The origin of the cold poison in Ji Qinghuai’s body had been found and was an event worth celebrating. They would be now able to prescribe the appropriate medicine soon so there was no longer any worry about the poison relapsing in the future.
Ji Qinghuai ought to be relieved but he wasn’t as happy as he should be. It wasn’t because of the cold poison, but because of Xie Yan.
Xie Yan’s attitude towards him was so cold today, it resembled the time they had first met. He lay on the bed and scrolled through yesterday’s chat history with Xie Yan several times to make sure that he hadn’t said anything that angered him.
What happened to Xie Yan today?
Ji Qinghuai couldn’t figure it out no matter how much he tried. He typed out a message in the chatbox and sent it out.
The most handsome actor in history: Mr Xie.
Xie Yan was in the bathroom washing up and his mobile phone was not with him so it took a while to return Ji Qinghuai’s message.
Xie Yan: En.
Ji Qinghuai hesitated.
The most handsome actor in history: Have you finished your work?
In the afternoon, Xie Yan said that he had something to do and left first. Ji Qinghuai was afraid to disturb him if he was still busy so he had to ask first.
Xie Yan: It’s completed.
Ji Qinghuai stared at the screen for a while, thinking about how to ask Xie Yan what happened today. Like squeezing out toothpaste, he finally typed out a sentence. Just then, his phone vibrated with a new message from Xie Yan.
Xie Yan: Did you have any work scheduled for the last two days?
Ji Qinghuai deleted the words he had written and typed out another answer.
The most handsome actor in history: No, I have no work arranged for the time being.
The most handsome actor in history: I’m tired after filming for more than two months, I’m going to rest for a while.
Xie Yan: That’s a good idea.
Xie Yan: You said you wanted to eat the food I make, do you still want to eat it?
Seeing this message, Ji Qinghuai was slightly stunned.
He had said that two months ago. After so long, he still remembered it!
What he didn’t know was that Xie Yan not only remembered it but also remembered it very well. It was precisely because Ji Qinghuai had mentioned it that Xie Yan took the initiative to ask, lest Ji Qinghuai was too embarrassed to ask again.
After this, Ji Qinghuai’s worries gradually disappeared.
It was quite normal to invite someone to their house for a meal so if Xie Yan was angry, why would he invite him?
He was probably too much in a hurry that morning and thought too much.
The most handsome actor in history: Eat!
Xie Yan chuckled in front of the screen.
Xie Yan: When do you want to eat?
Ji Qinghuai thought for a while.
The most handsome actor in history: Is tomorrow noon alright?
It didn’t matter whether he ate or not. The main reason was that he wanted to see Xie Yan. Although they met today, Xie Yan had left in a hurry and his thinking had derailed, almost causing a misunderstanding. Now, he wanted to spend some time with Xie Yan.
Xie Yan: Okay.
A single word was enough to make Ji Qinghuai happy for half a day. Xie Yan wasn’t mad at him and he even remembered what he had said a long time ago. On top of that, the root cause of his cold poison had also been figured out.
How great!
So when Qin Lang came back from his bath, he saw Ji Qinghuai gleefully hugging his pillow and rolling around on the bed. Qin Lang raised his eyebrow when he saw the euphoric Ji Qinghuai. “Off the order?”
Ji Qinghuai blinked and looked at him sideways, “I can’t bear to take off the order, I’m afraid that you’ll be too lonely.”
Saying that, Ji Qinghuai put his hand on his chest and sighed, “I’m so kind, you should cherish it, little cutie. After all, it’s hard to find such a good brother.”
“Point your face.” Qin Lang wanted to roll his eyes.
Even if he didn’t catch someone, he could still boast about it, really worthy of being called his brother. But what’s the point of boasting about it? He was still a single dog in the end.
Oh no, his brother is a cat.
Qin Lang was too lazy to bicker with Ji Qinghuai and couldn’t fight against him. In the end, he would be the one getting annoyed so he chose to sleep.
He spread the quilt and lay down while Ji Qinghuai turned off the light. When the light was switched off, Ji Qinghuai opened Qin Lang’s quilt and got in.
Qin Lang grabbed the quilt, “What are you doing?”
Ji Qinghuai felt that Qin Lang was asking a redundant question and replied, “Sleeping.”
“…Use your own quilt.”
“I didn’t bring mine.”
Qin Lang repeated, “…Let go.”
Ji Qinghuai refused, “I won’t.”
Qin Lang clutched the quilt tightly, “Go back to your room to sleep.”
“I don’t care, I’m going to sleep with you.”
After that, he got directly into the bed.
Qin Lang: “…”
He felt helpless and couldn’t do anything so he had no choice but to let Ji Qinghuai sleep with him As a result, Ji Qinghuai kicked the quilt several times that night and even kicked the blanket off Qin Lang. Although Qin Lang was mentally prepared, getting up to replace the quilt several times in the middle of the night was driving him mad.
The perpetrator, Ji Qinghuai, had an exceptionally good sleep that night and the next morning, he got up early to eat breakfast.
Yesterday, he hurriedly ate a steamed bun as he went out, and felt that it tasted quite delicious so he asked his mother to steam some more for breakfast.
He got up early today just for steamed buns.
The stuffed buns weren’t that big and he could finish one in three bites. He ate several in one breath and paired it with a bowl of moderately concentrated millet porridge, making for a satisfying and filling breakfast.
He took out a tissue to wipe his mouth and said to Qin Xiaorou, “Mom, I’m not eating lunch at home later.”
Qin Xiaorou asked casually, “You’re going out?”
“En.” Ji Qinghuai paused and continued, “I made an appointment with a friend so I’m going to his house for lunch at noon.”
Hearing this, Qin Lang showed a deep smile, “People are inviting you to eat at their homes, so you should exchange courtesy and invite them to our home as well.”
Ji Qinghuai was aware of Qin Lang’s intentions. He just wanted to know who he liked.
I won’t tell you.
“Xiao Lang is right.” Qin Xiaorou answered, “Qingqing, when your friend has time, he should come over to our house for a meal.”
Ji Qinghuai replied in his heart that he wanted to but Xie Yan wouldn’t necessarily come, he can’t force others now, can he?
He immediately became forlorn.
Qin Xiaorou thought for a moment and then asked, “Is your friend a boy or a girl? Is today a special day? Do you want mom to help you prepare some gifts?”
This reminded Ji Qinghuai that he still didn’t know when Xie Yan’s birthday was. He should find an opportunity to ask.
“No, it’s just a casual meal.” Ji Qinghuai thought about it a little and asked, “Mom, do we have tea at home? I want to take some.”
Xie Yan didn’t drink nor smoke but he usually drank tea, so he could only bring some as a gift.
“We have some,” Qin Xiaorou nodded. “I’ll pack some for you.”
“Okay.”
After the family finished breakfast, it was still quite early. Although Ji Qinghuai wanted to see Xie Yan earlier, it wasn’t polite to go too early, so he could only sit on the sofa and play with his mobile phone.
After Qin Lang tidied up the dining table and kitchen, he also sat down on the sofa and took out the tablet to watch a TV series. Ji Qinghuai leaned over to see that Qin Lang was watching an ancient drama.
“Huh?” Ji Qinghuai looked at the person on the screen, “I know this kid.”
The actor on the screen appeared to be in his early twenties. He was white and very handsome with good-looking brows. He gave off a sense of cuteness, making people feel comfortable and willing to get close to him.
This look was the type that Qin Lang preferred.
Qin Lang asked, “Have you worked with him before?”
“He made a cameo appearance in one of my films,” replied Ji Qinghuai. “I had a pretty good impression of this kid and I heard that he’s been developing steadily.”
Ji Qinghuai thought for a while, “I remember his name is…”
Qin Lang completed his sentence, “Ye An. ”
“Ah right.” Ji Qinghuai also remembered, “It’s Ye An.”
Ji Qinghuai said, “He’s a good talent. If you’re short of actors in the future, you can hire him and won’t be disappointed.”
This was only a casual remark and Qin Lang didn’t pay too much attention to it also and continued to watch his TV series.
At about half-past nine, when Qin Lang was going back to the city to work, Ji Qinghuai caught a ride with him. The car drove from the suburbs into the city, past Qin Lang’s neighbourhood, and finally stopped at the gate of Dixin Community.
Qin Lang glanced into the community. He remembered that Xie Yan also lived in this community.
Ji Qinghuai unfastened his seat belt and waved to Qin Lang, “Goodbye.”
He pushed the door open and got out of the car.
Qin Lang couldn’t think of Ji Qinghuai and Xie Yan together so he didn’t think too much about it. He stepped on the accelerator and drove away.
Chinese is such a difficult language to learn, like I’m not even joking. Usually, if you watch like japanese anime or K-dramas, you can recognise some words after some time but I’ve been watching donghua (chinese anime) for over a year and struggle so hard to recognise some words despite taking a beginner’s course in mandarin. Yet, I watched a korean variety show for a few weeks and I can already recognise some words. Unreal.
