Inserting the tube into the wound on the right side of the chest, the other end was placed in the reagent bottle. Jiang Junming, with both hands firmly pressing the wound, spoke loudly in the ear of the severely injured priest, "Breathe hard!" The severely injured priest still had some consciousness left, as if he heard Jiang Junming's words, his chest began to rise and fall violently. As the chest of the severely injured priest rose and fell, the clear water in the reagent bottle was immediately dyed red by the blood, and bubbles gurgled up.
The simplest closed drainage could save lives, but Jiang Junming did not know if what he was doing violated the rules of the gods of light and justice, or if he would be burned at the stake.
"Cough, cough, cough..." The severely injured priest began to cough violently. Jiang Junming knew this was a normal reaction after the lung re-expanded, and he did not panic. While calming the severely injured priest, he took the needle and thread and began to secure the tube and suture the wound on the right side of the priest's chest.
The needle for sewing clothes was different from the surgical suture needle, and Jiang Junming found it somewhat awkward to use, and there was no disinfection at all. Seeing the priest's face change from ashen to pale, with a hint of vitality, Jiang Junming knew that the man would not die now, but there would be more trouble ahead. Whether there would be an infection, and what trouble his action of suturing the wound would bring if discovered by the priests, such thoughts made Jiang Junming's head spin.
No matter how he thought about it, the desire to save lives took precedence. Regardless of the consequences, he decided to save the man first. Jiang Junming ultimately chose the simplest and most direct solution, to save the man first.
As the vitality of the severely injured priest waned, his consciousness became hazy. In a daze, he saw a figure in white appear before him, the faint light making it seem as if he was seeing the radiance of the divine realm. His last thought was that his devout prayers must have been heard by the gods he worshipped, allowing him to return to the divine realm after death.
Praying devoutly, the severely injured priest found that his last bit of consciousness did not fade away but gradually became clearer. His vision, which had been blurry, became somewhat clearer, and he saw a figure in a white robe busy in front of him.
With such severe injuries, ordinary priests and clerics could not have healed him. How did this child manage to bring him back to life? He knew the extent of his injuries; even a more powerful priest's healing magic might not have saved him, yet he had miraculously survived!
Although the bleeding had not stopped, the force that had been pressing on his chest, preventing him from breathing, had mysteriously disappeared. Watching Jiang Junming in the white robe working, he recalled the blurry image he had seen in his last moments, and his eyes showed deep thought.
Jiang Junming worked quickly. Although there was no anesthesia, the severely injured priest, who had already lost half his life, did not have the strength to cry out in pain. Soon, the wound was sutured.
"Thank you. My name is Raphael, a priest of the Church of Mercy. What is your name?" Raphael's voice was weak, and he spoke softly to Jiang Junming. "It's nothing, no need to thank me. My name is Junming. Although you are just a little better, you should have someone to take care of you, but I can't leave you here," Jiang Junming said somewhat embarrassedly. "You know, if a priest dies here, what the temple will do. And, please don't tell anyone about me treating your injuries, okay?"
Raphael looked at the tube and the dark red blood in his body, understanding what the child named Junming was worried about. He managed to force a smile and comforted Jiang Junming, saying, "I won't die. I'll rest a bit and then leave. As for the other things, don't worry."
Hearing Raphael say this, Jiang Junming felt a bit relieved. He had acted impulsively, using the surgical methods from his previous life to save the man, but the subsequent unpredictable troubles made him uneasy.
Looking at the expression of the severely injured priest, Jiang Junming felt he was not lying. As long as he did not die, everything would be fine. It seemed that with the gas being expelled from his chest, Raphael regained some strength. After resting for a moment, he raised his hand, and a beam of white light fell on his body.
A divine spell? Jiang Junming's eyes widened; this was the first time he had seen supernatural divine magic in this world. He had heard of magic, but he had never seen it.
The white light seemed to carry some mysterious power. As the light appeared, countless tiny points of light seemed to seep into the body of the severely injured priest, visibly repairing the gruesome wound at a speed visible to the naked eye.
Jiang Junming wondered if the priest's divine spell had the effects of antibiotics and tetanus antitoxin. Watching the white light fall, a strange thought crossed his mind. Perhaps there were no tetanus bacteria in this world. Thinking this, Jiang Junming smiled bitterly.
After using a healing spell, Raphael's energy was completely drained, and he lay on the table, his face ashen, breathing heavily. The water in the reagent bottle had turned dark red, with some clots settling at the bottom. The liquid level in the reagent bottle bubbled with the priest's breathing.
Jiang Junming sighed, observing the crude closed drainage bottle. The bubbles seemed to be decreasing, probably due to the effect of the white light, which had repaired the damaged lung in such a short time, truly amazing.
After half an hour, Raphael said, "I feel much better, Junming. Please see me out."
Feeling somewhat guilty for sending such a severely injured person away, Jiang Junming did not feel like a doctor. Even though he had been in this world for over a decade, he had not completely become one of its people, and sometimes thoughts from his previous life still surfaced. Otherwise, he would not have risked being burned at the stake to save a severely injured priest.
Watching Raphael's weak figure leave, walking slowly and unsteadily, one hand holding the crude "closed drainage bottle" and the other hand supporting the wall, Jiang Junming said softly, "Keep the reagent bottle lower than the wound, or the water will flow back. And if you're feeling better, just remove the tube."
Raphael turned and looked at Jiang Junming, nodded, said nothing, and turned to leave.
Closing the door, Jiang Junming carefully wiped the bloodstains from the room and opened the window to let the血腥 odor散去. After everything was cleaned up, Jiang Junming felt as if he had done something wrong, his heart filled with unease.
