The Last Sentence Part 3

“You are a little stubborn, and you do not want to bother people, so I think this way is more appropriate. If our relationship grows in the future, this house can be our house after the wedding. If one day, you don’t like me, and we separate, I will go back to Shan City and leave the house empty. You can check in at any time you need it. If you are worried, we can sign an agreement.”

Pu Tao’s heart fluttered and stared at him with complete shock.

She murmured, a little dazed and overwhelmed. “You are really in love…”

Cheng Su seemed to have fully accepted this description of him. “Did you just realize it?”

Pu Tao was silent for a moment. “I have to think about it.”

Cheng Su was not surprised. “Okay.”

…

When they got home, Pu Tao was still stuck on Cheng Su’s surprising plan. She was absent-minded and could not concentrate on what she did.

While Cheng Su took a shower, she picked up the photo frame next to the bed and gazed at it intently.

How could such a good man fall for her? She thought back to his shocking ideas at dinner. She laughed with delight and finally sighed proudly and went back to bed.

Pu Tao sent Wechat to Xin Tian for help and told her everything that had happened.

Xin Tian was so shocked that she let out a whirlwind of dirty words: “What is Cheng Su doing? Is he tricking you? But look at his real life circumstances, look at his friend groups. He does not act like a liar. Reversely, you are a love liar. Even if you trick him, you still get a house.”

Pu Tao put half her face into the pillow and giggled: “Nonsense.”

Xin Tian: “You have to clarify some things. What if you break up after a year and a half? You will still be connected to him because of the ‘mortgage’.”

Pu Tao muttered: “Oh, right…”

Xin Tian: “This man has a lot of deep thoughts and has a good scheme. I am so jealous. How can he like you so much?”

Pu Tao: “???” ·̩̩̥͙**•̩̩͙✩•̩̩͙*˚ ꜱᴜᴘᴘᴏʀᴛ ᴛʜᴇ ᴛʀᴀɴꜱʟᴀᴛᴏʀ ᴀɴᴅ ʀᴇᴀᴅ ᴏɴ ꜰᴏxᴀʜᴏʟɪᴄ.ᴄᴏᴍ ˚*•̩̩͙✩•̩̩͙*˚*·̩̩̥͙

After bantering with each other for a while, Cheng Su returned to the bedroom. The part of the mattress next to her sunk a bit, and Pu Tao was held into his arms.

Cheng Su’s body had the familiar shower gel fragrance. Pu Tao sniffed it quietly, and let herself be hugged. Then, opened her mouth and said, “I just told my friend about this.”

“Okay,” Cheng Su said softly, “What did she say?”

“She asked about if we break up and I have not finished paying you back yet.”

“If we break up, you won’t be able to reach me.”

"

"

“Huh?”

“You will be able to do what you want with the house. You have the keys anyway.”

“You said there won’t be any coercion!” Pu Tao fussed. She pinched his rib area a few times, but didn’t really use force. “I can’t afford it.”

Cheng Su chuckled and pressed his lips to her ear. “This is not coercion, but to reassure you. I have been thinking about how to express my devotion and love for you. This is probably the most appropriate way. I will not force you if you do not want to. I fully respect your decision.”

Pu Tao was silent for a while. Then the head using his head as a pillow moved. She raised her head to his neck. “Why do you like me?”

Cheng Su thought for a while and said frankly, “I don’t know.”

“You don’t know?” Pu Tao was about to bump into his chin.

Cheng Su raised his hand and teased her hair. “Well, why do you ask this question so frequently?”

Pu Tao rubbed her head and mumbled, “Right, it’s because I haven’t heard a clear answer.”

Cheng Su sighed, “That’s why I’m trying to prove it, but you don’t like it.”

Pu Tao snorted, “Can’t we fall in love and buy a house together when our relationship develops more? It will be more equal then.”

“I don’t mind if you’re not afraid of pressure.”

“I will try my best to reach that level of equalness.”

“It might not be easy to achieve that 50-50 equalness.”

“Then we will take some more time to do it.”

“So what you mean is you have plans for a future with me.”

“Say it again.”

“Again?”

“…Don’t pinch me, it’s ticklish…”

…

“Can you say that to me again?”

“Which sentence?”

“That sentence.”

“I don’t know which one.”

“Stop pretending!”

“Why don’t you go to bed? I won’t call you tomorrow.”

“Eeek~”

…

—The End—

The author has something to say:

Completed another urban fairy tale. 😀

I don’t plan on writing about them seeing each other’s parents, getting married, and having children. I always feel like those order of events goes against my original intentions.

It’s a love story, that’s all.

The novel was inspired by a friend who loves listening to dramas online. She works in Chengdu, so that’s why the background is set in Rong City and Shan City (Sichuan and Chongqing). I’ve done my homework, but there must be some errors in the details, which I didn’t think about, so don’t worry about it.

Thank you for reading and for accompanying me.
