“Mr. Kwon!”

Eunseo turned red and looked around, worried someone might have heard their conversation. Thankfully, no one seemed interested. Everyone was cringing in the cold and walking quickly to get to their destinations.

Eunseo stammered,

“Y…you don’t have to worry about that. We’re doing this because we both need it.”

“But you have to eat dinner, don’t you? So please get it,” Jihwan insisted.

Eunseo hesitated before signing. If she went home now, she was just going to be in her cold room with nothing to do. Nowadays when it was getting colder, she felt even her bones trembling.

So why would she want to hurry home? It would be so much better to have dinner with the man she had a crush on, of course.

When she got into his car, the pleasant warmth welcomed her. Turning up the heat for Eunseo Jihwan asked,

“Tell me if there is anything you want to eat. Something you’ve been wanting to have but you thought it was too expensive.”

“Snow crabs.”

Eunseo blurted out without even thinking. And after she did, she felt shocked. She thought she didn’t care how childish her stepmother and stepsister acted toward her, but she realized that perhaps their actions hurt her more than she thought.

“To be honest, I like everything.”

Eunseo couldn’t believe she asked for something so expensive. Feeling ashamed, she quickly changed her answer, but it was too late. Jihwan was already on his phone calling his secretary.

“Secretary Shin, please make a reservation at that place I went with Chairman Park before. Order something nice. Snow crabs and maybe some tuna sashimi too.”

After the call, Jihwan restarted his car. He suggested,

“The restaurant is nearby, but it’s rush hour so it will take about 15 minutes. You should rest and warm up a little.”

Eunseo felt her heart flutter at such kind words, but then, Jihwan glanced at her and scolded her,

“You know, you should wear something warmer. I guess it’s fashionable to wear thin coats, but you’ll catch a cold like that.”

Eunseo realized that Jihwan thought she was wearing such a thin coat to look nicer. Well, it made sense since Jihwan was born with a silver spoon in his mouth. He could never imagine that she wore this shabby coat because she couldn’t afford something nicer.

Eunseo didn’t blame him for being ignorant, so she kept silent.

She watched Kwon Jihwan driving quietly. His large hands with long fingers grabbed the handle lightly and gracefully. Remembering how those same fingers fondled her breasts earlier, Eunseo became embarrassed. She quickly turned away to look outside the window.

She wondered what it would feel like to hold his hand. It was ironic that he had touched her breasts, yet they still haven’t even held hands.

Jihwan asked,

“Don’t you have to call home and tell your family that you’ll be eating out? And that you’ll be home late?”

“It’s okay. If I’m late, they’ll just assume I’m eating outside.”

Eunseo knew her family wouldn’t care if she died on the street, so there was no way she was going to call her stepmother. Trying to change the subject, Eunseo asked,

“Don’t you have to call home, Mr. Kwon?”

“Oh, didn’t you know? I live alone.”

“Ah, I see.”

But… she remembered seeing a picture of a baby as a background on Jihwan’s cell phone. She asked,

“Umm… I saw that you have a baby picture on your phone.”

“That’s my niece. My older sister’s daughter.”

Jihwan seemed so happy to be talking about his niece. A proud smile appeared on his lips as he explained,

“She isn’t even 100 days old yet, but she’s adorable. My sister sends pictures to me every day, and she’s the love of my life.”

Just as Jihwan promised, it didn’t take them long to get to the restaurant. After handing the car for the valet parking, Jihwan and Eunseo were ushered into the restaurant by a waitress. They were escorted to a private room.

They must have gotten the call from Secretary Shin because the table was already set.

Sashimi, seafood, and other gourmet foods filled the table. In the middle of it was a giant plate of snow crabs.

Eunseo couldn’t believe her eyes.

Jihwan announced,

“Please enjoy.”

The snow crab was heavenly. It was so soft and it melted in her mouth. She dipped it in soy sauce and ate diligently.

Watching Eunseo, Kwon Jihwan grinned.

“Did you know that you look so happy when you eat, Miss Kang?”

Oh no… Did she look like a pig? Feeling embarrassed, she slowly put down the snow crab, but Jihwan stopped her. He grabbed an even bigger piece and handed it to her.

“No, go ahead. I brought you here because I want to see you eat, so don’t mind me.”

“Oh, you eat too, Mr. Kwon.”

“Well, I’m not really hungry because already I ate my fill of your milk earlier, Miss Kang.”
