28 Yang Chen's remarkable performance won the attention of all the employees at Yu Lei International headquarters. Many female employees began to talk about this new probationary male colleague as a topic of conversation during their breaks. Even before he officially started work, Yang Chen was known to the majority of people.

After signing the probationary contract on the spot, Yang Chen was led by Mo Qianyi into the Public Relations Department, located on the 18th floor of Yu Lei International, where the entire floor was the domain of the PR department.

As soon as they entered the office area, many people stood up and clapped to welcome Yang Chen's arrival. Since the majority of the employees were female, the addition of a new male colleague made the female staff quite happy.

Mo Qianyi asked Yang Chen to give a brief introduction and then led him into her office.

Apart from a few carefully tended orchids, the office was sparsely decorated. The neat desk and various charts and schedules on the wall indicated that the owner of this office had excellent work ethics and efficiency.

Yang Chen was quite impressed with his new boss. Although the woman was beautiful, she exuded more confidence and wisdom, which made it hard for anyone to have any disrespectful thoughts. It was clear that her young age and high position in a listed company were not just due to her looks.

"Please sit down. Would you like something to drink?" Mo Qianyi smiled gently.

"No, thank you. I'm not thirsty," Yang Chen shook his head.

Mo Qianyi smiled and shook her head at him, still going to the water dispenser to make him a cup of water. "I asked if you wanted something to drink not to quench your thirst, but to have a good talk with you. By saying you're not thirsty, aren't you refusing to have a serious conversation with me? In the future, you will be a part of our company's PR department, and you shouldn't misunderstand such simple hints."

Yang Chen was a bit troubled. He had just joined the company and was already being intimidated by his boss. He smiled helplessly, "Miss Mo, I'm a rough person. Running errands is fine, but I really don't know much about business talks."

"I don't believe a man who is fluent in Italian and German and can instantly identify the work of an Italian master craftsman is a so-called rough person," Mo Qianyi said, her bright and beautiful eyes looking straight at Yang Chen. She leaned against her desk, her posture graceful.

"Um..." Yang Chen was at a loss to refute Mo Qianyi's sharp words and could only spread his hands, "Miss Mo, whether you believe it or not, I'm just here to find a job. In fact, I don't even know much about public relations. Of course, now that I've signed the contract, I will do my best. I'm just being honest."

Mo Qianyi, seeing that Yang Chen's expression was not feigned, changed the topic. "I just looked at your resume. You provided very little information, only a master's degree in marketing management from Harvard University. However, since you are the only candidate with a master's degree from an Ivy League university, you were nominated for the final evaluation. It seems we didn't make a mistake. At least you have excellent skills in foreign languages and fashion."

"Luck, just luck..." Listening to his beautiful boss's rapid-fire speech, Yang Chen, who wouldn't even flinch under a hail of bullets, suddenly felt a bit guilty.

Mo Qianyi seemed dissatisfied with Yang Chen's superficial response. She sat down at her desk, silent for a moment, and then asked, "Yang Chen, since you say you don't understand PR work, why did you apply?"

"Be honest?"

"Do you think I want to hear lies?"

"I think you might prefer lies. The truth might be too much for you to handle," Yang Chen said, a bit embarrassed.

"I want the truth. I want to hear the truth," Mo Qianyi said, a bit angry. This new employee showed no respect for his boss.

Yang Chen took a deep breath, "Alright, the main reason I applied is that my wife wants me to find a more decent office job."

"Your wife wants you to find a decent job?" Mo Qianyi felt dizzy, frowning, "What did you do before?"

"Um... I sold lamb skewers at the West District market. I don't know if you've seen me, but I've been there for almost half a year," Yang Chen said with a simple smile.

Mo Qianyi felt like she was going crazy. A lamb skewer vendor!? The only qualified candidate selected from a large group of elites is a lamb skewer vendor!?

"I don't think this is a good joke, Yang Chen. I hope you're not fooling me. That would only be fooling yourself," Mo Qianyi said, trying to remain calm.

Yang Chen was puzzled. How was this fooling her? He said seriously, "Miss Mo, you can look down on my job, but you can't look down on my character. Even though I'm just a lamb skewer vendor, I have no reason to joke about my job. I sell lamb, and I'm proud of it!"

Mo Qianyi's beautiful face turned pale, and she gritted her teeth, "You're still fooling me! A Harvard University master's graduate, fluent in more than two foreign languages, and able to identify Italian craftsmanship, is a lamb skewer vendor!? What about the other candidates and people in society? Are they all vegetable vendors!?"

Unexpectedly, after her outburst, Yang Chen really started to think seriously. After a moment of deep thought, he replied, "Miss Mo, I don't know if they've sold vegetables, but you can ask them."

"You... you..." Mo Qianyi felt dizzy. What kind of brain did this guy have? Was he even human!?

Seeing his new boss's face flush and her ample chest rise and fall, Yang Chen knew he had caused trouble. He hadn't even started work and had already upset his boss. But he really didn't know what to do. He couldn't lie, and telling the truth made her angry. He could only tough it out and remain silent.

Mo Qianyi, a formidable woman, quickly regained her composure, though her look at Yang Chen was no longer as friendly. She clearly saw him as a rich kid looking for amusement. She said coldly, "Alright, I won't talk to you anymore. Your office is in the third row, far right. It's already been cleared for you. Someone will give you your tasks. You can leave now."

"Okay, thank you, Miss Mo. I'll go then." Yang Chen felt relieved. Just as he stood up, he remembered something and turned back to finish the cup of water on the desk in one gulp, then wiped his mouth with his sleeve and walked out of the office.

Seeing this, Mo Qianyi's frown deepened. She didn't want to look at Yang Chen anymore, but she remembered the signed contract. If she wanted to terminate it early, she would have to pay a large penalty, and such a decision needed the president's approval. Even during the probationary period, he was still a headquarters employee, not on the same level as branch employees.

After some thought, Mo Qianyi dialed a phone number...

"Hello." The woman's voice on the other end was clear and gentle.

Mo Qianyi hesitated for a moment and then said, "President, I want to fire the new male PR probationary employee. He has serious attitude, integrity, and capability issues. There are many reasons, and I hope to get your approval."

The woman called President was silent for a moment and then said, "You are always very cautious. Since you signed the contract, why do you want to renege now? Send me his file, and I'll make a decision after reviewing it."

"Okay, President." Mo Qianyi hung up the phone, sighed helplessly, and then opened the file and sent Yang Chen's information to the president's office via the company's internal network.
