“Her eyes are brown, but when the light hits them, they look much lighter. I thought they were beautiful.”
“Really? I never noticed.”
Eunseo began blushing again, but this time, for a different reason. It was after hearing this conversation that she fell in love with Seo Hyunwoo.
It has been a year since they worked in the same office. Every time Seo Hyunwoo talked to her, he never looked down at her breasts. He looked into her eyes instead.
To be fair, Eunseo tended to fall in love very easily. She knew this well, which was why she always acted coldly and business-like to all men. But she still couldn’t help her heart pounding wildly when someone showed even a little kindness. She suspected that it was because of how poorly she was being treated at home.
She had fallen in love many times before, but this felt different. She really loved Seo Hyunwoo. Just hearing his voice from far away was enough to make her gasp. There were times when she felt like her heart would explode.
And last night, Seo Hyunwoo confessed his love for her.
At first, she felt overjoyed. But despair followed quickly after. It took her so much effort to pretend she didn’t care about him. She was used to hiding her feelings, so it came rather naturally. She was able to fool him to think she wasn’t interested, but she still couldn’t help bursting into tears the moment he left.
Eunseo was so relieved that she was alone in the office that night. If someone saw her, they would have known exactly how she felt toward Hyunwoo.
When she returned home last night, she cried herself to sleep. She was sobbing even on the bus, making everyone stare at her like she was crazy. She cried and cried, yet her tears refused to stop. Eunseo desperately wished she would never fall in love again.
Of course, she felt this way every time this happened.
“I thought you were interested in me too…”
Remembering what Seo Hyunwoo said last night, Eunseo bit her lips. How did he know? She was so sure that she hid her feelings well.
She was walking mindlessly in the hallway when she bumped into the last man she wanted to see. Seo Hyunwoo stared at her, a cup of coffee in his hand.
“…Eunseo…”
Eunseo put on a business-like expression and greeted coldly, “Good morning, Hyunwoo.”
He had always given her a gentle smile, but now, he looked disappointed. He must’ve believed that what happened last night meant nothing to her.
He will never know how much she cried. This thought made her want to cry again.
Seo Hyunwoo mumbled, “Good morning.”
Then he walked away. Suppressing her tears from rolling down her cheeks, Eunseo put on a brave face.
She had cried enough last night. Thankfully, Hyunwoo didn’t know anything about how she felt, so all she needed to do now was to forget about him.
She needed to act as if nothing happened.
“Good morning.” Eunseo greeted everyone a little louder than usual. Her superior, Park Heesun saw her face and began to make a fuss.
“Eunseo, what’s wrong? Why are your eyes so red? Did you cry?”
“Huh? Of course not. Why would I cry?”
Eunseo gave her a quick smile.
Heesun was a married woman in her mid 40s. She was the oldest designer on the team, and because she was almost 20 years older, she took good care of Eunseo. Heesun often treated Eunseo like her little sister.
Heesun was a kind woman, so Eunseo liked her very much. But today, Heesun was being too nosy.
Heesun insisted, “You’re lying. You look like you cried all night.”
“I’m telling you that didn’t happen!”
“You worked late last night, didn’t you? Who did you work with?”
Eunseo waved her hands and shook her head, but Heesun wasn’t listening at all.
“Did someone make Eunseo cry last night? If you have a problem, you should leave her alone and talk to me. She’s new, so she will obviously make mistakes…”
Heesun stood up and began asking around. Her voice was getting louder, and Eunseo began sweating nervously.
Seo Hyunwoo, who was sitting a few seats away, was staring now. If he found out she cried last night…
Just then, someone asked loudly from behind.
“Did you finish everything I asked you to do yesterday, Miss Eunseo?”
When she turned around, she saw that it was CEO Kwon Jihwan standing behind her. He was looking straight at her and asking the question.
“Pardon?” Confused, Eunseo asked.
“I told you to bring me the paint samples for the new showroom, didn’t I?” Jihwan demanded.
He definitely didn’t order her to do such a thing. Eunseo looked confused, but Jihwan continued to urge her.
“Finish up and bring them to my room immediately.”
He turned around and was about to walk away when he suddenly looked back. He acted like he remembered something as he murmured, “Oh, how are your eyes? Some paint got into them yesterday, right?”
Jihwan studied her eyes and added, “Please be more careful from now on. They are environmentally friendly paints, but they can’t be good for your eyes.”
“Ah, of course, Sir,” Eunseo mumbled.
