"Paradise has a path you refuse to walk, and you insist on entering the gates of hell..." For someone who was so determined to court death, Ymir had no good way to deal with him. He suppressed his anger and opened the door.

A burly man, who looked to weigh around two hundred kilograms, stumbled in, holding a bottle of liquor in one hand and a silver pistol in the other.

The residents in the hallway, seeing Old Babu enter Ymir's home, quietly hid in the shadows, making the sign of God's protection for the poor siblings.

Old Babu, drunk from too much whisky, staggered to the dining table and sat down, chuckling at Ymir: "Little guy, you're home alone, where's your sister Kathleen? Tell her Old Babu is here, and she should come out to serve me."

As a qualified thug, Old Babu knew Hell's Kitchen like the back of his own garden, if he had one. He had long been eager to get his hands on the beautiful Kathleen, who lived in Hell's Kitchen.

However, the organization he belonged to had strict rules. Without orders from the big boss, no one dared to cause trouble in the apartment building.

Strangely, the Manhattan district, which seemed chaotic and hellish to outsiders, actually had its own set of underground rules. As long as you followed these rules, even an ordinary person could live here safely. If you broke even the slightest rule, even the Nightwatcher would be ostracized and hunted.

Today was an exception. Old Babu had received a task from the big boss to drive out all the residents of this apartment building. With such an order, Old Babu felt he could do anything.

Hearing this scoundrel mention his sister again, Ymir felt it was a desecration. He gritted his teeth and said angrily, "What did you say? I didn't hear you clearly!"

Even though he was drunk, Old Babu was genuinely surprised. He rubbed his eyes, unable to believe that the person standing before him was the notorious coward, Ymir.

Being scolded by a coward, Old Babu became furious. He slammed the gun on the table, his finger almost poking Ymir's mouth: "Brat, don't think that just because that scum Kirkley used to protect your family, you can be insolent to Old Babu. Do you know, Kirkley was personally taken out by our big boss. If you dare to talk to me like this, watch out, I'll..."

Ymir searched his mind. Hell's Kitchen wasn't a monolithic entity; it was divided into several factions. His sister Kathleen had managed to stand on her own in Hell's Kitchen, seemingly under the protection of one of these factions.

The Kirkley whom Old Babu said was taken out by the big boss was a member of one of these factions, probably in a position similar to Old Babu's.

Ymir shook his head in frustration. How could this body have been so muddled? Every time something important came up, his memory would go blank. He had only a vague impression of the organization that had been taking care of him and his sister Kathleen.

He was angry, partly because of Old Babu and partly because this body had been so useless in life. Ymir slapped away Old Babu's poking finger and asked curiously, "If I talk like this, what can you do to me?"

"Watch out, I'll—"

Old Babu's threat was cut short. He was stunned that the famous coward Ymir would dare to talk to him like this. Wasn't he just a bookworm who focused on his studies? People on the street would dare to crumple Byron's poems and kick them at his head.

Such a useless brat would have been beaten by some hooligan long ago if not for Kirkley's secret protection.

But what was going on today? Kirkley was already dead.

Old Babu couldn't figure out what gave Ymir the nerve to talk to him like this...

Ymir smiled faintly. "What, you have nothing to say? That's good. You won't need to speak anymore." He took a step back, his eyes glowing with an eerie light. "I've died twice for no reason, and I have a lot of pent-up anger. Old Babu, you're lucky to come to my domain..."

"Inner World, Land of Grudges!" Ymir crossed his arms and suddenly spread them wide, and a pitch-black mist spread out from his body like ripples in water.

Learning from the previous night's lesson, this time Ymir, in a clear state of mind, carefully confined the power of the grudge to his room.

Old Babu's face showed fear, a chill rising from his feet to his heart. In this small apartment, space and time were distorted, defying natural laws.

Ymir didn't need to act. Dealing with such a powerless ordinary person didn't require him to waste his energy. What he was more concerned about was the change in his own nature since he had been reborn in this world.

In his past life, he had just wanted to visit the museum to see the Spear of Longinus, but he was killed for no reason. And this body had an even more tragic fate, dying without knowing why.

The accumulated resentment from being killed in both lives indeed lingered deep in Ymir's heart. No one could remain mentally balanced after being killed twice.

If not for Old Babu's filthy words that defiled his sister Kathleen, Ymir might not have noticed this subtle change in his psyche for a long time.

Even though it was buried deep in his heart, over time, Ymir had no confidence that he could maintain his composure.

After all, even with superhuman powers, in this world, besides superheroes, there were also various supervillains. These supervillains fell because they couldn't control the dark side of their hearts.

Speaking of the dark side, whether it was a mutant born with special abilities, a super-soldier created through experiments, or even Iron Man, who could compare to Ymir, a being of grudges?

To put it bluntly, Ymir wasn't just psychologically dark; his very existence was a collection of negative energy. Although he looked like an ordinary human, with a mere thought, he could transform into a powerful ghostly spirit at will!
