Chapter 80

Jiye suddenly said to Eunseo, “I heard the president of that company is really young. And I heard he has a very bad personality too.”

Eunseo became upset. She almost shouted that Mr. Kwon was a good man, but she stopped herself. Instead, Eunseo replied quietly, “I’ve only worked there for less than a year, so I don’t know him very well. All I do is say hello from time to time.”

“Ah, is that right?” Jiye nodded. She asked, “Miss Kang, do you have a boyfriend?”

This was again a personal question, but Eunseo understood why Jiye wanted to know. Jiye probably didn’t like the idea of Eunseo bringing her boyfriend to her home all the time.

Eunseo replied, “Unfortunately, no.”

“Oh, why not? You’re so pretty and you have a nice job.”

“I guess I just haven’t found the right man.”

Jiye suddenly asked, “Then do you want me to introduce you to someone? I know a lot of great single men.”

Eunseo quickly shook her head. She had to refuse the man who liked her, so why would she want to be introduced to strangers?

Eunseo replied, “Thank you, but I’m not interested in dating right now. I want to focus on my career.”

“But dating is very important. How about a doctor? I can introduce you to one. Maybe a lawyer? Or a businessman? Just tell me, and I’ll find you a perfect man,” Jiye insisted.

“No, it’s really okay. I’m fine on my own.”

But Jiye was very insistent. When she offered a few more times and Eunseo refused, Jiye smiled and murmured, “Come on. You keep saying no, so I think you must have a man already.”

It seemed that there was a misunderstanding. Trying to explain better, Eunseo decided to be honest.

“That’s not it… It’s just that… there is someone I like.” Eunseo blushed.

“Really?” Jiye seemed very interested. “Who? What kind of a man is he?”

When Eunseo seemed confused about her landlord’s curiosity, Jiye waved her hand and explained, “I just haven’t dated in a long time so I love hearing about romance stories. If I made you feel uncomfortable, I apologize.”

Eunseo could tell Jiye didn’t mean anything by it. She smiled and replied, “He’s an amazing man. He’s very handsome and kind too.”

“Kind?” Jiye seemed surprised and confused. She asked, “If you like him, why don’t you date him?”

Eunseo smiled bitterly. “Because he’s out of my league. I’m not good enough for him.”

It was then that the rental agent brought the contract. When Eunseo saw a man’s name on the contract, she looked at Jiye in confusion. Jiye quickly explained, “That’s my husband’s name.”

They signed a few spots, and the deal was completed.

Eunseo bowed again and thanked Jiye, “Thank you again for this opportunity.”

She couldn’t believe that she got to live in such a nice place. It was like a miracle, and she felt so grateful to her landlord.

Eunseo took out two nice boxes and handed one to Jiye. “This isn’t much, but I wanted to show you my appreciation.”

It was a box of tarts from a famous dessert place nearby. It cost a lot of money, especially to Eunseo, but she really wanted to show how appreciative she was.

Eunseo gave one box each to Jiye and the rental agent. They seemed happy.

“Oh, thank you so much,” Both Jiye and the rental agent replied.

Jiye put down the baby in the stroller and they all walked out at the same time. Jiye offered to Eunseo, “If I have anything to tell you about the condo, can I call you by the number in the contract?”

“Ah, yes,” Eunseo replied. “I’ll give you my business card too.”

Eunseo handed Jiye her card.

Jiye replied, “I’m sorry, but I don’t have a business card. I’m just a mom.”

“No, that’s not a problem.”

Jiye and Eunseo were chatting for a few more minutes outside the rental agency when the agent ran out.

“Ma’am, please wait. You need to check something here.” The rental agent showed Joye something.

“Pardon?” Jiye asked.

“I think you put the wrong number here. Are you sure these last four digits are correct, Ma’am?”

“Ah, you’re right. Let me fix that right away. I’m sorry about that.”

While Jiye and the rental agent talked, Eunseo kept her eyes on the stroller. She wanted to get closer to look at the baby, but she didn’t dare. She didn’t want the baby to catch a cold or something from her.

Just then, Eunseo saw an SUV driving toward them. They were standing very close to the road. Eunseo assumed that the SUV would move out of the way, but suddenly, she realized that it was coming faster toward the stroller.

Before she knew it, Eunseo jumped toward the baby.

“Oh my god!”

“My baby!”

Jiye and the rental agent screamed.
