o7 When Yang Chen said he was going to make the evidence public, the relatively清醒的大胡子警察顿时冷汗直冒。
"You... You dare! Do you know who you're offending? That's Old Chen's son! Old Chen's people can wipe out your entire family for generations!" The big-bearded man roared, but the intense pain in his body made it impossible for him to stand up!
Yang Chen's face immediately turned cold, "Old Chen again... You people are really failures, none of you know that I hate being threatened the most..." After saying that, he rushed forward and kicked the big-bearded man again. This kick directly knocked the big-bearded man unconscious!
"Bang!"
Suddenly, the iron door of the interrogation room was pushed open, and a figure quickly rushed in!
"Stop!"
A clear and stern voice rang in his ears. Yang Chen turned around in doubt and was pleasantly surprised to see the newcomer.
This was a spirited and short-haired female police officer, with almond-shaped eyes like a clear autumn pond, a high nose, and red lips. At first glance, she looked like a perfectly plasticized Korean or Japanese celebrity, but upon closer inspection, one could feel the indomitable spirit in her bones, making her several times more beautiful than those so-called celebrities. She was undoubtedly a strikingly beautiful police officer.
But Yang Chen immediately noticed that on the female officer's shoulder, there were two four-pointed stars, which was already the symbol of a Deputy Inspector General.
In an instant, Yang Chen realized that this young and beautiful woman, who looked like a movie star, was actually the Chief of the West District Police Station, a solidly ranked official in China!
At this moment, Cai Yan was in a very bad mood. She had just finished a meeting, worrying about the recent bank robbery in the West District, when she heard a report that a suspect was beating a police officer in her police station's interrogation room. This was an outright challenge to her authority!
"You! Put your hands behind your head and stand against the wall!" Cai Yan pointed at Yang Chen and shouted sternly.
Yang Chen looked her up and down, inwardly marveling at how uniforms were indeed a good thing, no wonder so many people around him in the past would make their partners wear various uniforms before doing things... Hearing the female chief's order, he smiled ambiguously, "Beautiful Chief, I think you should look at this first." Saying that, he threw the file in his hand to the female officer.
Cai Yan was not a rash person; otherwise, she wouldn't have been the Chief of the West District Police Station at such a young age, no matter how strong her background was. So when she saw Yang Chen's calm and composed expression, she felt something was different. She suspiciously picked up the file and glanced through it.
Gradually, a layer of frost covered Cai Yan's beautiful and spirited face. She gave a fierce glance at the big-bearded man and the black-faced officer lying on the ground, then said coldly to Yang Chen, "Sir, what is your surname?"
"Surname Yang, name Chen."
"I am Cai Yan, Chief of the West District Police Station. I apologize for the misconduct of my subordinates. However, you assaulted law enforcement officers, so you must be detained. You have the right to remain silent and the right to hire a lawyer to defend you. If no one bails you out, you will be released after at least forty-eight hours." After saying that, Cai Yan didn't wait for Yang Chen to say more and immediately ordered several officers to carry the two unconscious men out of the room. She then looked at Yang Chen with a complex expression and slammed the iron door shut!
Yang Chen watched the group come in and out, and found himself still locked inside, unable to help but smile bitterly. Hiring a lawyer, getting someone to bail him out, he didn't even have a cell phone to call anyone. It seemed he would have to stay in the small room for forty-eight hours.
Outside the room, Cai Yan looked at Feng Biao, who was already drenched in cold sweat, and frowned, "Captain Feng, I will report your actions truthfully at the end-of-month evaluation. You're on your own!" After saying that, she left Feng Biao, who was now weak in the knees, and walked back to her office.
Back in her office, Cai Yan didn't stop to rest. Although she had been a police officer for only a few years, her keen intuition had always helped her solve many major cases. This time, she sensed something different from this young man named Yang Chen. She felt an inexplicable pressure from him, yet he seemed so harmless and friendly. What was she afraid of?
Cai Yan was proud and liked the feeling of everything being under her control. So she immediately began to mobilize her resources to search for Yang Chen's records.
Soon, Yang Chen's resume was brought up by Cai Yan. The information about Yang Chen was surprisingly scarce, and Cai Yan realized after a quick glance that there were too many inconsistencies in this resume...
"At the age of five, separated from parents, taken abroad by human traffickers... adopted by a kind couple... at the age of twenty-three, graduated with a Master's degree in Market Management from Harvard University, returned to China the same year..."
At the end of this simple and rough resume, there was indeed a photo of Yang Chen with Harvard University's female president, Drew Faust, on campus. The iconic red buildings of Harvard and the prominent school emblem were clearly visible. In the photo, Yang Chen looked scholarly and was smiling brightly with Faust.
The photos in the police database were certainly not photoshopped, but Cai Yan still felt she was being fooled. What kind of Harvard graduate would sell lamb skewers in a market?! And what about the years between being adopted and graduating from university? There were over ten years missing, how did it jump directly to graduation?
However, Cai Yan quickly calmed down. The police database would not be tampered with without authorization. Each person's information was placed there by the authorities. Since this obviously flawed and ridiculous resume existed, there must be a reason. But why would the higher-ups put such a resume in the database?
Cai Yan quickly thought of two possibilities: First, Yang Chen's identity was very special, belonging to a state secret, such as a security bureau agent; Second, Yang Chen's identity was also very special, but it was someone the state did not want people to know about...
Cai Yan quickly ruled out the first possibility. If he were a security bureau agent, the information would be detailed and impeccable, making it less likely to arouse suspicion. Therefore, Yang Chen must be a very special person, so special that the higher-ups did not want to reveal his identity and did not even bother to cover it up, just leaving it as a facade.
It couldn't be denied that Cai Yan was not only a police officer but also a beautiful woman, and more importantly, a woman full of curiosity! For such a person, Cai Yan naturally became interested. Almost instantly, in Cai Yan's mind, Yang Chen turned into a notorious thief, an international fugitive, a major drug lord in the Golden Triangle, a mad scientist, and various other identities. One thing was certain—Chief Cai was interested in Yang Chen!
Just as Cai Yan was pondering how to investigate this suspicious person's background, there was a knock on the door.
"Come in."
A young, fair-faced police officer entered with a fawning smile. In the officers' minds, their chief was not only a beautiful woman but also a formidable figure like a nun. He reported in a low voice, "Chief, Lawyer Zhang from the East City Law Firm wants to bail out the suspect named Yang Chen."
