Chapter 87

Eunseo realized that this was the reason why Jiye wanted to meet at the department store.

Eunseo shook her head quickly and protested, “I’m fine. I can’t wear regular shoes right now anyway.”

“But you said you’ll have the bandage off in a few days. You can wear them then, can’t you?” Jiye asked.

“But I’m really fine. Those shoes weren’t very expensive either.”

Jiye sighed. “Miss Kang, do you know how many times you refused me today?”

Eunseo flinched, realizing that maybe she refused her too many times.

Jiye continued, “You need to be a little bit more selfish. Too much greed is bad, but too little greed can be harmful too. When someone offers you something, you need to learn to take it!”

It sounded like Jiye was scolding her, but Eunseo didn’t feel bad about it. It felt like Jiye was acting like a big sister giving good advice, so Eunseo appreciated it.

“Alright,” Eunseo said quietly.

“Good. Let’s go now.” Jiye helped Eunseo stand up. Eunseo was about to say she doesn’t need help but stopped herself. Jiye was wearing a nice perfume, and Eunseo felt her heart beat a little faster.

Jiye took Eunseo to a luxury brand store. The moment Eunseo saw the famous logo, she felt overwhelmed. Since Jihwan bought her so many expensive clothes, Eunseo should have been used to it. But she wasn’t.

Jiye was considerate. Since Eunseo was limping, Jiye didn’t drag her to a different place. They stayed in one shoe store, but Jiye chose many shoes for her.

Jiye ordered the sales clerk expertly. She chose many pairs for Eunseo, and when Eunseo seemed interested in one particular pair, Jiye tried to buy her all the colors the pair came in.

Jiye ordered the sales clerk.

“These look good. We’ll take them.”

“Do you also have anything that looks quieter? Something more business-like.”

“I want to see some with high heels. Something more extravagant.”

“Can you also bring out some sandals? Maybe some open-toed shoes too?”

Eunseo remembered Kwon Jihwan giving her a coat in all colors, and wondered if all rich people shopped this way. Eunseo tried hard to stop Jiye, but it was no use. By the time they were done, Eunseo had ten huge shopping bags. Jiye carried most of them for her.

“Thank you so much. I’m not sure if it’s really okay for me to accept them…” When Eunseo looked so flustered, Jiye interrupted her.

“That’s enough. I’m thirsty, so let’s go get some coffee and rest.” Jiye took Eunseo to a nearby cafe. Eunseo was confused because she thought they would part ways now that they bought some shoes, but it seemed they weren’t done.

Jiye announced, “We got you some shoes, so we obviously need to get you some clothes and bags too, don’t we?”

Eunseo shook her head in shock. “No, I have lots of good clothes and bags already.”

Jiye took a step back and examined Eunseo’s outfit. Jiye murmured, “Well, I guess you do. You are actually dressed nicely. Did you buy that coat yourself?”

Jiye obviously had excellent taste. Eunseo was wearing the clothes Jihwan bought her, and Jiye seemed to approve of her appearance.

Eunseo answered, “No, it was a gift from someone.”

“…Hmm, he’s got a decent taste, I guess,” Jiye mumbled under her breath so that Eunseo couldn’t hear her.

Eunseo asked, “Pardon? I didn’t catch what you said.”

“It’s nothing. I admit that your coat looks fine, but I still don’t like what you’re wearing underneath. So we should get some coffee and take a look at some clothes,” Jiye ordered.

“But I’m really fine…”

When Eunseo tried to refuse, Jiye raised her eyebrows.

In the end, Eunseo replied, “Thank you.”

Jiye smiled in satisfaction. “Good. Can you order black coffee for me? I need to go call my husband that I’ll be a little late.”

“Okay.”

After Jiye left, Eunseo ordered coffee and sat down. Looking at the pile of shopping bags, Eunseo sighed. Jiye seemed so strong that Eunseo found it hard to say no to her. It was the same kind of charisma Kwon Jihwan had. There was an unusual power to both of them. Eunseo guessed that Jiye was no ordinary housewife.

Eunseo was in awe of Jiye, but it wasn’t simply because Jiye bought her expensive shoes. Jiye was such a dazzling woman, and Eunseo wished she had an older sister like her.

Their coffee arrived, and Eunseo was taking a sip when she heard someone call out to her.

“Oh, Miss Kang Eunseo?”

When Eunseo looked up, she saw that it was Hong Yeri.

“Miss Hong,” Eunseo rose and greeted. Since she was in a department store near her work, it wasn’t a surprise that she bumped into a co-worker.

Of course, this didn’t mean Eunseo was glad to see Hong Yeri.
