Qiping smiled and said goodbye to Kate's family before leaving. He knew that fathers often disliked their daughters' boyfriends. The thought of their beloved child being taken away by another man, and possibly being demoted from the top spot in their daughter's heart, was indeed cruel.

"My relationship with Eric is very awkward; he looks like he wants to kick me out completely." In the car, Qiping joked with Kate; he had adapted to some American customs, such as calling people by their first names. However, Qiping also respected local customs, and he wouldn't accept his child calling him by his first name; if that happened, the child would get a good spanking.

"Not just Eric, but Joshua too; they don't welcome you. I think only Caroline has a better attitude towards you, and that might be because you always bring delicious vegetables." Kate felt very happy every day. Starting a relationship with Qiping, she discovered many interesting things in life that she had never noticed before.
