The Twentieth Sentence Part 1

As soon as he received the message, Cheng Su wondered why he thought the girl was timid.

She was daring enough to control his world when she had the desire to and she played like he was a young boy in the palm of her hand.

Why else would his heart rate be increasing? It was beating even faster than the moment he saw her yesterday.

He called Pu Tao directly.

His breathing was a little heavy. It was like he did not just come off the livestream, but had been running a long way all night.

Pu Tao sat in place and quietly listened to his breathing. Her skin warmed up from the lights above shining on her.

Cheng Su walked out of his house with just his keys. “When did you arrive?”

Pu Tao did not try to hide it from him. “It’s just been a while.”

Cheng Su stopped in front of the elevator and looked at the numbers flashing by. “Why did you just tell me?”

His tone remained the same. He did not sound like he was blaming her. Instead, it was like an ordinary conversation between long-distance lovers.

Pu Tao said, “I wanted to try the Americano in your store first. I was very curious.”

This answer was like ground coffee mix. It was sweet, frank, and attractive.

Cheng Su’s Adam’s apple slightly moved. “What did you think?”

Pu Tao joked, “Boss Cheng, do you want to listen to rainbow farts 1 or the truth?”

“The latter.”

Pu Tao: “I was drinking while listening to your livestream. My tastebuds were not working. I couldn’t calm down to taste it.”

Cheng Su laughed and walked into the elevator. “Then your money was not wasted.”

Pu Tao: “It doesn’t matter. Fertilized water should be used to enrich one’s own land and not other people’s 2 .

Cheng Su was happy she said that idiom. “I’m going over there now.”

Pu Tao’s chest rose. “Okay, I will wait for you.”

Nine o’clock in the evening was Shan City’s most beautiful time. The wind was warm and humid, the sky was misty. The Jialing River and the Yangtze River turned into a mixed alcoholic drink poured into an exquisite glass cup. The whole city presented itself as a strange, dazzling view from the tipsiness of the rivers.

Cheng Su parked in front of the store. He walked through the crowd and went straight in.

His arrival made the man and woman, who were relaxing at the counter, stand up with their eyes wide open.

The woman’s name was Yong Jingshu. She was the manager of the main store.

The boy’s name was Cong Shan. He was the store’s ambassador. He was responsible for blending the drinks and selling his charms.

Yong Jingshu teased, “Oh, what a rare visitor. What are you doing here?”

Cheng Su smiled and cut to the chase. “Have you seen a girl with a suitcase?”

Cong Shan immediately responded, “I have, I carried it for her.” He pointed to the manager. “Sister Shu asked me to.”

Cheng Su took one more look at him, and slight approval flashed through his eyes. “Where is she sitting?”

Cong Shan suddenly had an epiphany. He went around the counter to lead the way.

Cheng Su raised his hand and stopped him. “Tell me where she is, and I’ll go there alone.”

Cong Shan: “Tsk.”

He pointed to a direction. “The second table over there.”

Cheng Su turned around and went that way.

Pu Tao was sitting foolishly, waiting for her second meeting with Cheng Su.

There was only 30 hours separating them from their last meeting.

She had a book and an empty cup of coffee in her hands.

She had only turned a few pages in the book. She was not very interested in reading, and she was restless and couldn’t hold her attention to it. The dense text only intensified this mood.

The situation did not improve even at the moment when Cheng Su suddenly appeared. She confirmed that she was terminally ill with a heart that was beating faster than normal.

Pu Tao knew he was coming, but she didn’t expect him to come so soon.

It was like he really came from the clouds and landed in front of her. He made an incredible miracle happen because of a message from her.

But when she looked at his clothes carefully, she found that the men dressed a little more casually and were not as formal as what he wore yesterday.

But she was still shy and immediately stood up.

Cheng Su looked at her and said, “Sit down.”

Pu Tao looked back at him and said, “You should sit down, too.”

Cheng Su stopped in place and looked at her face for a while.

"

"

A woman’s features should be highlighted gently, but her personality really jumped out. The contrast made her beauty shattering and different. At this moment, her reserved and aloof appearance had a soothing quality that gave him encouragement.

Cheng Su saw that she was going to sit down, and he thought of something. He said, “Don’t sit yet.”

Pu Tao quickly got up from her seat and stood up straight, like she was doing a quick squat.

Cheng Su asked, “Can I give you a hug?”

Pu Tao was a little surprised.

Cheng Su looked at her. “Just a hug, you can refuse.”

This was the best thing he could think of to say at the moment.
