Chapter 36 of 70

Ch34 - Answer

8 min read2,124 words

Excluding the previous temporary stay and the two accidents, this was the first time Ji Qinghuai was officially visiting Xie Yan’s house, so he couldn’t go empty-handed.

Ji Qinghuai knew the location of Xie Yan’s house very well so he didn’t worry about not being able to find it. After entering the residential area, he turned to the lobby of Xie Yan’s building and took the elevator upstairs.

With the door of Xie Yan’s house wide open, he couldn’t even knock on the door. He consciously took out the slippers from the shoe cabinet and put them on. Xie Yan came out of the kitchen with a teapot and just happened to see Ji Qinghuai entering the door wearing slippers.

Xie Yan chuckled, “Welcome.”

Ji Qinghuai closed the door and put aside the gift bag in his hand, “I brought some tea for you, try it and tell me what you think. If you like it, I’ll send some more next time.”

“Thanks a lot.” Xie Yan responded politely. He took the teapot and walked to the table while Ji Qinghuai followed. There were already two cups placed on the table with tea leaves lying inside.

He tilted the kettle and hot water poured out of it and into the cup, raising a burst of hot steam. As the tea brewed, the leaves at the bottom of the cup rose to the surface and the rich tea fragrance gradually diffused into the air.

The tea was brewed for seven minutes, no more, no less and the right amount of water was poured into the cups. One of them was pushed in front of Ji Qinghuai.

“Thank you, Mr Xie.” Ji Qinghuai thanked him but didn’t rush to drink it. The hot water looked like it had just been boiled and he wanted to wait until it had cooled down to drink.

Xie Yan glanced at the time, it was almost ten-thirty, just the right time to start cooking lunch.

Last night, the two had made an appointment to have lunch today, so Xie Yan had started making preparations early in the morning. Ji Qinghuai had nothing to do and was quite idle, so he took the initiative to go to the kitchen to help Xie Yan.

Since Ji Qinghuai had offered to help, it was hard for Xie Yan to refuse. The memory of Ji Qinghuai cutting potatoes the wrong way was still fresh and he had been staying in the film crew for quite some time so it was unlikely that he had time to improve his skills.

Fortunately, Ji Qinghuai didn’t take the initiative to cut vegetables and instead stood aside obediently, waiting for Xie Yan to arrange tasks for him. Xie Yan fried the shredded pork with green pepper in the pot, and said to Ji Qinghuai, “Plate.”

Ji Qinghuai didn’t ask where the plates were placed but directly opened the cabinet and took one out. He also poured boiling water over it according to Xie Yan’s habit.

Xie Yan continued asking Ji Qinghuai to fetch a few things for him. During the process, no matter what he wanted, Ji Qinghuai could always find them exactly where they were placed. His familiarity gave Xie Yan the illusion that he was in Ji Qinghuai’s kitchen instead.

Xie Yan felt a little helpless.

Exposing himself like this and not even realising, this IQ was a bit worrying.

Ji Qinghuai was not completely unaware. He did this because he didn’t want to always hide in front of Xie Yan. When he was free these days, he thought it over carefully and felt that Xie Yan had already guessed his identity, otherwise his attitude wouldn’t have changed so quickly.

Xie Yan was very cold, and his appearance was very sudden but he still wanted to approach Xie Yan. When encountering such a person, most people will have two thoughts.

One, this person is sick. Second, this person has an ulterior motive

What would Xie Yan think of him? It can only be the second one, which also explained why Xie Yan was so indifferent to him at first.

After that, Xie Yan went to the crew to visit him and his attitude towards him had changed significantly compared to the previous encounter. He even pretended to be unwell so that he could sleep with Xie Yan and Xie Yan had even agreed. He also helped him buy the fruit he liked.

How would Xie Yan know that he liked grapes and cherries? Because the cat he raised also liked them. Why would he also ask Su Yu about his original form? Because of these clues, Xie Yan could determine his identity.

It’s too late to remedy the situation, so what’s the point of pretending?

As for when this layer of window paper can be pierced, it depends on Heaven’s will.

As the two were absorbed in their thoughts, a sumptuous lunch was brought to the table. Xie Yan poured out a bowl of rib soup and placed it in front of Ji Qinghuai.

When Ji Qinghuai returned from filming, he noticed that he was a little thinner than before. It was strenuous to film under the heat and he had to eat more to regain the weight he lost.

Ji Qinghuai was not polite and took a spoonful of soup, tasting it. He immediately praised the dish and said, “It’s delicious.”

Xie Yan also served himself a bowl. Ji Qinghuai took a piece of ribs and opened his mouth, “Mr Xie, I have good news for you.”

Xie Yan looked up at him.

Ji Qinghuai continued, “I found the cause of the cold poison.”

He clamped a piece of beef brisket, relishing the soft and delicious meat. He swallowed the beef and then continued, “Yesterday, I went to Luyun Street with Dr Xu to find the clinic where I bought the medicine. The owner personally admitted that there was a problem with the medicine he sold me that time so he was taken away by Doctor Xu. He probably has to pay a huge fine.”

Xie Yan sipped the soup unhurriedly and listened to Ji Qinghuai’s words before commenting, “He should be punished.”

He answered Ji Qinghuai simply but felt relieved for him in his heart. He had seen the dangers of the cold poison twice with his own eyes and knew how powerful it was. Now that he knew the cause of it, it was easy to detoxify Ji Qinghuai.

This was indeed good news.

“I also think he should be punished.”

The beef brisket with potato fit Ji Qinghuai’s tastes perfectly and he reached out for another piece.

As he ate, Ji Qinghuai remembered what happened with Xie Yan yesterday and questioned, “Mr Xie, are you busy these days?”

“En.” Xie Yan didn’t mind why Ji Qinghuai asked and replied, “I finally had some free time today.”

Ji Qinghuai didn’t ask what Xie Yan was up to. After all, it was someone else’s private business and it was impolite to ask too many questions. He had already asked what he wanted to ask so there was no need to push the topic.

Xie Yan was too busy to care about him yesterday, it was only a small misunderstanding.

Ji Qinghuai was in a good mood and he couldn’t resist another half bowl of rice.

After eating and drinking, Ji Qinghuai was not idle either, helping Xie Yan tidy the table and kitchen together. Although he couldn’t cook, he would still do trivial things like cleaning the table and replacing the trash.

The two worked together to clean the kitchen and after they were done, they sat on the couch together to eat. (Probably fruits) Ji Qinghuai took a sip of hot tea and suddenly asked Xie Yan, “Mr Xie, have you always lived alone?”

It seemed that every time he came, Xie Yan was at home alone.

“En.” Xie Yan said, “I’ve lived alone for many years.”

“Don’t you return home?”

Ji Qinghuai was casually asking. He and Qin Lang were like this. They both bought houses outside and stayed there but they would return home when they were free.

Xie Yan didn’t speak. Ji Qinghuai’s heart thumped, wondering if he asked the wrong question.

Just as he was getting uneasy, thinking about whether to apologize or not, Xie Yan opened his mouth and spoke seriously, “I was a light bulb for many years and got kicked out.”

Ji Qinghuai: “…”

This explanation really exceeded his expectations.

Ji Qinghuai didn’t know if he should cry or laugh. “Were you picked up somewhere by chance?”

It was originally a joke, but Xie Yan replied, “Almost.”

Ji Qinghuai was stunned.

Xie Yan said, “My parents left too early, I can’t remember what they look like. I was raised by my master instead.”

“Your master?” Ji Qinghuai was a little curious, “Which senior is your master?”

“My master…”

Ji Qinghuai didn’t know what Xie Yan thought of but he smiled at Ji Qinghuai, “I’m afraid I’ll scare you away if I say it.”

Ji Qinghuai tilted his head slightly, looking at Xie Yan with big shiny eyes.

Xie Yan was joking with him?

Ji Qinghuai was even more curious about the master who brought him up, “I’m a recognized demon tyrant who has seen the world. Tell me and see if it can surprise me.”

Xie Yan didn’t speak anymore.

Regarding that person, he didn’t want to mention too much to Ji Qinghuai and it was unnecessary.

Ji Qinghuai was observing Xie Yan reaction and seeing that he stopped speaking, he understood that the other didn’t want to talk about it so he quickly changed the topic.

“Wouldn’t it be boring by yourself all day?”

Xie Yan picked up the teacup on the table, “It’s okay.”

After talking, he took a sip of tea.

Ji Qinghuai looked at Xie Yan intently. He tried to take the first step and asked, “Have you ever thought of finding someone to live with?”

After asking this, Ji Qinghuai held his breath and waited for Xie Yan to answer.

Xie Yan raised his eyes. The look on his face was the same as before, silently looking at Ji Qinghuai. Ji Qinghuai became more nervous, staring at the unwavering beautiful eyes through the lens.

This was a psychological warfare. After a moment, Ji Qinghuai got nervous and staggered his line of sight, adding, “Or you can raise a small animal. The house is quiet all day, it’s not interesting.”

Xie Yan felt that Ji Qinghuai’s words were interesting, “I’ve raised one before.”

Xie Yan recalled the past and with a good mood, “Three months ago, I found a small wild cat downstairs. After raising it for half a month, the little guy ran away.”

After that, he added, “It has no conscience.”

Ji Qinghuai: “…”

After he was criticised in front of Xie Yan, a sense of guilt rose in Ji Qinghuai.

Ji Qinghuai continued to test Xie Yan, “Then, do you like cats?”

After he asked this, Xie Yan was a little unsure.

He didn’t care about whether he liked them or not. He raised the little wild cat because he felt that it was predestined. In addition, the cat was not afraid of him, which was a first. Later, he took such good care of it, treating it like a family member. To entertain the little one, he even gave out his silver bell from his collection.

Xie Yan put down the teacup, looked up and met Ji Qinghuai again.

The answer to this question should be…

“I like them.”

Ji Qinghuai’s eyes lit up, “Then what kind of cat do you like?”

Xie Yan saw Ji Qinghuai’s expectant look and couldn’t help but want to tease him, “I like black cats.”

Ji Qinghuai himself liked black cats, but Xie Yan’s answer made him a little unhappy, “I like silver gradient cats.”

Xie Yan really didn’t believe that this was a coincidence.

“Too temperamental.”

Ji Qinghuai: “…”

He argued, “But it looks very pleasing to the eyes.”

Xie Yan didn’t deny his words, “There is no conflict between the two kinds.”

Ji Qinghuai: “…”

Ji Qinghuai pouted his lips and thought aggrievedly; Okay, if I’m petulant, I’m petulant but I’ll change it.

Seeing Ji Qinghuai’s various reactions, Xie Yan could not help but smile.

Stupid cat.

Hi, I just found out the author posted 3 extras BYEEEEEE. There will probably be more because the three chapters are labelled as ‘Extra 1 (1)’ so each chapter is part of the extra and I’m not sure how many more there will be. Anyways, I won’t update the total number of chapters on CG and NU until the author has completed them.
