15.

Eunseo’s condition didn’t interfere just with her dating life and marriage. It also inconvenienced her greatly on a daily basis.

She had to pump her breasts at least three times a day. First thing in the morning, at least once during the day time at work, and before going to bed. If she didn’t do this, she couldn’t function normally.

Her condition was diagnosed when she was in middle school. Her stepmother accused her of making things worse by pumping her breasts. So Eunseo stopped pumping, and after a few days, she almost died from mastitis.

When Eunseo ended up in the emergency room, her doctor was shocked by her condition. The doctor explained to Eunseo that this wasn’t her fault and that this was just a medical condition. So no matter what her stepmother tells her to do, she needed to pump her breasts every day. This wasn’t something to be ashamed of.

So to Eunseo, her breast pump was an absolute necessity in life. Yet she made the stupid mistake of leaving it downstairs with the guard.

Normally, she wouldn’t have been so foolish. This was all Kwon Jihwan’s fault. She was so distracted by him that she made this huge mistake. Eunseo bit her lips and blamed Jihwan silently.

She looked at the clock. It was almost 9 o’clock already. She could feel her breasts becoming heavier by the second. The last time she pumped them was around 3 o’clock at work. So she was due.

What was she going to do?

Eunseo began to sweat. Based on what the guard told her, the building door wasn’t going to open until tomorrow morning. The only way to leave this place was to ring the emergency bell.

The problem was Kwon Jihwan. She imagined how the conversation would go.

“President, I’m sorry but I left something outside. Can I press the emergency button?”

“What?”

Eunseo could imagine how the CEO would look at her in confusion. He would ask,

“Just what is it that you left outside that we have to press the emergency button?”

There was no way she could explain this to him. And Eunseo didn’t think this was important enough for her to wake up the entire security company in the middle of the night.

What would her coworker say if they found out? That she made a whole scene just because she left a personal item outside the building?

No, there was no way she could do this. Eunseo decided that she would rather die than go through that embarrassment.

Feeling like he heard something, Jihwan woke up again in the middle of the night. He looked at the clock and saw that it was 4:30 A.M. Through the window, he could see that it was still dark outside.

He tried to listen again, but this time, he heard nothing. Jihwan was about to go back to sleep when he heard it again.

This time, he was certain he heard it right.

“Hng…”

Someone was moaning.

Jihwan quickly got up. It was definitely a moan, but it wasn’t an erotic kind. It was obvious someone was ill.

The noise was coming from the booth where Kang Eunseo was staying. Jihwan quietly approached her and found that Kang Eunseo was crouched on the bed.

“Miss Kang?”

Instead of answering him, he heard her moan again. Jihwan asked,

“What’s wrong? Are you sick?”

“…It’s nothing.”

She could barely speak, and Jihwan could tell that she was definitely not okay.

“Let me have a look at you.”

When Jihwan turned on the lamp next to the bed, Kang Eunseo jumped in shock. She then crouched even more. When Jihwan studied her face, he saw that she was bright red.

“Oh no.”

He excused himself and touched her forehead with his hand. Jihwan jolted, realizing that Eunseo was burning up.

“You have a high fever. Where does it hurt exactly?”

“I…I think I have the flu maybe.”

Kang Eunseo mumbled in pain. Her voice indicated that she hadn’t slept a wink last night. She must have been suffering this entire time.

Jihwan blamed himself for being so slow. This woman was practically next to him dying, and he was snoozing.

“If you were so sick, why didn’t you wake me up?”

He was about to scold her but stopped himself. She was sick, and his priority had to be to make her feel better.

“Never mind. Let’s just get you to the hospital.”

The moment he announced, Jihwan remembered that the building door was locked. The only way to get out of this place was to ring the emergency button and alert the security company. It was unfortunate he had to do this, but there was no other choice.

“Wait here, I’ll go and press the emergency button.”
