Kang Eunseo cried for close to 30 minutes. She was still crying as she left the office. She was almost staggering as she walked out, and Jihwan wondered if Eunseo liked Seo Hyunwoo too.
And the next day, he knew this was true. When he saw Heesun accusing Eunseo of crying all night, he noticed Eunseo’s face turning red. He also saw that Eunseo kept glancing at Seo Hyunwoo. She was clearly afraid Hyunwoo might find out how she really feels.
And Jihwan was the only one who knew what Eunseo was going through. At that moment, he did something he would never do.
He got involved to help her.
It was very unlike him to do this. Jihwan didn’t like getting involved in his employee’s personal businesses. He was never interested in other people to begin with.
Yet he did something so unthinkable. Jihwan wondered if it was because he saw Eunseo sobbing so sadly. He had always thought she was like a robot, so it was a shock to see her crying like that.
Jihwan couldn’t understand why she rejected Hyunwoo if she liked him that much. Seo Hyunwoo was a good man and fairly good looking. He was also a senior designer, which meant that he could probably help her.
It was such a mystery, but what surprised Jihwan even more was that he finally realized Kang Eunseo wasn’t a robot at all. Even now, she looked so happy as she ate her food.
He had never seen someone look so happy to be eating something. Yes, he has watched those cooking shows where people exclaimed over pretty dishes and claim they were delicious, but no one seemed to enjoy food like Kang Eunseo did just now.
Kang Eunseo’s face looked relaxed as she chewed her food carefully. Every time she swallowed, her eyes closed gently, indicating how delicious the curry must be.
Was curry supposed to be this good?
Jihwan had to stop himself from going into the same restaurant and ordering the same dish.
Jihwan was 31 this year. He wasn’t an overly cold person, and he didn’t make a point of distancing himself from his employees. Yet everyone found it hard to talk to the young boss. It probably was partly because he was the grandson of the chairman.
Knowing they felt uncomfortable around him, Jihwan didn’t see the point of forcing them to befriend him. Whenever they had company dinners, he always left early so his employees could enjoy themselves.
He knew Kang Eunseo must feel the same way about him, which meant that if he walked in just now, she was going to feel awkward.
Kang Eunseo continued to eat her food dreamily. Jihwan didn’t want to interrupt her. After watching her for a while, he finally left, promising himself that he will try this same curry tomorrow.

Jihwan’s mother called him 1 o’clock in the morning.
-Jihwan, are you asleep? We have a problem!
Jihwan’s mother acted like her house was on fire. Worried, Jihwan woke up and asked, “What’s wrong, Mother? Did something happen?”
-You need to go to your sister Jiae’s home and bring her husband here. It’s an emergency, so you need to hurry!
His older sister Jiae married two years ago and lived nearby.
“Why? What’s wrong?” Jihwan asked. His sister gave birth to her first child and she was staying in their parent’s home at the moment to get help with her baby.
-Jiae is practically dying!
“What, she’s sick? Then she should go to the hospital. Why are you asking for her husband…?”
-Gosh, you know nothing. And you don’t have to know. Only people with babies know about this problem.
Jihwan’s mother scolded him.
-Anyway, stop arguing and go get your brother-in-law. I think he is having a drink with his co-workers to celebrate becoming a father. So we can’t have him driving, right?
Then why didn’t he just take a cab? Jihwan thought about suggesting this, but he changed his mind. After his father died five years ago, it seemed that his mother felt more dependent on him and his sister.
Besides, Jihwan was very close to his older sister. He also liked his brother-in-law. Jihwan became worried about Jiae, so he thought it would be a good idea to visit her.
“I’ll be there soon, Mother,” Jihwan promised. He hung up and got dressed quickly. After grabbing his car key, he walked out. His brother-in-law must have already got a call from his mother because he was waiting.
“I’m sorry, Jihwan. I didn’t know this was going to happen. If I knew, I wouldn’t have gone drinking…”
Jihwan’s brother-in-law got in the passenger seat and apologized. He looked genuinely guilty. He looked perfectly fine, but Jihwan could smell faint alcohol from him.
Jihwan replied, “It’s alright. Is Jiae very sick?”
“Apparently, she’s suffering from mastitis. Your mother said that when this happens, the husband needs to help her with… his mouth. You know, help to suck the milk out…”
