Chapter 79

Eunseo blushed as she remembered what they did yesterday. But she quickly shook her head and hurried to the rental agency.

As she walked quickly, Eunseo wondered if she would be able to refuse him again if he asked next time. She had told herself that she would never have him take her fully. Eunseo felt like if they went all the way, it would be too hard for her to leave him when the time came. She even slept in his home on Christmas, but she was able to avoid sleeping with him.

But yesterday, things got very dangerous.

She almost said yes when he asked her to take her. Eunseo somehow managed to refuse him, but she wasn’t sure if she would be able to refuse him again. It felt so good when he did what he did.

Finally, Eunseo arrived at the rental agency. The agent greeted her, “Ah, there you are. Let’s go see the place first, okay?”

Eunseo followed him.

The place he showed her actually had two bedrooms and even a walk-in closet. It actually looked way too big for Eunseo to live alone. And all the furniture and appliances were brand new. Eunseo saw a lot of fancy furniture for her work, so she knew everything in this condo was expensive.

Eunseo asked, “Are you sure the rent is only 600 dollars?”

“As I said before, the owners aren’t renting this out for money. They want someone nice and clean to take good care of their condo. I thought you would be perfect for it, which is why I called you, Miss Kang. Do you like it?” asked the rental agent.

Eunseo more than liked it. This place felt like a dream.

In a few minutes, the landlord walked in to sign the lease.

The landlord was an elegant woman in her mid 30s. She was very slim, and if she didn’t have her stroller, Eunseo would have thought she was an unmarried woman in her 20s. The woman wasn’t wearing any makeup, yet her skin glowed. Her clothes and her bag all looked unremarkable, but based on the gifts Jihwan gave her, Eunseo knew they were all expensive items.

It made sense because the rental agent told Eunseo earlier that this condo was worth two million dollars. Obviously, this landlord was a rich woman.

The woman sat down straight with confidence. For some reason, she reminded Eunseo of Kwon Jihwan.

“Hello, my name is Kang Eunseo.” When Eunseo bowed respectfully, the woman sat down and introduced herself, “I’m Kim Jiye.”

“Thank you so much for allowing me to rent this place. I can tell that everything here is brand new,” replied Eunseo.

“We just moved in, but something happened suddenly and now we have to move out. So I hope you make good use of this place.”

“I’ll make sure I don’t damage any of the appliances or furniture,” Eunseo promised.

“Don’t worry about that. Wear and tear are a normal part of life, so I don’t care about that,” Jiye replied.

Eunseo was shocked, realizing that this woman was very easy going.

They were waiting for the contract to be drawn up when the baby in the stroller began crying. Jiye quickly picked her up and consoled her.

“There, there. Don’t worry. Mommy is here.”

Eunseo never had a baby, so she couldn’t guess how old the baby is. But she looked very young. Eunseo found the baby so lovely, especially because she knew she would never get to have one in her life.

The woman took out a bottle and began feeding the baby. She asked, “By the way, why are you trying to live alone? What about your family?”

Eunseo wasn’t surprised by such a personal question. The rental agent told her earlier that the landlord wanted a single person. It made perfect sense that the landlord was worried Eunseo might bring her family to live here together.

Eunseo explained, “Both of my parents passed away. I have been living with my stepmother and her daughter, and now, I’m trying to move out.”

Eunseo emphasized the fact that she had no family.

“So you have been living with people you weren’t even related to?” asked Jiye in surprise.

“That’s correct.”

“Wow, that must have been very hard for you,” Jiye murmured.

The rental agent said that it was going to take a little while to print out the contract. So he brought some tea, and Eunseo and Jiye drank them while chatting quietly.

Eunseo felt awkward, but the landlord kept asking her questions.

Jiye asked, “So you must work nearby, Miss Kang?”

“Yes, I work at an interior design company named DH.”

“Ah, the one that belongs to the Korean Construction Corporation?”

“Yes, DH is an independent company now, but it’s still located in the same building.”

Jiye replied, “I know that company. Someone I know works in the DH interior company.”

“In our company?” Eunseo asked in surprise. “Which department?”

“I think in the HR department,” replied Jiye.

Eunseo felt relieved that it wasn’t someone on the design team. She didn’t do anything wrong, but it seemed that the other designers didn’t like her very much lately. Eunseo would have felt uncomfortable if someone Jiye knew worked in the same department.
