Xie Yan returned after buying dinner and some fruits that Ji Qinghuai liked to eat. After the two of them had dinner, he was responsible for cleaning up while Ji Qinghuai’s thoughts were on the phone.
After tidying up the table, he asked Ji Qinghuai, “Cherries or grapes?”
Ji Qinghuai casually replied with cherries, and when he returned to his senses, a box of yellow cherries that were still glistening with drops of water on them was placed in front of him.
Ji Qinghuai was stunned for a while before he raised the corners of his mouth. He looked up at Xie Yan, “It’s great that Mr Xie is here.”
Xie Yan ignored him.
As he popped a cherry into his mouth, the phone on the table vibrated. He took a look at it and smiled.
The next morning, a Rolls-Royce car pulled up steadily outside the set. The door opened and a young man in a black suit stepped down and smiled at Ji Qinghuai, who had been waiting for him, “Young master Ji, I’ve kept you waiting.”
This was Su Yuhe. The Su family was involved in business and had extensive financial resources. The family only had one son named Su Yuhe. Ji Qinghuai and Su Yuhe met when they were young and over the years, he had only one impression of Su Yuhe.
Rich.
Ji Qinghuai turned around and led Su Yuhe into the lounge, apologising, “I’ve bothered you to come early in the morning.” Hearing this, Su Yuhe chuckled, “Seeing you so polite all of a sudden makes me a little uncomfortable.”
“You still have to be polite,” Ji Qinghuai took the folder handed by Producer Ding and passed it to Su Yuhe, “Take a look, if there’s anything wrong, I’ll have them change it.”
Su Yuhe took the folder and said, “Okay.”
The two walked to the entrance of the lounge but before they had time to enter, Su Yuhe first saw Xie Yan who was sitting inside and was slightly surprised. Su Yuhe walked in and calmly greeted him, “Mr Xie.”
Ji Qinghuai was a little surprised, “You know each other?”
“I’ve seen him around,” replied Xie Yan.
Ji Qinghuai didn’t care much about it and poured a cup of coffee for Su Yuhe. Su Yuhe took it, put the coffee down first and sat on a chair to quickly read through the contract.
After a while, he raised his head, “Can you lend me a pen?”
If you want to sign a contract with someone, how can you not bring a pen? However, Producer Ding didn’t show this on the outside and politely passed over a fountain pen he had prepared.
Seeing Su Yuhe preparing to sign, Ji Qinghuai reminded him, “It’s not too late to reconsider.”
Su Yuhe smiled, “It shouldn’t be a problem since we have film emperor Ji.”
If this were the usual case, Ji Qinghuai would definitely boast a few words but he knew very well how dull martial arts was within the industry. As such, he really had no idea how well the movie would do.
Ji Qinghuai said truthfully, “I dare not guarantee anything, this time I really can only depend on luck.”
Su Yuhe bowed his head and signed his name. He closed the document and returned it to Producer Ding together with the pen.
“It’s common for a businessman to make or lose money, you don’t have to worry about it.”
Ji Qinghuai translated this sentence again.
If you lose, you lose. What I have is money, so it doesn’t bother me.
Ji Qinghuai couldn’t help thinking that the rich really were willful.
Su Yuhe got up and said, “I came this far, signed a contract and have to go back. It’s not cost-effective at all. If the two of you are free at noon, how about I invite you to a meal?”
Su Yuhe’s words were polite. There was no need for him to invite them, especially since he wasn’t the one who asked for help, but Ji Qinghuai was not polite and directly said, “It’s too kind of you to refuse. Then, I’ll have to give you face.”
Su Yuhe couldn’t help laughing, “That’s the attitude.” He looked at Xie Yan again, “How about Mr Xie?”
Xie Yan nodded, “Okay.”
After the funding problem was solved, there should be no more moths flying out. Ji Qinghuai could finally be at ease. Other people could solve the rest. Now, he just wanted to eat.
Ji Qinghuai picked two places and was about to ask Xie Yan which one he wanted to go to when a field assistant came in and said that the director was looking for him. Ji Qinghuai put aside the matter of choosing the place and went to the director.
As soon as Ji Qinghuai’s front foot was gone, Xie Yan stood up and said calmly to Su Yuhe, “Young master Su, may I have a word with you?”
Su Yuhe turned to the side, “Please.”
Xie Yan didn’t have to be polite with him and walked out of the lounge first. Su Yuhe followed after him. Xie Yan walked to a quiet place and stopped under a big tree.
“I don’t know why Mr Xie is looking for me?”
Xie Yan was too lazy to make a roundabout and directly stated his intention, “I have a question I would like to ask young master Su.”
Su Yuhe suddenly became interested, “What do you want to ask?”
On the tree beside Xie Yan, a bird flew up suddenly. “I want to know what Ji Qinghuai’s original form is.”
“A cat.” Su Yuhe replied instantly.
Xie Yan: “…”
With this answer, Xie Yan couldn’t pick out what he needed. “Be more specific.”
“Well…” Su Yuhe thought for a while, “Orange cat? Persian? Jingila?”
Thinking about it this way, Su Yuhe was also a little surprised, “I haven’t noticed what kind of cat Ji Qinghuai’s original form is.” After hearing his answer, Xie Yan was disappointed.
He thought that he would be able to determine whether Ji Qinghuai was the silver gradient cat from Su Yuhe but he hit a dead end again.
Ji Qinghuai’s original form was a cat. This was no secret, but he found it strange that no one knew what breed it was.
By the time Ji Qinghuai returned from meeting the director, it was almost eleven o’clock. The three of them briefly discussed what to eat and drove to the restaurant after making a reservation.
The lunch was very harmonious. Su Yuhe and Xie Yan were the guests but Ji Qinghuai didn’t even try to act out his role as the host. In the end, he managed to persuade Su Yuhe into investing in the film and unceremoniously helped himself to lunch.
In the afternoon, Su Yuhe stayed in the film crew for a while and watched a few scenes, becoming interested in the movie. After watching for a while, Su Yuhe glanced at the time and prepared to leave.
Ji Qinghuai sent Su Yuhe off and the two of them stood in front of the car.
“Thanks for your investment. If there’s anything I can do to help in the future, I won’t refuse.”
It was rare for Ji Qinghuai to be serious and Su Yuhe could see a fragment of Ji Xianzhi’s spirit in him.
Others said that Ji Qinghuai was self-willed and reckless. He was not at all like a child from the Ji family and didn’t have the demeanor of a young master. However, Su Yuhe felt that it was not necessarily true. He suddenly warned, “If there’s nothing wrong, you should stay away from Mr Xie.”
This sudden sentence stunned Ji Qinghuai. He was puzzled, “Xie Yan is just an ordinary little demon, why do I need to guard against him?”
Little demon?
Su Yuhe then understood that Ji Qinghuai didn’t know Xie Yan’s origins. Xie Yan wanted to know the original form of Ji Qinghuai, and Ji Qinghuai mistook Xie Yan as a little demon. This matter…
Interesting.
Su Yuhe didn’t intend to clarify the misunderstanding and only said, “Mr Xie asked me earlier what your original form is.” Hearing this, Ji Qinghuai was even more confused.
His original form was a silver gradient, hasn’t Xie Yan known it since a long time ago?
Ji Qinghuai suddenly pieced it together.
Is it… Xie Yan didn’t know?!
Upon seeing Ji Qinghuai’s reaction, Su Yuhe knew that he had guessed correctly,
“I didn’t specify what your form was but in the future, you can ask for more blessings.”
After that, Su Yuhe opened the door and entered the car, then the Rolls Royce drove away. Ji Qinghuai stood still, stupefied.
Xie Yan still didn’t know that he was the silver gradient cat. So when he asked Xie Yan if he already knew that night, what did Xie Yan’s “I found out before I came here” mean?
No, this wasn’t the point. The point was that he thought Xie Yan knew and he had even tried to flirt with him the past two days!
He silently regretted what he had done the past few days and raised his hand to cover his face.
It’s over. Maybe really Xie Yan saw him as a junior. He wouldn’t be able to wash himself clean even if he jumped into the reservoir again.
Can you believe that I misread ram (those animals that look like goats but with huge horns) as yam? The whole time I was writing about yams and was wondering where the hell black yams came from until my teacher went through it in class and I was like “…”
