Chapter 81

The car barely missed Eunseo and the stroller. It rolled down a little bit further until it stopped in the middle of the road. Eunseo was on the ground, and she couldn’t get up for a long time. She was so shocked that she felt like her heart would jump out of her chest.

“Seohyun! My baby!” Jiye screamed.

The rental agent screamed as well. Both of them ran toward Eunseo and the baby. Jiye grabbed the baby from the stroller and hugged her tightly. The rental agent knelt beside Eunseo and yelled, “Oh no! Your foot!”

Eunseo was in such shock that she didn’t even feel any pain before. But now, she realized that the car drove over her foot. Eunseo tried to wiggle her toes. They hurt, but she could still move them, which was a good sign.

Eunseo replied, “I think I’m okay.”

When Eunseo tried to stand up, the rental agent stopped her in a hurry. “Don’t move. I’m going to call 911!”

Watching Jiye hugging and crying over her baby, Eunseo sighed in relief. The baby was safe, and that’s all that mattered.

Jihwan stared down at his phone anxiously. Eunseo and his sister were supposed to meet at one o’clock, so they should have been done signing the contract by now. Jiye had been texting him all morning about what was going on, but she hadn’t contacted him for a while now. It was well over two o’clock, and Jihwan hadn’t heard anything yet.

Jihwan was desperate to know how the meeting went. To be honest, he didn’t care how his sister felt about Eunseo. Eunseo was perfect for Jihwan, so it didn’t matter if his sister didn’t like her.

What Jihwan was worried about was how Eunseo felt about his sister. What if Eunseo found out that Jiye is his sister? What if Eunseo thought that his sister was too aggressive? Jiye was going to be Eunseo’s sister-in-law, so if Eunseo didn’t like her, it could be a problem.

Now that he knew he wanted to get married, he felt cautious about everything. In the end, Jihwan couldn’t wait any longer. He finally called Jiye. His sister didn’t answer his call several times, but when she finally did, Jihwan asked, “Did everything go okay? Did you sign the contract? Why didn’t you call me?”

Jiye said on the phone.

-I’m sorry, I can’t talk now. I’m still in shock.

Jihye sounded so different than usual, and Jihwan became worried. He asked, “What’s wrong? Did something happen?”

-Seohyun almost got hurt.

Jihwan’s heart fell at the news. He couldn’t believe his niece was in danger. He asked, “What? What are you talking about? Is Seohyun okay?”

-Seohyun is fine. I told you I can’t talk right now. We’ll talk later.

Jiye hung up the phone. Jihwan couldn’t help being confused. His sister and Eunseo were supposed to have a short meeting, so why was his niece in danger? Did something happen?

Jihwan suddenly wondered if Eunseo was okay. He quickly called her.

-Yes, Mr. Kwon.

Eunseo answered his phone immediately, but her voice sounded different just like his sister’s. Just what was going on?

Jihwan asked, “I thought you were signing a new lease today. Did everything go okay?”

-Yes, I went to the rental agency a little while ago.

“Then are you going to your new home now?” asked Jihwan.

There was a short pause before Eunseo answered.

-I’m in a hospital.

Jihwan’s eyes widened in panic. Why was Eunseo in the hospital? Did she skip her meal again?

“Why are you at the hospital? Did you faint again on the street?”

-There was a minor fender bender. I didn’t get hurt much.

“Where are you now?”

-I’m fine, Mr. Kwon. I just got a little bruise, that’s all.

“Tell me where you are right now!”

-But I’m really okay. You really don’t have to come.

Eunseo kept refusing to tell Jihwan where she was. Jihwan felt like he was losing his mind. He needed to see her with his own eyes and make sure she was really okay.

Jihwan yelled, “I’m your boss! Tell me where you are right now!”

In the end, Eunseo told him the name of the hospital. It was near their office, so Jihwan began running. The hospital was only a few blocks away, so Jihwan didn’t want to waste time getting his car. So he ran out of the building, shocking everyone in the building lobby.

He ran for about 10 minutes. He was panting hard when he arrived at the hospital. He reached the front desk and asked the nurse where Kang Eunseo was. When he learned which floor she was in, he began running again.

When he finally reached the hospital room, he opened the door loudly. Inside, Eunseo and the nurse stared at him in shock as the door burst open.

“…Mr. Kwon,” Eunseo whispered in shock.

“What happened?!”
