Chapter 10

Vincent took out the money bag from his chest, weighed it in his hand, and felt a pang of pain. Today, he had sold the few bottles of invigorating potions made by Jiang Junming, earning a few more copper coins. He had planned to add some meat to the evening meal to treat his colleagues, but he hadn't even had time to warm up these copper coins before they were about to be taken by these thugs.

Seeing their unwillingness to let go, Vincent felt even more uneasy, unsure if this small amount of money could satisfy their greed.

"Vincent, if you don't give me an explanation today, I'll give you one!" The leader of the thugs, with his chest wide open, had chest hair that looked like wild grass growing in a chaotic manner. His face was full of tough muscles, and he held a snow-white knife, looking at Vincent with a wobbly gaze as he said.

"Let's talk it out, let's talk it out." Vincent's hand holding the money bag trembled, and he subconsciously wiped the sweat from his forehead, speaking cautiously.

"Let's talk it out? Am I not talking it out with you right now? Otherwise, I would have smashed your little shop to pieces long ago. Tell me, what do you plan to do?" The thug was not worried about any unexpected changes. The Wild Herb Shop was now a lamb waiting to be slaughtered, and he could do whatever he wanted with it.

"I've worked hard for everyone. I still have some money here; let's see if it works." Although Vincent felt pain, he knew this was not the time to feel it. He decided to spend some money to buy a peaceful day.

"Such a small amount of money? I see you're not planning to talk it out properly!" The thug leader sneered, "If you're not planning to talk it out properly, then let my weapon do the talking." Finished... Vincent's face darkened, knowing that this time, it wouldn't be easy to get through this.

At that moment, the group of thugs suddenly stopped, as if they had seen something. The thug leader, who had just been fierce, now had an expression of disbelief, blinking his eyes hard, as if trying to confirm that he wasn't seeing things wrong.

Jiang Junming found it strange and followed the thugs' gaze. Two people were walking from the other side of the street, dressed in black plate armor, looking like the attendants of the knights from the temple.

No one knew if these two were just passing by or had some business here. They had never seen them come to such a remote and dirty neighborhood before. But both the thugs and the Wild Herb Shop's employees knew that these attendants of the knights could not be offended; offending them was the same as offending the knights. Although these thugs were rude to the Wild Herb Shop, they dared not offend a knight.

The scene became strange, and everyone stood still, watching the two knight attendants walk over.

The knight attendants recognized the sign of the Wild Herb Shop, not even looking at the people on both sides, and asked, "Who is Junming?"

Jiang Junming used all his strength to shout, "I am."

"Are you also looking for Junming?" The thug leader's fierce look disappeared, replaced by a fawning expression. He had somehow fastened his open shirt, slightly bowing, transforming from his previous rudeness to extreme humility, nodding and bowing.

"Who are you? Do you even deserve to speak to me?" A knight attendant glanced at the thug leader with disdain.

The other knight attendant looked at the thugs, whose morale had already been crushed, and shouted loudly, "In broad daylight, you dare to hold weapons and attempt to commit violence on the street! You have a lot of nerve! Get out of here, don't be an eyesore."

Hearing the knight attendant's rebuke and realizing that the knight attendants were looking for Jiang Junming, the thug leader knew he had kicked a hard stone. He could only pinch his nose and accept it, turning to run as quickly as possible, fearing that he would be caught and taken back to the temple by the knight attendants.

Seeing the thugs run away, the shop's employees breathed a sigh of relief. But they immediately remembered that the two knight attendants seemed to be looking for Junming, not knowing what had happened.

Knight attendants like these never appeared in this dirty and messy neighborhood. What did they want with Junming?

Everyone watched the two knight attendants walk to Jiang Junming with humble and respectful eyes. One of the knight attendants looked up and down at Jiang Junming and said coldly, "You are Junming?"

Jiang Junming, not knowing what had happened, felt nervous and nodded. "Prepare yourself. Someone will come to pick you up tomorrow to take the entrance exam for the Church Academy," one of the knight attendants said.

What? Vincent seemed not to have heard clearly what the knight attendant said, his body stiffening like a stone, unable to move. Church Academy? Entrance exam? How did Junming, an orphan from the orphanage, have any connection with the Alliance of the Temples of Light and Justice? The Church Academy was not a place for just anyone, and even the entrance exam was not something a small herb shop employee like Jiang Junming could aspire to. If Jiang Junming could pass the exam and enter the Church Academy, he would become a priest, a cleric, or a paladin, a great person.

How could such a good opportunity fall on Junming? Vincent thought.

Stamm and the other employees also stared at the knight attendants in shock, unable to speak. The Temples of Light and Justice? Priests, clerics? These were beings from another world, and the shop's employees had never imagined that someone close to them would have any connection with such great people. But the two knight attendants had indeed said that Junming was to take the Church Academy's entrance exam. Could he have heard wrong?

The onlookers whispered, amazed.

"What did that nobleman say? Did I hear wrong? I heard him say that the young employee from the Wild Herb Shop was to take the entrance exam for the Church Academy?"

"It seems so, how is that possible!"

"That's great. If I could go, I would. Graduating from the Church Academy means becoming a priest or a cleric, and I wouldn't have to live in this dirty and messy place anymore. This place isn't fit for living..."

"Go dream about it. In your next life, you won't become a priest or a cleric."

"The young employee from the Wild Herb Shop is so lucky. How did they choose him?"

"I heard that to study at the Church Academy, you have to go to other big cities. Our Moonlight City doesn't have a Church Academy."

People living in this poor neighborhood struggled to survive every day, and those great people had nothing to do with them. No one had ever thought that a young employee from the Wild Herb Shop could take the entrance exam for the Church Academy. This was beyond everyone's imagination. To everyone, this was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to escape poverty and live a better life.
