Tang Sen couldn't help but laugh and said, "Speaking of which, who exactly did you buy the PS4 for?"
"I'm buying it for my owner, Rulai." The mouse spirit girl giggled, "I'm Rulai's pet mouse. I gained my magical powers after stealing her lamp oil. My owner loves game consoles and game discs, so I sneaked out to open this character park to earn some money to buy her the latest game console..."
"What?" Tang Sen couldn't help but break out in a cold sweat.
The mouse spirit girl blinked her small eyes at him, adjusted her glasses, and giggled, "Mr. Tang Sen, I heard Lingji Bodhisattva talking to you about marriage. Could it be... you're the man the bodhisattvas always talk about, the one who's supposed to marry Rulai in the West?"
Tang Sen broke out in a cold sweat, "I am indeed the person they're talking about, but I haven't decided whether to marry..."
He was about to say he hadn't decided to marry Rulai, but the mouse spirit had already stopped listening and interrupted with a laugh, "I see... Mr. Bride-to-be, once you marry my owner, I'll be your pet mouse too. Then... hehe... I'll be your concubine... a litter of little mice won't be far off."
"Hmph, and me too!" Hu Nü said, "I'll also become your pet tiger... please take good care of me... but I want to make it clear, I won't be your concubine. If you dare to touch me without my permission, I'll report you to Rulai."
"What if you give your permission?" the mouse spirit asked.
"Hmph... that's a different story," Hu Nü said.
Tang Sen listened to their unreliable conversation and suddenly realized something. He pointed to the sky and shouted at the clouds, "Lingji Bodhisattva, come out! I promise I won't beat you to death. You've been talking about equality and mysterious verses, almost fooling me. I just realized that this mouse spirit is earning money for Rulai, so you deliberately indulged her, right? What a joke, you're just protecting your own. Why talk about equality and look down on me for not being at a high enough level? Come out and take your beating."
Lingji Bodhisattva's head emerged from the clouds, a bitter smile on her beautiful face, "Mr. Bride-to-be, you're too smart. You figured it out so quickly... I was wrong, okay? Once you marry Rulai and take charge of the Great Thunderclap Temple, I'll be your subordinate. Please don't hold a grudge and take revenge on me... I can't take much more."
Tang Sen pointed to the sky and shouted, "Cut the crap, don't let me see you again, or I'll beat you every time."
Lingji Bodhisattva shook her head, "I'm so beautiful, could you really bear to beat me?"
"Pfft, you don't look like a shut-in. I can bear to beat you completely!"
Lingji quickly made a hand sign and transformed into a bunny girl, "Can you bear to beat me now?"
Tang Sen hesitated, "This..." Damn, who could bear to beat a bunny girl?
Lingji took the opportunity, slipped away, and vanished without a trace.
Tang Sen looked up and laughed bitterly, "What kind of bodhisattvas are in the Great Thunderclap Temple? One Guanyin is enough to give me a headache, and now Lingji isn't any better. I don't know how many more tricksters are waiting for me on the journey to the West."
Forget it, thinking too much is pointless. Tang Sen waved to the handsome men and beautiful women, "Let's go, we're heading down the mountain."
The handsome men and beautiful women cheered and followed him. The handsome men kept a bit of distance, while the beautiful women surrounded Tang Sen like stars around the moon, their soft arms brushing against him.
These handsome men and beautiful women came from several cities outside the mountain, but they didn't dare to scatter and go home in different directions, fearing they might encounter more monsters in the mountains. They all followed Tang Sen west, planning to walk to a city outside the mountain and then take a plane or other transportation to go home.
Leading this group slowed down their progress on the mountain path. It was unclear how many days it would take to get out of the mountains.
By evening, Tang Sen set up three tents, which were clearly not enough. Fortunately, the handsome men and beautiful women were polite and didn't fight over the tents. They built a fire, made some grass nests, and slept around the fire. Although the environment was a bit rough, compared to the freedom they had just regained, it was nothing. The handsome men and beautiful women were all relaxed and fell asleep quickly.
Tang Sen didn't go back to the tent to sleep. He sat by the fire, holding the Heart Sutra given to him by Ji Dian the Living Buddha, reading it over and over: "O Sariputra, the essence of all dharmas is emptiness, neither arising nor ceasing, neither impure nor pure, neither increasing nor decreasing. Therefore, in emptiness there is no form, no sensation, perception, volition, or consciousness; no eye, ear, nose, tongue, body, or mind; no form, sound, smell, taste, touch, or dharma; no realm of the eye, and so on, up to no realm of consciousness; no ignorance, and no end of ignorance, and so on, up to no old age and death, and no end of old age and death. No suffering, no cessation, no path, no wisdom, and no attainment..."
What does this sutra really mean?
Tang Sen really didn't understand, but for some reason, he felt he did... It seemed as if his past and present lives were about to connect, but he couldn't find the key point... He tried hard to recall the dream he had during the battle with the mouse spirit. There seemed to be someone in the dream, but he couldn't remember who it was.
Just as he was thinking about this, a little girl sat down next to him. It was Sun Wukong. She threw a branch into the fire and whispered, "You suddenly became very powerful during the day. What happened?"
"I don't know!" Tang Sen shrugged, "I forgot."
"Pfft, you're so mysterious. You have a special move but you're hiding it," Sun Wukong pouted.
"I'm not hiding it," Tang Sen protested, "If I had to do it again, I wouldn't know how."
"Hmph, forget it..." Sun Wukong patted her butt and stood up, walking away, "Read the Heart Sutra more. It's the essence of the Great Perfection of Wisdom Sutra. All the wisdom of the Perfection of Wisdom is contained in this sutra, hence its name, the Heart Sutra... Ji Dian the Living Buddha isn't crazy. She must have a reason for giving you this sutra. Once you understand it, you'll understand her meaning..."
"I know that, but this mysterious sutra is really hard to understand," Tang Sen shrugged, "I don't know why, but I always feel I understand it, yet I also feel it's all nonsense."
"Nonsense?" Sun Wukong suddenly laughed, a bitter expression on her face, "500 years ago, someone said the same thing..."
"Huh? Who was it?" Tang Sen asked curiously.
"Not telling you!"
Tang Sen suddenly realized, "Wukong, if I'm not mistaken, you should be a Daoist. How can you know about Buddhist scriptures?"
"Haha, 500 years ago, someone often recited the Heart Sutra to me. After hearing it so many times, I gradually remembered some of it..." Sun Wukong lay flat on the grass, gazing at the starry sky. The countless stars seemed to pull her up. Although she was laughing, her expression wasn't happy, as if thinking about that person and that event from 500 years ago made her unhappy.
"500 years ago, why did you cause a ruckus in Heaven?" Tang Sen suddenly asked.
"Forgot..." Sun Wukong said, clearly not forgetting but not wanting to say, "Alright, I need to go to sleep. It's bad for a woman's skin to stay up late. For a sexy and curvy top-tier yuri like me, skin is very important."
Damn, why does a flat-chested girl always think she's a yuri? Tang Sen was exasperated, "Why do you insist on calling yourself a yuri?"
Sun Wukong's expression remained the same, her eyes shining as she looked at the night sky. After a long time, she said, "Forgot!" Even if Tang Sen were a fool, he could see she hadn't forgotten at all.
At that moment, a black shadow flashed in the grass at the edge of the camp, swift and silent, like a leopard...
