Chapter 84

Jihwan replied, “I have something I need to do tomorrow evening, so I’ll try to get to your place as quickly as possible. Make sure you don’t say a word to those people until I’m there.”

Eunseo felt like he was overreacting. She didn’t think anything was going to happen, and even if something did, she was a grown up. She should be able to take care of herself, which meant Kwon Jihwan didn’t want to be there.

So Eunseo considered refusing his help. But remembering how upset he seemed just a moment ago when she rejected his help, she decided to keep quiet. Besides, this was one more chance for her to get to see him.

Eunseo replied, “Alright. Thank you. I’ll wait for you tomorrow.”

Jihwan smiled in satisfaction. “I won’t bother you anymore, so you should rest until we get to work. Maybe you can take a nap if you want.”

Sitting in a luxury car and listening to jazz was something Eunseo never expected to experience. She was relaxing and enjoying herself when suddenly, she realized that they were close to their office now.

“Please let me off here now, Mr. Kwon.”

“Hmm? Why?” asked Kwon Jihwan.

“What if someone sees me get out of your car?!” Eunseo knew what kind of gossip would rise if someone saw her in Jihwan’s car. There was no way she could stay in his car as he parked it in the building parking lot. The guards and maybe others from her office might see them together.

Jihwan protested, “Who cares? Even if someone sees us, they’ll just think it’s nice I’m driving an injured employee to work.”

Eunseo couldn’t understand how naive Jihwan could be. He was an amazing businessman, but he was so ignorant of the real world. If her co-workers found out about this, they were going to spread nasty gossip about them.

Eunseo insisted, “Please let me off. You need to hurry.”

“Don’t worry about it. Your foot must hurt, so I’ll take you all the way to the office.”

“Mr. Kang! Please!”

When Eunseo yelled, Jihwan finally nodded, “Fine, fine.”

They were so close to the office building now when Jihwan stopped on the side of the road. Eunseo grumbled, “We need to be careful. What if a strange rumor starts about us?”

“So I guess you’re afraid such a rumor will inconvenience you, Miss Kang?” asked Jihwan with an unhappy frown.

“Pardon me? What do you mean?”

“You’re afraid Seo Hyunwoo might find out about us, aren’t you?” Jihwan looked upset.

Eunseo had no idea what Jihwan was talking about. With a confused look, she got off the car and thanked him, “Thank you for driving me to work, Mr. Kwon.”

Eunseo was afraid someone might see her. So she began walking fast away from the car. She walked into her office and greeted everyone, “Good morning.

Suddenly, one of the senior designers frowned when she saw Eunseo’s boots. She scolded Eunseo, “Don’t you think those shoes are inappropriate for work, Miss Kang?”

This senior designer used to be nice to Eunseo before. She used to praise Eunseo and even give her advice. But lately, this senior designer, along with the others in the office, had been cold to Eunseo.

Eunseo tried to explain, “I sprained my foot yesterday, so it’s bandaged. I’m sorry…”

The senior designer knew she couldn’t scold Eunseo further. So without a word, she walked away.

Eunseo sighed quietly. It seemed like her co-workers hated her for some reason, and she had no idea why. Eunseo also didn’t know what to do about it since she didn’t know why they were angry at her.

The only person who seemed to worry about Eunseo was Heesun. Heesun asked, “You should’ve been more careful. I heard you went to the rental agency yesterday. Did the accident happen on your way there?”

When Eunseo told Heesun what happened, Heesun looked shocked. “Oh my god, I’m so proud of you, Eunseo! The baby’s mother must have been so scared! She must be so thankful to you, Eunseo.”

“Well, she was crying so hard. She couldn’t say anything,” Eunseo replied. After the accident, the rental agent called 911. Eunseo was quickly taken to the hospital, but Jiye was crying so hard that she never even thanked Eunseo. Jiye kept hugging her baby and sobbing, and Eunseo could understand how shocked Jiye must be. After all, her baby almost died.

Heesun agreed with Eunseo. “I’m sure she was so shocked, which must be why she didn’t get the chance to thank you. I’m sure she’ll call you soon. When she does, you should ask her for a discount on the rent.”

“It wasn’t a big deal, so I would never ask that!”

“What do you mean it wasn’t a big deal?! Eunseo, you’re a hero! You saved her baby! She owes you!” Heesun jumped in protest.

And just as Heesun predicted, Eunseo’s landlord called that day.
