Ch32 - Cold

For some reason, when he heard Xiang Yunfei arguing with someone at the door just now, Ji Qinghuai became inexplicably annoyed. Strangely enough, he couldn’t suppress the feeling no matter how much he tried. Instead, it grew stronger.
He raised his hand and rubbed his forehead, taking a deep breath to calm down. Xu Luo noticed that something seemed wrong with Ji Qinghuai and asked worriedly, ”Qinghuai, are you not feeling well?”
The cold poison was a blade hanging over his head that could drop at any time. Ji Qinghuai didn’t look very comfortable, wasn’t this a sign that the cold poison was acting up?
Ji Qinghuai shook his head and looked at Xiang Yunfei after his annoyance had faded a bit. “Just now, what did that person mean by selling fake medicine?”
“I was being falsely accused!” Xiang Yunfei explained the situation quickly, “That time, her son was unwell and she came to my clinic to buy some medicine for him. I asked her to go to the hospital for a check-up but she refused and insisted that it was just a common cold. I then prescribed her two boxes of medicine for a cold but she came back and made a fuss, saying that her son’s condition worsened because of my medicine and that I had been selling fake medicine. She’s been making trouble at my clinic for several days.”
He vowed, “I can guarantee that the medicine I sold her is authentic. I can’t make money by staking a human life, it’s against my conscience.”
“Really?” Ji Qinghuai stared at Xiang Yunfei coldly. “Then there’s no problem in giving me counterfeit medicine?”
Xiang Yunfei was stunned.
Sure enough, Ji Qinghuai came here to confront him.
But in front of Ji Qinghuai, he couldn’t admit that he sold fake drugs to the other person. This was the devil incarnate himself! If Ji Qinghuai found out that he had been cheated, it was a small matter to destroy the store. He was more worried about his life.
Xiang Yunfei could only harden his mouth and say, ” I don’t have even a single box of fake medicine.”
Hearing that, Ji Qinghuai was amazed. His hand suddenly flew out and struck the other’s neck. His movement was too fast for Xu Luo to react in time and he only saw Xiang Yunfei’s neck being squeezed and pressed against the counter.
Startled, Xu Luo exclaimed, “Qinghuai, don’t be impulsive!”
Xiang Yunfei trembled with his back against the counter. Without waiting for Ji Qinghuai to say anything else, he instantly admitted his mistake and begged for mercy.
“Young Master Ji, I was in the wrong. I didn’t mean to sell you fake medicine, I only wanted you to have diarrhoea for two days. I didn’t mean to hurt you. Please forgive me this time. I won’t do it again…”
Xu Luo finally understood.
It seemed that the problem indeed lay within the medicine. Ji Qinghuai’s situation was much easier to handle now.
Ji Qinghuai stared at Xiang Yunfei with a deadly gaze. With only a slight exertion of his hand, he could wring his neck.
Xu Luo was horrified and hurriedly asked Xiang Yunfei, “Was there any cold element in the medicine you gave to Young Master Ji last time?”
Xiang Yunfei grasped Ji Qinghuai’s wrist, trying to loosen his grip. His breathing became difficult as he coughed out, “Cold …sky grass…”
Cold sky grass. A medicinal herb with extremely cold properties.
Xu Luo frowned and persuaded Ji Qinghuai, “You let go first, it’s not too late to vent your anger after asking.”
Ji Qinghuai had no choice but to co-operate.
When he let go of Xiang Yunfei, Xu Luo questioned, “Is there anything else?”
“No… Nothing…” Xiang Yunfei’s face was red, but he still tried his best to answer Xu Luo’s question, knowing that Xu Luo was the only one who could save him.
Ji Qinghuai’s eyes darkened.
He wanted to…break this man’s neck…
Xiang Yunfei desperately clawed at Ji Qinghuai’s hand, struggling with a hoarse voice, “Big boss…let me…live…”
Hearing the word “boss”, Ji Qinghuai suddenly came back to his senses and immediately let go of Xiang Yunfei. Xiang Yunfei’s legs softened and he fell to the ground coughing.
Ji Qinghuai’s eyes were full of shock and he didn’t react for a long time.
He…He almost killed someone just now.
On the other hand, Xu Luo was relieved.
Ji Qinghuai’s appearance just now was too scary, but fortunately, nothing happened, otherwise it would be troublesome.
Ji Qinghuai slowly eased the horror in his heart, and said coldly to Xiang Yunfei, “For the sake of Qin Lang, I’ll spare you today. If I find out that you’re selling fake medicine again, I won’t let you off.”
Xiang Yunfei’s soul was terrified and he hurriedly promised, “Don’t dare to, I dare not again…”
Ji Qinghuai didn’t want to stay here any longer and left the clinic without saying a word.
Xiang Yunfei, upon realising that he had escaped from the gates of hell, began to cry with joy.
When Xu Luo saw this, he bent down to help Xiang Yunfei and pulled him up from the ground. Xiang Yunfei wiped his tears, “Thank you.”
“You’re welcome.” Xu Luo took out his ID and smiled, “Xu Luo from the Food and Drug Administration, please come with me.”
Xiang Yunfei: “…”
Ji Qinghuai walked aimlessly away from the clinic before stopping. The autumn wind blew across his face, making him feel soberer.
Recalling the scene just now, Ji Qinghuai still had some lingering fears. He didn’t know why he felt so frustrated earlier but he clearly remembered how the feeling had intensified all of a sudden.
This kind of emotion was chilling, manoeuvring him to destroy whatever was in front of him to achieve a certain pleasure.
This kind of feeling was too terrible.
If that little demon hadn’t grabbed a life-saving straw in time and brought up the word “boss”, Ji Qinghuai might have really broken Xiang Yunfei’s neck in that instant.
“Boss” was the name given to him by the demons in the East District under Qin Lang’s jurisdiction.
You can’t cause trouble in Qin Lang’s jurisdiction. It was a rule he had kept to silently. He didn’t want to cause trouble for Qin Lang or embarrass him.
It was because of this that he was able to return to his senses in time, preventing a death on his hands.
After the initial shock, Ji Qinghuai’s mood gradually calmed down and the frustration that had been growing in him disappeared as well. He recalled that Xu Luo was still in the clinic and realised that it was a bit rude for him to leave without a word.
Ji Qinghuai took out his cell phone from his pocket, preparing to call Xu Luo. He inadvertently looked up and saw a familiar figure.
Xie Yan.
He hadn’t seen Xie Yan for two months but he didn’t expect to meet him here. Ji Qinghuai was both surprised and delighted at the same time. He hung the phone and walked straight to Xie Yan. T/N: This is the second time he dropped someone after seeing Xie Yan LOL
“Hi, Mr Xie, what a coincidence.” Ji Qinghuai’s eyebrows were all smiles as he enthusiastically greeted the other.
Xie Yan turned to look at Ji Qinghuai, his eyes indifferent and alienated behind the lens.
Xie Yan greeted him coldly, “Young Master Ji.”
Ji Qinghuai was taken aback and the smile on his face slowly faded. Xie Yan, this… What happened?
They chatted on WeChat last night but how did he become so estranged overnight?
Ji Qinghuai wanted to ask him but Xie Yan spoke first, “Young Master Ji, I have something important to do so I’ll leave first.”
Ji Qinghuai swallowed back his words back and replied, “Okay.”
Xie Yan turned around and got into a car on the side of the road. His figure slowly disappeared from Ji Qinghuai’s sight. He watched the car drive away while being very concerned about Xie Yan’s attitude today.
They were getting along well yesterday, did he say something wrong?
He was determined to go back and find out what happened but he put aside the matter for now and called Xu Luo.
Later as evening settled in, the lights in the neighbourhood turned on one by one. Xie Yan looked at an electronic invitation on the computer screen, moved the mouse and closed the page.
Xie Yan picked up his phone and the screen lit up, showing the time; 18:01. However, there was no new message notification on the screen. When Xie Yan opened WeChat, no unread messages popped out and the message list was extremely quiet.
Xie Yan put down the phone and leaned back in his chair. Ji Qinghuai didn’t send him a message today.
Xie Yan reasoned with himself, Ji Qinghuai only returned from the film set yesterday. He probably wanted to take a good rest.
It’s just that…
The phone was so quiet today, he felt a little uncomfortable…
