When the police appeared, the surrounding crowd had already gathered, whispering about whether Yang Chen was about to be in trouble.

"Hmm... It’s me," Yang Chen raised his head in doubt, not understanding why the police would be looking for him. Could it be that the authorities back home had found him? No, that didn’t make sense. If that were the case, they would have sent a secret special forces unit to conduct a surprise night raid, not three small-town police officers.

The police officer showed his credentials and said coldly, "I am Captain Feng Biao from the West District Police Station. Someone has reported you for allegedly assaulting and murdering a teenager. We are taking you to the police station for questioning immediately!"

So that’s what it was... Yang Chen suddenly understood. It seemed that the beaten Chen Feng had come up with a devious plan, actually getting the police involved!

Old Li, who was standing nearby, hurriedly stepped forward to explain, "Comrades, you’ve got the wrong person! Chen Feng and a few others were extorting protection money from Yang Chen. He was just defending himself!"

"Hmph, we will investigate whether we have the right person! All I saw was Chen Feng’s son being beaten until he spat blood, and I didn’t see this guy suffer any injuries!" Feng Biao said, ignoring Old Li and waving for the two police officers to handcuff Yang Chen.

Yang Chen didn’t resist. After being handcuffed, he sighed slightly and said to Old Li, "Don’t worry, I haven’t done anything wrong, it’s no big deal. Take care of my lamb skewer stall for me. If I’m not back by nightfall, push it back home for me."

"Shut up and move!" Feng Biao barked.

Old Li wanted to say more but knew he couldn’t help, so he could only watch helplessly as Yang Chen was taken away by the police.

After Feng Biao and his men left with Yang Chen, the surrounding citizens and vendors began to curse, mostly about the police and the gang bosses being "in cahoots" and "one and the same." However, they wouldn’t dare say such things in front of the police.

Yang Chen was brought into the police station and immediately taken to the interrogation room. In this extremely serious room, Yang Chen looked around curiously. To be honest, he had been to the police station many times before, but this was the first time he was there as a suspect.

After Captain Feng Biao called in two muscular police officers, he sneered a few times, "You look so relaxed, even taking the time to look around this room. We’ll see if you still feel the same way when I come back." He then slammed the iron door and left.

Yang Chen sat down nonchalantly, looking calmly at the two police officers who were now seated in front of him, staring at him like predators eyeing their prey.

A bearded police officer began the questioning, "Name?"

"Yang Chen."

"Gender."

"Male..." Yang Chen answered cooperatively, with a smile.

"Age?"

"24."

"Place of origin?"

"Zhonghai."

...

After a series of simple and tedious questions, Yang Chen remained calm and answered slowly, even answering the most ridiculous questions with a smile. The two police officers, on the other hand, became increasingly frustrated. After all, they had been instructed by Feng Biao to find a reason to rough up Yang Chen. Now that Yang Chen was being so cooperative, it was hard to find a reason to make him suffer.

Finally, the other dark-skinned police officer came up with a plan and asked, "Did you beat up six teenagers at the market today?"

"The situation wasn’t that I beat them up. They were trying to extort protection money from me. They were the ones who started it, and I have the right to defend myself," Yang Chen replied.

"I don’t know if they extorted money from you, but you were the one who started the fight, right?" the bearded police officer asked with a sinister smile.

"Yes..." Yang Chen nodded honestly, "But I don’t think the fault lies with me. If it comes to it, I can take them to court."

"Taking them to court... a lamb skewer vendor..." the dark-skinned police officer muttered disdainfully, then took out a document and pointed to the signature line, "Sign your name here, admitting your guilt and agreeing to compensate the victims."

Yang Chen glanced at the document, which was a pre-prepared confession with enough charges to land him in jail for half his life! His expression turned wry, and he coldly laughed, "Officer, I don’t think this document is legal... I haven’t even said anything, and suddenly there are so many charges against me."

The dark-skinned police officer slammed his hand on the table, "You’re questioning us now, accusing us of framing you! Do you know where you are!?"

"I’m just telling the truth," Yang Chen thought to himself. These two were determined to make him a criminal. A chill ran through his eyes.

The two police officers knew Yang Chen wouldn’t sign the document. No normal person who could read would willingly spend half their life in jail. The only reason for using this document was to provoke Yang Chen! Clearly, they had succeeded.

"Kid, you’re not cooperating with our investigation. Do you know what the consequences will be!?" The bearded police officer stood up and slowly walked behind Yang Chen, clenching his fists until his knuckles cracked.

Yang Chen glanced at the surveillance camera in the room. He estimated that the footage would only show him arguing with the police, and no one outside would know what happened next. Even if they did, who would easily spread the news about what happened in the police station?

It seems that corrupt police officers exist everywhere in the world...

"I don’t know what the consequences will be for me, but you two will face consequences you never imagined..." Yang Chen casually turned his head and smiled at the bearded police officer.

"You’re asking for it!"

Seeing Yang Chen finally say something that could be considered an insult to the police, the bearded officer lunged to grab Yang Chen’s collar, his other hand ready to punch!

But in that instant, the bearded officer’s hand grabbed nothing but air. Yang Chen had already stood up from his seat and grabbed the bearded officer’s collar instead!

"Is this what you wanted to do..." Yang Chen smiled wickedly and landed a hook punch on the bearded officer’s stomach!

The bearded officer convulsed and curled up on the ground. The dark-skinned police officer stood up in a rage, "You dared to assault a police officer!" He didn’t hesitate to draw his gun and aim it at Yang Chen!

But Yang Chen paid no attention to the gun’s black muzzle. In a flash, he moved behind the dark-skinned officer, lightly tapping his arm. The arm twitched as if electrocuted, and the 54 pistol fell to the ground!

The dark-skinned officer didn’t even have time to react before he felt a tingling in his neck and then passed out...

Yang Chen picked up the illegal document from the table and smiled slyly, "This seems to be a common trick for you. I wonder what would happen if it were leaked."
