Wei Zhe nodded. Up until that person left, his mind was still full of that smile. Why did he have to smile like that? Was there something bothering him? He touched the bandage on his abdomen. He wouldn’t be able to get discharged until a week later at the quickest.

The young teen knitted his brows. Everything should be okay. A week will pass by in the blink of an eye.. .

Wei Family’s servants still brought over his lunch. However, Wei Zhe finished it absent-mindedly before reaching for his phone. He looked at the date. It was Tuesday, October 17th, 2002. So Wei Jing skipped class yesterday? He raised his brows. Was he scared that he might be scolded by a teacher if he had gone to school? Was that why he was upset?

Thinking about this, he felt a bit more relaxed.

He was just reborn yesterday and needed to adapt to a completely new environment and the young Wei Jing. No matter how calm he made himself appear, he couldn’t help but feel ill at ease.

He slept for the night and calmed down. Now, he had time to think about his current situation.

He saw Wei He’s performance yesterday as well as how Wei Jing said he’ll snatch what he had lost back the night before. It seemed like this car accident wasn’t an accident, but rather intentional. Wei He left in a hurry yesterday. It seems like he went to handle the rest of the situation.

The man was always like this. He refused to act without some incentive.

He was too lazy to care about the other matters without confirming that he was okay first.

However…what went wrong to cause this car accident? Wei Zhe was deep in thought. He needed to wait until he was discharged from the hospital to find out who the culprit was. Then, he could also do some investigation.

He played with the rectangular phone and Wei Zhe couldn’t help but reveal a faint smile. It really is…the era of technology, no?

At the same time, Wei Jing led the nurse assistant to sign the lease contract with an agent. The white sheet of paper and yellow key proved that he was now the owner of this apartment with one bedroom, one living room, and one kitchen. Although his home wasn’t big, it was his.

Wei Jing felt relieved of a huge burden. Because of this, he felt a bit happier.

He gave the nurse assistant a red envelope of a hundred dollars. The child shyly smiled. “Thank you, aunty. Sorry for troubling you too much. Take this and go buy some snacks and water.”

It wasn’t that much, but in this time period, it was quite a bit too.

To Wei Jing, this amount was just right. If he gave too much, it’d be troubling for a child like him if someone harbored evil intentions after seeing how much money he had. If he didn’t give that much, he might not seem genuinely thankful.

That nurse assistant was a warmhearted person, pitying a child like him. He was kicked out of the house, so how could she bear to accept his money? She hurriedly rejected his offer.

Wei Jing forcibly shoved the red envelope into the nurse assistant’s hands. “Don’t reject me. If it weren’t for your assistance, I really didn’t know what to do. Take it. Otherwise, if I decide to continue extending the lease contract, I’d have no face to see you again.”

The nurse assistant agreed after hearing his words. She accepted the money and reminded him several times that he needed to go find her when he decides to sign an extension of the lease contract. She didn’t want him to be deceived.

Wei Jing nodded.

The nurse assistant took on night duty yesterday. She also spent the entire morning with Wei Jing, walking around. She was incredibly tired right now. She talked to the child for a bit before leaving and yawning.

The apartment Wei Jing rented was exquisitely decorated. There was a bed, desk, air conditioner, and a fridge. During this period of time, the former two items weren’t that cheap. Wei Jing felt extremely pleased. He went to the supermarket outside of his neighborhood and bought some daily essentials. It took him a lot of effort to bring everything back home.

After all of this, it was afternoon.

When the doorbell rang, Wei Jing was struggling on the bed. He was trying to make the bed and put the covers on.

“Coming.” He called out loudly and pushed the door open while he was at it. “Is there an issue?”

Wei Jing was stunned. He thought it was the real estate agent, but it was actually a very familiar but unfamiliar man. It was his father, Wei He.

Wei He wore a posh custom-made suit. From his hairstyle to accessories, it made him appear noble and mighty. His noble self was a huge contrast to the elevator in the neighborhood. Wei Jing subconsciously shrunk back. He asked, “…Do you need something?”

“Nothing really.” Wei He wore a faint expression. “Starting today, you don’t need to go to the hospital anymore.”

“Why?” Wei Jing clenched his fists, his gaze fiery.

“Don’t you understand such a simple matter?” He seemingly sighed. “I don’t want We Zhe to interact with you anymore. As long as you behave and don’t go to the hospital, I’ll try to get your name out of the registry. Didn’t you want to go there?”

He was referring to Wei Jing’s mother’s relatives.

Wei Jing held onto the security door, keeping his eyes down. He bit his lips. “I can only see big brother for a while. Even so, I can’t do that?”

“No.”

Wei He was stunned by their interaction yesterday. He really didn’t understand why his high and mighty son would be that nice to Wei Jing.

How could that be? Wei Zhe could be friends with anyone, but Wei Jing.
