang Huan felt refreshed after taking a short nap. She wrapped her arms around his neck and turned to face him. “Your house has been burnt down. Where should we stay when we return?”
Song Mo quietly moved his face away from hers. “The mats were undamaged. Tonight, we’ll make do with the firewood shed. I will quickly build a simple shed tomorrow, and then, after cleaning up the area, I will start building a new house.” Since he could freely use the wood in the mountain, if he put in the effort to chop the trees, building a new house would not cost much money.
Instead of being grateful that Song Mo didn’t blame her for accidentally burning down his house, Tang Huan coquettishly touched his face and said, “Tsk tsk, such a lucky man. After your small wooden house burned down, you got a beautiful and gentle little wife in return. I’m not bragging, but my looks could beat most rich men’s wives.”
Song Mo’s breathing quickened. He furrowed his brows as he scolded her, “Stop moving around…the likes of you can only be a concubine at best. Rich lords only marry dignified and virtuous ladies.”
“Do you think I can’t be dignified?”
Tang Huan smiled and retracted her hand from his neck. Then after a while, she began crying on his shoulder.
Song Mo panicked, thinking that she might not be able to stand such ridicule. She was just a young girl, after all. He was still wracking his brain thinking of a way to appease her when he heard her say, “Lord Song, I am the daughter of the Tang family in the county. Since I was a child, my mother had taught me to behave modestly and never be overly intimate with other men when I went out. Fortunately, Lord Song had rescued me after I had been lost and injured my leg, but if other people saw you carrying me back like this, I would be too ashamed to see my family. Please put me down. I’d appreciate it if you could send a letter to my family informing them to come pick me up.”
Her words were gentle and soft, with both the shyness of a young woman and the uneasiness of being close to a man.
Seeing that Song Mo was still too stunned to speak, Tang Huan smiled and teased him, “Well, if you’re really Lord Song, after seeing my beautiful appearance, would you immediately promise to propose marriage to my parents?”
“You just like to put on an act,” Song Mo said through gritted teeth.
“Do you like it then?” Tang Huan leaned in close and blew on his neck.
Song Mo’s neck became numb and itchy, as if feathers were brushing against him, and the muscles on his body tightened.
“Don’t worry, Song Mo,” Tang Huan said seductively as she gently sucked on his earlobe. “Because I like you, you’re the only person I seduce and the only person I show my bad side to. Do you like it?”
What was ‘putting on an act’? Did she ever pretend to be someone else? Never. Even if she behaved gently, it was still her. Her master used to say that a woman has a thousand faces. She was merely doing whatever she pleased. Who could accuse her of acting? Who could say that she was pretending to be another woman? If there was really a gentle and kind little nun, would the nun tease Song Mo like that? Without the teasing and bold intimacy, would Song Mo like her? In the end, Song Mo liked her as a person and liked the heart-throbbing sensation he felt when he was with her. Because he liked her, he didn’t mind her deception or how bad she was.
This time she made a mistake, so Song Mo was lucky enough to see two different sides of her.
Did Song Mo like it?
He wanted to say no, but why did her intimacy make his heart race? Why would he feel so good? And why did he want to press her under him and punish her hard?
He liked this woman, this bad, fairy-like woman.
But he mustn’t admit it. He mustn’t let her be overly pleased with herself.
“If you don’t let go, I will carry you on my shoulder like I did before.” Song Mo acted like he was about to put her down.
Tang Huan quickly let go of his ear. Firstly, she didn’t like being carried with her head down, and secondly, it was pointless to tease him now. She should save her energy and continue later at home.

After they reached the courtyard, Song Mo set her down and lit a torch before hurriedly cleaning up the firewood shed. There was firewood and hay in the shed. He spread the mat on the thick hay, laid the bedding, and covered the shed with a mosquito net. A barely liveable place had been built.
Tang Huan had difficulty walking with her injured leg, so he carried her in.
Tang Huan kept her arms around his neck. “Are you sleeping with me?”
It would be dangerous to light candles or torches in the shed since it was full of firewood, so it was pitch black inside. Song Mo couldn’t see her expression clearly, but he could imagine the provocation in her eyes. He initially wanted to shake his head, but he thought that if he said he was going to sleep outside, she would laugh at him for being too timid.
Why did he have to sleep outside?
She was not that little nun anymore. He didn’t let her go, carrying her down the mountain and spending all of his money for her; hadn’t he already made up his mind to keep this woman by his side?
As a woman, she didn’t even mind, so why should he?
“Mhm. You should sleep first. I’m going to fetch some water,” Song Mo replied quietly, and when she let go of his hand in satisfaction after hearing his answer, he got up and went outside.
After cleaning his body and changing into clean zhongyi , Song Mo put out the torch. He looked up at the night sky and took a deep breath before stepping into the firewood shed without hesitation.
He saw her lying motionless, but he wasn’t able to see her face clearly in the dark.
After a tiring day, she should be exhausted, right?
Song Mo cautiously sat down beside her, but since he was a big and heavy man, there were crackling sounds from the hay under the mat as it was pressed down, creating an indescribable ambiguity in such a confined little shed.
Song Mo was very nervous. When he lay down with his muscles all tensed up, his body was already sweating.
When Tang Huan saw Song Mo lying on his side with his back facing her, she pressed his shoulder down so he would lie on his back, and then straddled him.
“You smell so good,” she said as she pulled open his zhongyi and kissed him. “I want you.”
Song Mo knew she was bold, but he didn’t expect her to say it so bluntly. As he became increasingly thirsty the more she kissed him, he held her shoulder nervously and said, as calmly as he could, “Stop fooling around. You still have injuries on your leg.”
Tang Huan had been looking forward to this day for a long time, so how could she be deterred by a minor injury? She immediately said, “That little injury won’t get in the way. You just have to be careful not to touch it.”
Song Mo remained silent for a moment before abruptly bending his right leg. Tang Huan stopped kissing him, secretly pleased that he was about to start. But unexpectedly, he straightened his leg again, causing her poor right leg to rub against the bedding, which hurt so much that she almost cried out in pain.
“Can’t you simply say no if you don’t want to?” She bit him furiously.
Song Mo closed his eyes and said nothing. If he didn’t let her feel a bit of the pain, she wouldn’t give up.
Seeing that he was playing dead, Tang Huan deliberately rubbed her lower abdomen against his thing that had been poking her and sneered, “If you don’t get hard, then I’ll really believe that you don’t want me.”
Song Mo drew a sharp breath. Knowing that he couldn’t win an argument with her, he placed his big hand on her buttocks and pinched it hard before getting up and positioning her to lie down properly. “Go to sleep. I have to work tomorrow morning.”
Tang Huan turned her back to him in anger. After Laoniang recovers, Laoniang must ride on you and ‘pick’ you to my heart’s content!
Unfortunately, she had forgotten one thing her master had told her. The more honest-looking a man was, the more surprising he would be in bed.
