Chapter 5

Since the last battle with the people from the Special Ability Administration, Lin Fei has not gone out after returning home, staying indoors all the time. He wanted to see how things would develop and wait for the fuss to die down. After all, he used two special abilities at the time, and although for him it was just one special ability, they would likely think he has two. For safety, he decided to lay low for now.

It wasn't until a few days later, one morning.

On August 25, 2018, at 8:30 AM, Lin Fei, who had stayed up late playing games the night before, woke up late and didn't have breakfast until 8:30. He turned on the TV and sat on the sofa in the living room, eating bread and drinking milk. At this moment, the TV program switched, and a host in the uniform of the Special Ability Administration appeared on the screen.

"Hello everyone, I am Geng Jie, the spokesperson for the Central Special Ability Administration. Today, by the directive of the central government, I am here to speak on behalf of the central government.

As everyone knows, since the first manifestation of spiritual abilities, the number of people with spiritual abilities has been increasing. Spiritual abilities not only nourish the human body, making it healthier and stronger, but some spiritual ability holders can also awaken special abilities at the age of 16.

This has led a small group of awakened individuals to believe they are the chosen ones, a misconception of new humans, leading to some illegal and criminal activities. However, our government firmly believes that having spiritual abilities and awakening special abilities is not a special favor from heaven. Our researchers have found that over time, everyone will eventually have spiritual abilities, and awakening special abilities is just a special talent, not making you superior because you have it."

"Next, I have an important announcement. Since the end of last year, our country's spiritual ability research institute has discovered that the concentration of spiritual abilities in our country is increasing, and the same is true for other countries around the world. In the future, the Blue Star will enter a new era of universal spiritual abilities due to the further explosion of spiritual abilities, and the awakening of special abilities will also change. The previous notion that special abilities can only be awakened at 16 has been overturned. Special abilities can be awakened after 16, and those with special abilities can awaken multiple times, possessing multiple special abilities."

"From the end of last year to today, we have already discovered 9 individuals with dual special abilities, and there may be more in the future. The government hopes that those who have already awakened and re-awakened their special abilities will promptly register their actual situation with the government, not hide their situation, or use their special abilities for illegal activities. Building a harmonious era of spiritual abilities is the responsibility and duty of every citizen."

"So it's the explosion of spiritual abilities! No wonder I've felt the concentration of spiritual abilities in Rongcheng gradually increasing since last year," Lin Fei thought to himself as he listened to the government spokesperson on TV.

"In the future, more and more people will have multiple special abilities. Even if I reveal some of my special abilities, it shouldn't be a problem. Should I register? If everyone will have special abilities in the future, and there will be many special ability holders, wouldn't it seem strange if I don't have any? If I register, should I only register that I have special abilities, or should I also register my special abilities?" Lin Fei fell into deep thought.

"Forget it, I'll register both my spiritual and special abilities to avoid future trouble," Lin Fei decided.

After making his decision, Lin Fei got up and went to his bedroom to change clothes, planning to register his new information with the Special Ability Administration.

The Special Ability Administration has set up many offices in Rongcheng, so there's no need to go to the main office for registration. There's an office just two streets away from Lin Fei's neighborhood, saving him a lot of time.

When Lin Fei arrived at the office, he realized he had been too optimistic; the time savings were not as expected.

After the morning press conference, many people came to register. Looking at the long queue, there were about 200 people waiting to register.

Most of the people registering were over 20 years old, apparently having awakened recently.

The queue moved slowly and orderly. By the time Lin Fei received his registration form, another long line had already formed behind him.

The registration process was quite simple, and the staff explained the procedure when he received the form.

The content on the registration form was similar to what is required for an ID card, with additional fields for the time of awakening and the type of special ability.

After filling out the form, he had to go to the adjacent training hall for verification and testing, which involved more waiting. There's no helping it; China has a large population!

Lin Fei waited so long that he felt like the flowers were wilting, but finally, it was his turn. During the wait, he saw many strange special abilities, such as making one's hair grow and curl, emitting a faint light from the thumb, falling asleep in 3 seconds, increasing speaking speed, not feeling thirsty for a day without water, and making oneself deaf.

"Next."

Lin Fei handed his form and ID card to the registration officer, who used a device similar to a barcode scanner to scan Lin Fei. "Beep!" the scanner made a clear sound.

"Passed. Now, demonstrate your special ability," the registration officer said.

Fortunately, Lin Fei had already deactivated his concealment ability before leaving home, otherwise, the scanner wouldn't have detected his spiritual abilities.

Lin Fei reported his special ability as a small fireball. He raised his right hand, extended his index finger, and with a "bang," a small, orange, ping-pong ball-sized fireball appeared on his fingertip.

"Hmm, finally, a decent special ability," the registration officer muttered.

"Alright, here's your ID card. Your new information has been recorded."

Lin Fei took the ID card and turned to leave. At that moment, a voice exclaimed, "This person's awakened special ability is so strong! The wind blades he created are as big as a basin. If that hits someone, it would be terrible."

"Yeah! I just saw the registration officer ask if he wanted to join the Special Ability Administration, and he seemed to agree. That's great! He'll be working for the government from now on."

Hearing the conversation, Lin Fei left the office. "Government jobs aren't as easy as they seem, especially in the Special Ability Administration. It's best to live a peaceful and stable life," Lin Fei thought.

A new era is approaching. Many people think that this explosion of spiritual abilities will only make humans have special abilities in the future, but they don't know that the plants and animals on the Blue Star will also further awaken. Nature, after being exploited by humans for centuries, is already scarred. In this explosion of spiritual abilities, she will slowly recover, but she won't be as gentle as before.

The old scientific system will no longer be suitable for the new era. Spiritual ability technology will take its place. The application of spiritual abilities and the use of spiritual ability materials will gradually become the main theme of this new era.
