Chapter 22

The two lines of text overlap at the letter "S" in the middle. The original meaning of the vertical text is: "Crux Sacra Sit Mihi Lux," which means "May the Holy Cross be my light";

The original meaning of the horizontal text is: "Non Draco Sit Mihi Dux," which means "Do not let the evil one lead me!"

At the top of the cross, there is the inscription "PAX," which means "Peace."

The four diagonal texts around it are: "C.S.P.B."

This is the abbreviation of the Cross of Saint Benedict, which means: "Crux Sancti Patris Benedicti."

And around the right side of the cross, there are the following words: "V.R.S.N.S.M.V." On the left side of the cross, there are: "S.M.Q.L.I.V.B."

Their meanings are: "Vaderetro Satana! Nunquam suade mihi vana!" which means "Begone, Satan! Do not tempt me with your vanities!"

And "Sunt mala quae libas; ipse venena bibas!" which means "The drink you offer is evil; drink the poison yourself!"

On the spine connecting the front and back covers of the *Exorcism Hymn*, there is a famous quote from Emperor Ferdinand I of the Holy Roman Empire: "Fiat justitia et pereat mundus......"

"Even if the world is destroyed, justice must be done......" Ymir recited Ferdinand I's maxim, his fingers gently brushing over the cover of the holy book.

Unlike what he had imagined, Ymir could indeed feel the power contained within this holy book, but this power did not harm his body at all. It was like a gentle spring breeze, warm and intoxicating, blowing straight into his heart, and it did not conflict with the negative energy he possessed.

This was truly strange. No matter how you looked at it, Ymir's body was formed from negative emotions. The power of the Church, as is well known, is a pure and positive energy. Yet, these two forces, which are completely opposite in nature, reached a balance through Ymir's body.

One positive and one negative, the two forces converged at Ymir's fingertips, achieving a delicate equilibrium.

Ymir slowly smiled. He indeed felt that his body was peculiar. Logically, as a vengeful spirit, he should not be able to appear in the sunlight. But strangely, Ymir could transform his ghostly form into a physical body.

A genuine, breathing, drinking, and eating physical body, and the sunlight did not harm him at all. This already set him apart from ordinary supernatural beings. Today's discovery was even more bizarre; even the holy light of the Church could not harm Ymir.

Is there really any power in this world that can harm him?

If it weren't for the consideration that this was a world of superheroes with countless strange abilities, and if it weren't for the quiet reading environment in the library, Ymir would have really wanted to jump up on a chair and laugh out loud to express his joy!

Just as Ymir was secretly suppressing his laughter, a young man wearing a Columbia University uniform sat down opposite him.

Ymir didn't pay much attention at first. There weren't many people in the library, but there were still a hundred or so. This place wasn't reserved for him, so of course, anyone could sit down and read.

However, he soon felt something was off. The young man sitting opposite him wasn't paying attention to the rare magical books. Instead, he was looking at Ymir with interest.

Ymir couldn't help but frown and looked back at him in confusion.

"Ymir, Ymir, I never thought you would come back alive." The young man sitting opposite Ymir sneered as Ymir looked up. His hands cracked with a "snap, snap," and he looked at Ymir with ill intent. "What, don't you recognize me?"

Of course, he recognized him. Even if the original owner of Ymir's body had long since died, or if this young man were reduced to ashes, Ymir would still recognize him. Rarely did Ymir need to recall anything; the identity of this person automatically surfaced in his mind.

It seemed that Ymir's body, while alive, had suffered no small amount of bullying from this young man.

With the guidance of Ymir's body memories, it was much easier for him to recall.

Unlike Ymir, who had genuinely earned his place at Columbia University through his own merits, the young man, Quentin Rand, had bought his way in as the only son of Herbert Rand, the chairman of the Brand Group.

Well, it could only be said that, whether in Ymir's past life or this one, the gap between the rich and the poor was significant, both domestically and internationally. To be fair, the Rand family was also a prominent millennium-old family within the Church's sphere of influence.

However, due to various restrictions, the Church, headquartered in Vatican City, could not directly control the development and growth of these families.

After thousands of years of development, the Church's control over the secular world's potential forces was far more extensive than it appeared. Of course, the truly obedient potential forces were far fewer than some people imagined.

With the rapid development of modern science and technology, many ancient families have been rejuvenated. The Rand family was one of them, making significant breakthroughs in new biology and reaching a relative peak in the study of human DNA mutations.

Such a powerful young master of a large group would normally have no interaction with a poor student like Ymir. However, by coincidence, Ymir and Quentin both fell in love with a girl, Belica, in the theology department of Columbia University.

This inevitably led to a certain kind of competition.

At least, that's how Ymir's body viewed it before he died. He saw himself and Quentin as rivals in love. Because of this, the usually timid and cowardly Ymir suffered no small amount of harm at Quentin's hands.

Even after his soul had dispersed and only his body remained, his hatred and fear of Quentin only increased. However, this unequal rivalry had actually come to an end a few days ago. A few days ago, Ymir's body was killed in the suburbs of New York City.
