Jihwan silently left the bed. He lowered his bed as much as possible and began sneaking toward the staff room. He kept his body low. He walked about 10 meters when suddenly, he could see someone walking in the hallway. Even with the dim light, he could see the overall silhouette of the person walking.

Long hair past her shoulders and a slim body…

She looked too familiar. Could it be…

“Miss Kang?”

“Ah!”

The woman flinched and turned around.

“…President Kwon.” Eunseo saw his face and bowed deeply.

It didn’t seem like she was surprised to see him here. This meant that she knew he would be here.

“I’m sorry I screamed. You scared me,” Eunseo apologized.

“I’m the one who’s surprised. What are you doing here at this hour?”

Jihwan’s heart was still pounding from thinking he would have to fight several robbers himself. His voice was sharp, and this made Eunseo anxious.

She whispered, “They told me everyone has to take turns doing the overnight shift. And I’m the first one…”

“What?” Jihwan couldn’t believe his ears.

He was certain all the departments were told about the fact that he was going to take the first shift. And even if the design team wasn’t told of this change, why would they send a female employee? When he was working in the construction department, they always excluded female workers from taking the overnight shifts.

Jihwan guessed that they got Kang Eunseo to take this first shift because she was the newest employee.

Eunseo explained, “There was a lot of traffic, which is why I am late. When I arrived, the guard told me you’re already inside.”

Jihwan massaged his temples and sighed.

“I made sure to tell everyone that I’ll take tonight’s shift. No one was supposed to come tonight. And I didn’t mean the female employees to take the shifts. I guess there was a misunderstanding.”

“Ah, okay.”

“Good. Now, you can go home and rest.”

When Jihwan ordered, Eunseo looked troubled.

“But the team leader told me to…,” She mumbled.

He was the CEO of the whole company, so why was she worried about what her team leader said? Jihwan felt both frustrated and amused by Eunseo. He supposed that she might be more worried about her direct superior that the president of the company.

Jihwan was about to tell her to leave anyway but decided against it. When her team leader asked her how her overnight shift went, he knew that it would be hard for her to say that she went home just because the CEO told her to. As the newest designer of the company, Jihwan knew Eunseo must want to make a good impression on her superior.

Besides, the door was closed from the outside. He would have to ring the emergency bell to call the security company in order to get the door open. Jihwan realized that it would be more trouble to go through all this.

He replied, “Alright. Then we’ll take the shift together.”

Eunseo finally looked relieved.

“Yes, President Kwon.”

“There aren’t any cots ready in the staff room, so we need to sleep in one of the booths. I’m already sleeping in the one-room booth. What would you like to do, Miss Kang?”

“I was going to sleep in that section too.”

“Oh, really.”

When they walked to the one-room section, Kang Eunseo stopped in front of one of the booths. It was the one Jihwan was sleeping in.

“Umm, are you sleeping in this booth, President Kwon?”

“Yes, why?”

“Ah…”

When Eunseo seemed hesitant, Jihwan asked, “Did you design this, Miss Kang?”

“Yes.”

Kwon Jihwan finally realized why this booth looked familiar. It was because it had the same feeling as the one he saw in Kang Eunseo’s portfolio that was included in her job application form.

“I guess you were planning on sleeping here, Miss Kang. Then I’ll move to a different booth.”

“N…no, there is no need. Please sleep here, President Kwon. I can sleep in the next booth.”

“But this is your work. I can’t kick out the designer.”

Jihwan was about to take his blanket off the bed when Eunseo insisted.

“No, I’m really fine. And I’m actually happy…” Eunseo suddenly stopped herself as if she didn’t mean to say the last sentence.

“Hmm?” asked Jihwan.

“It’s nothing.”

“You are happy? What do you mean?”

When Jihwan asked again, Eunseo replied hesitantly, “There are many booths here, but you chose this one. I just thought that it meant you liked the design.”

She sounded uncertain. Jihwan wondered why she wasn’t more confident in herself. He replied clearly, “Yes, I like it.”

A bright smile suddenly spread on Eunseo’s face. It was like a beautiful flower blooming on her lips. Jihwan realized that this woman was actually really expressive.

But before he could even blink, Eunseo put on her usual blank face and announced, “Then please excuse me, President Kwon. Have a good night.”
