Chapter 11.1

The sunshine in autumn wasn’t glaring. The warm yellow sunlight shone into the ward and dyed the room into a gentle color.

Children loved to sleep in. Thus, when Wei Zhe woke up, he saw Wei Jing miserably curled up in a ball by the side of the bed, afraid of touching his injury. Yet, his delicate fingers still held onto Wei Zhe’s hand stubbornly. This made Wei Zhe’s gaze soften and his expression turned gentle.

The nurse assistants also looked after Wei Zhe. The beds were originally in the room, but Wei Zhe had people move the bed to the room next to them after he woke up. He couldn’t tolerate someone being close to him 24/7 besides Wei Jing.

Right now, the nurse assistant on duty in the mornings arrived. She noticed that Wei Zhe was awake when she looked through the transparent partition within the ward. Then, she carried the five crops congee prepared by the Wei Family in. She was about to say something when she saw Wei Zhe hushing her.

The nurse assistant followed the young man’s gaze and saw the deep in sleep Wei Jing. She nodded and left.

The congee was in the thermal bottle. It was fine even if they ate it a bit late.

It was almost afternoon by the time Wei Jing woke up from his dream, in a daze. He yawned loudly and his hair messy. His clothes were also wrinkled. He blinked his long eyelashes. His eyes seemed to tear up as though he was going to cry in the next second.

Wei Zhe couldn’t help but ruffle the child’s already messy hair with his free hand. “Quickly go wash your face and then eat. Look at yourself. You make it seem like I bullied you.”

Wei Xiao Jing’s face flushed, half asleep still. He shook his hand and ran to the bathroom with his slippers. He glanced at his stupefied expression through the mirror. There were also some unknown things by the corner of his eyes. The sorrow in his heart was about to flow out.

That’s what you get for sleeping so long. Now, look at you. You lost face again!

Wei Jing moodily brushed his teeth and washed his face. The congee in the thermal bottle was still warm. Wei Zhe opened the bottle. The strong but not provoking fragrance emitted into the air, arousing one’s appetite. When Wei Jing came out of the bathroom, Wei Zhe already ladled a bowl of congee for Wei Jing.

“Big brother, you’re not going to eat?” Wei Jing hurriedly shoved a mouthful of congee in his mouth, comforting the stomach that had been growling since early morning.

“You eat first. I didn’t brush my teeth nor did I wash my face yet.” Wei Zhe said, glancing meaningfully at the child. “It’s because someone tightly grasped my hand while sleeping, making it hard for me to even get out of bed.”

Wei Jing had already calmed down but then his face flushed again as a result of the words. He cupped his congee and said in a low voice, “Next time, you can put my hand to the side.”

“Oh.” Wei Zhe responded calmly. After a few seconds, the young man added, “So there’s going to be a next time?”

Wei Jing was speechless.

How was he supposed to respond?

The child looked miserably at him, making the palm of his hand tickle. Wei Zhe couldn’t help but ruffle the child’s soft hair again before walking to the bathroom to brush his teeth and wash his face.

Wei Family brought a huge quantity of congee. Wei Jing had a huge bowl and he was already full, not able to eat anymore. The rest went into Wei Zhe’s stomach. After all, he was a teen that was growing. Even more, he was weak because he got into an accident. It was the time for him to recuperate.

Wei Jing glanced at the white bandage faintly appearing under the young man’s white and blue striped patient clothes, feeling bitter.

If he hadn’t come here, his big brother wouldn’t have gotten into an accident. When he heard that his big brother might’ve become a human vegetable and a retard, he almost crumbled apart in his heart. He thought about what his big brother should do in the future. What if no one takes care of him? Therefore, he gritted his teeth and supported himself.

As for the situation right now…that’s extremely good.

His big brother became an even more outstanding big brother.

As for him, the “hindrance” didn’t exist anymore either.

“Big brother, if only I can be with you forever.” They were about to part ways. Wei Jing sniffled. He hooked his delicate fingers with the young man’s hand, choking back on his tears. He can’t cry. Wasn’t he basically asking his big brother for help like this?

“Why can’t we be together forever?” Wei Zhe grabbed the child’s soft hands.

“Because we’re all going to grow up.” Wei Jing thought that it would be best if they could be children forever. That way, no one would think there was something wrong with two boys stuck together every day.

“Let’s talk about it when we grow up.” Wei Zhe didn’t want to discuss this sensitive issue with the child. He wants to leave after he grows up? Heh. Had he asked him this before? The young man glanced at the clock on the wall and asked, “Don’t you need to go to school? Go home and change your clothes and rest for a while. Go to school in the afternoon. You can’t keep escaping class.”

“Mhm.” Wei Jing smiled, a bit upset. “Then I’ll be going, big brother.”
