Chapter 85

Jiye called Eunseo right at lunchtime.

Jiye asked on the phone, “How are you doing? The rental agent told me you injured your foot.”

Just as Eunseo suspected, it seemed that Jiye didn’t know about Eunseo’s injury.

Eunseo replied, “It’s just a small bruise. The doctor X-rayed my foot, and everything looked okay. It’s just a minor injury, so they said as long as I keep it bandaged for a few days, it should be fine.”

Eunseo didn’t want to worry Jiye, so she tried not to make a big deal.

Jiye replied, “I’m so relieved. I think we need to meet.”

Eunseo guessed that Jiye was trying to give her some kind of reward. Eunseo didn’t want this. She only did what anyone would have done. So she tried to refuse, “You don’t have to worry about it. It’s not a big injury.”

But Jiye completely ignored her. “You are off at 6 o’clock, right? I’ll wait for you at the Mirae department store around 6:30 P.M. on the first floor cafe. It’s right next to your office building.”

Before Eunseo could even reply, Jiye hung up. Eunseo looked down at her phone in confusion. It seemed that Jiye still didn’t thank her yet.

Jihwan got a call from his sister a little after lunch time. He had been waiting for her call, so he answered it quickly. “Are you feeling better now? So what happened yesterday?”

Jiye explained on the phone, “Seohyun almost got into a car accident. There was a parked car on the hill that rolled down and almost hit the stroller.”

Jihwan could understand why Jiye was in such a shock yesterday. It was no wonder she couldn’t even talk coherently. Then suddenly, he realized that this accident sounded very similar to what happened to Kang Eunseo.

“Does this have anything to do with Miss Kang?” Jihwan asked.

Instead of answering his question, Jiye asked, “Didn’t Miss Kang tell you anything yesterday?”

“No, she didn’t. She just said that a car went over her foot.”

Jiye hesitated before explaining, “She got hurt while saving Seohyun.”

“What?” Jihwan closed his eyes in surprise. He was shocked when Eunseo got hurt, and hearing how his niece almost got killed was just as shocking.

Jiye continued, “If it wasn’t for Miss Kang Eunseo, Seohyun might have been in trouble.”

“How could you…!” Jihwan was about to scold his sister, but he stopped himself. It was probably Jiye who was most shocked and scared. So instead, Jihwan continued, “I’m relieved Seohyun is okay. By the way, you didn’t get caught, right? Miss Kang still doesn’t know you’re my sister, does she?”

“She has no idea, so don’t worry.”

“So what did you think of Miss Kang?” asked Jihwan.

“I liked her a lot. And I’m not saying this just because she saved Seohyun. She seemed very kind. She’s also pretty and very polite. She even brought me a gift for letting her rent my place,” Jiye praised Eunseo.

Jihwan grinned. He loved hearing good things about the woman he loves.

Jiye continued, “I’ll help you as much as I can. Don’t worry about Grandfather and Mom. I’ll take care of them, so you just focus on winning Miss Kang. You better not change your mind and fall for another woman. I’ll kill you if you do.”

Jihwan sighed in frustration. “I’m the only one who’s in love with her. I don’t think she likes me at all.”

“Don’t worry. I asked her about it and she said there was someone she liked. I think she was talking about you, and she just felt like she couldn’t talk about it.”

Jihwan smiled bitterly. Jiye obviously had no idea that Eunseo was talking about another man.

Jiye continued, “Anyway, I’m meeting with Miss Kang again this evening.”

“You’re going to see her again?”

“She saved my baby, so don’t you think I should thank her properly?” Jiye retorted.

Jihwan knew his sister was right, but he couldn’t help feeling uncomfortable that Eunseo saw too much of Jiye. He insisted, “Just make sure she doesn’t find out you’re my sister.”

“I’m more worried about you. Don’t do something stupid like thanking her for saving your niece,” Jiye warned.

Jihwan gasped. He realized that he might have said something exactly like this. He was glad Jiye warned him in advance.

When two o’clock came, Kang Eunseo finally came to his office as usual.

“Hello, Mr. Kwon… mmph!” Eunseo couldn’t even greet him properly because Jihwan kissed her so suddenly. The fact that Eunseo saved his niece and the relief that everyone was okay made Jihwan feel very emotional.

When Jihwan kissed her so passionately, Eunseo couldn’t breathe. She tapped his chest a few times, but Jihwan didn’t seem to notice. He only hugged her even tighter and kissed her harder. It looked like he wanted to eat her up.

Eunseo was almost out of breath when Jihwan finally let her go.

Panting heavily, Eunseo asked Jihwan, “W…what’s wrong?”
