8.

Jihwan made sure to get off work on time today. He had been working late almost every night for the past month, and he felt embarrassed about it. After all, he was the one who told his employees not to be an idiot and work late. If he continued to do it, his employees were going to feel pressured to work late too.

The problem was that he had nothing to do even if he got home early. It wasn’t like he had a girlfriend or a hobby. All he would end up doing is just work some more at home.

All he did was work and work. People called him a workaholic, but the truth wasn’t he didn’t particularly like to work. He only did it because he had nothing better to do.

Jihwan wasn’t interested in anything in the world, which included his work. The only thing he was crazy about was something that was in the past now. It was taken away from him, and ever since then, he just lived like a zombie. His life was like a thick boring book written by the worst author. No matter how many pages you read, you weren’t going to find anything interesting in it.

Taking his laptop with him, Jihwan was troubled by the same problem he had every evening.

What was he going to have for dinner?

He didn’t particularly like takeouts, but he wasn’t interested in cooking either. Most nights, he just had some snacks and a couple of cans of beer.

Jihwan got off in the lobby from the elevator rather than in the parking lot. He didn’t bother driving to work because he only lived 10 minutes away. Korean Constructions’ chairman, who was Jihwan’s grandfather, hated commuting. So he bought the land next to the headquarters building and built a condo there.

Of course, after living there for only a few years, the chairman decided that he couldn’t stand living in a condo. It was so ironic for the chairman of a construction company to say something like this. In the end, he moved to a detached house in Dogock.

This meant that Jihwan ended up taking over his grandfather’s penthouse.

The place was as luxurious as it could be. It was built for the chairman after all. Even though it was 10 years old, it still looked brand new like it was decorated yesterday.

The truth was, this wasn’t exactly Jihwan’s taste. He wasn’t into extravagant styles or overly large houses. He had been living here for five years, yet there were times when this still felt like a stranger’s house.

He didn’t want to get home, but there was nothing to do outside either. Jihwan walked slowly when suddenly, he stopped. He thought he saw someone familiar through the glass window of a small restaurant.

Kang Eunseo was eating alone.

Jihwan took a step back to look at the sign. The restaurant was named “Your Mother’s Curry”.

He was surprised at what he saw. Eunseo was eating alone, and he had no idea this woman could make a face like she did right now.

Kang Eunseo was a beauty. Her porcelain skin and her gorgeous facial features made her look very doll-like. She wasn’t overly tall, but her arms and legs were very long, making her look taller.

She always reminded Jihwan of a barbie. Her voluptuous body also resembled a barbie too.

But it looked like Kang Eunseo did her best to hide her body. She only wore the most modest clothes. Because his company worked in the design industry, people tended to care a lot about their fashion too. Most designers wore colorful outfits, which made his workplace sometimes look like a field of flowers.

But Kang Eunseo was different. She was the only one who also wore black, brown, gray, or white. Jihwan couldn’t remember her wearing anything else.

Eunseo was also very business-like with almost no facial expressions. She rarely smiled and her tone was very cold. The only things he had heard from her were…

“Thank you, President.”

“Thank you for giving me this chance. I will do my best.”

“Excuse me.”

He could only remember these three sentences from her.

At first, he thought it was because he was her boss. Maybe she was just nervous around him. But he soon found out that she acted exactly like this with everyone else.

Because she was so gorgeous, he was told that there were many male employees who tried to ask her out. But because she was so business-like, they all gave up. At least this was what Jihwan’s secretary told him.

This was why when he saw her sob that night, he was shocked.

After she rejected Seo Hyunwoo’s love confession, Eunseo cried a lot. She was crying so badly that he couldn’t just leave her alone. But still unable to approach her, he had just watched her from around the corner. He felt like that was the least he could do.
