Chapter 76
Jihwan thought everything was settled but he was wrong.
Jiye demanded, “But I have one condition.”
“What is it?”
“I’m going to go meet this woman when she signs the lease.”
Jihwan glared at his sister. “Why? This isn’t an interview!”
“Of course not. I just want to see what kind of woman it is that my little brother wants to marry, that’s all.”
“No way. You can’t,” Jihwan refused. He and Eunseo weren’t even dating yet, so if Eunseo found out his sister was there to interrogate her, things would go wrong.
But Jiye refused to back down. She insisted, “I’ll make sure she doesn’t know I’m your sister.”
“She’ll know the moment she sees your name, so how are you going to hide who you are?”
Kwon Jihwan’s sister’s name was Kwon Jiye. Their names were so similar that it was going to be impossible to hide that they were siblings.
Jiye explained, “I can just give her a different name. And the lease will have my husband’s name. My name won’t be on it.”
“The answer is still no.”
“Fine, then you can find another condo by yourself.” Jiye wasn’t going to give up, so in the end, Jihwan had to. He was desperate for Kang Eunseo to leave that terrible place as soon as possible. If he tried to buy a condo and lease it to her, it was going to take a long time. And even if he managed to do this, his name would be on the lease, so Eunseo would know.
Jihwan warned, “You can’t let her find out you’re my sister.”
“Got it. I’ll make sure she doesn’t find out, so don’t worry,” Jiye promised.
Jihwan replied, “Okay, then please do this tomorrow.”
“Okay!”
Jiye was about to leave when Jihwan stopped her. “Wait, you should have dinner before you go. I’m making fried rice.”
“No thanks. I need to go home and have dinner with my husband. And when Sehyun wakes up, she’s going to be screaming for me. She’s such a mommy’s girl, so I can’t go anywhere without her.” Jiye seemed tired, but she also looked content.
Watching her leave, Jihwan decided again that marriage could be a good thing. And he prayed that he would get to marry Kang Eunseo.

That day, Eunseo transferred the money to Mr. Kim right away. Mr. Kim texted her back thanking her that his wife was going to be okay now. When she saw this message, Eunseo knew she made the right choice.
But she still couldn’t help feeling depressed because she couldn’t leave her home. So she decided to just focus on her work. She had to work on an article for the magazine. As she looked through different designs and furniture, Eunseo sighed. She wondered when she’ll ever get to live in a nice place like the pictures.
Since she was a little girl, Eunseo had a dream of having a nice room of her own. She always imagined what it might look like, which led her to become an interior designer. But she was still stuck in this storage-like room, so she couldn’t help feeling bitter.
The next day, Eunseo got a call from the rental agency.
“Hello, this is Kang Eunseo.”
Eunseo was confused because yesterday, she told the rental agent that it would take her a few months to come up with the deposit. So why was he calling her so suddenly?
The rental agent exclaimed on the phone, “There is a new condo that came available for rent. It’s near the Korean Constructions building. It doesn’t require any deposit either. I was wondering if you would be interested, Miss Kang.”
Eunseo’s jolted. She asked, “No deposit?”
“No, you just have to pay the monthly rent on time. She said she’ll take 600 dollars per month.”
Eunseo asked, “Which condo is it?”
“It’s the DH Signature apartment building. You know the one, right?”
Eunseo was shocked. She knew exactly which building this was. It was less than 10 years old and it was one of those fancy expensive places. She knew that the deposit usually cost 300,000 dollars and the rent was about 2000 dollars per month.
So how could someone rent it for no deposit and 600 dollars per month?
Eunseo wondered if something very bad happened in this place. She asked quietly, “Umm, is it haunted or something?”
Even if she had to live with a ghost, Eunseo was willing to take this place. She would prefer to live with a ghost than with her stepmother and Seyeon.
“A ghost?” The rental agent laughed. “No, of course not. The owner has to go away suddenly, so this place is going to be empty. They don’t know if it’s going to be a year or two years, so it’s an awkward situation. They are going to leave all the furniture too, so they’re looking for someone who doesn’t have any furniture of their own. They are not doing this for money. A condo can get bad if no one lives in it for too long, right? So that’s why they’re renting it out cheap. I thought this would be a perfect situation for you, Miss Kang.”
