After Sun Hao drove away, Su Mu stood there without moving for a long time until the car completely disappeared. He then turned and entered a bank on the corner of the street.
During the meal, Grandpa Su made it clear to him that because of ‘his’ self-willedness, he had angered many people, and the family decided to cut off his allowance for this semester, so that he could reflect on himself.
Therefore, in the current situation, he needed to figure out how much money was left in the original owner’s bank card and whether it would be enough for him to pass through this semester smoothly…
There weren’t many people doing business in the bank, and it was Su Mu’s turn after a while. He asked the front desk staff to help him set a new password and inquired about the balance in the card.
Thankfully, there were still 20,000 yuan in the card, enough to get him pass through this semester.
He happily put the bank card in his bag and walked into a nearby hair salon with ease.
When he came out after getting a haircut, it suddenly started raining outside. The raindrops pattered on the ground, splashing water around.
The rain was so fast and heavy that it completely drenched his newly dried hair. He rubbed his eyes and saw a shop in front of him, so he hurriedly ran there, only to realize upon reaching the entrance that it was a pet shop with many adorable little creatures inside.
He has always had no resistance to this kind of furry things, finding them cute. He opened the door and walked in.
A staff was dragging a big dog to take a bath when they heard the noise and looked over. As a result, in just a split second, the dog jumped out of the pool nimbly and ran directly to the door, as if it had become a spirit.
Su Mu had raised dogs when he was a child and he was very experienced with such large dogs. He closed the door with his backhand, and was not afraid when he saw the dog rushing towards him covered in foam. He skillfully grabbed half of the guy’s body and held it in his arms.
The staff was a young girl. Seeing the dog jumping towards him suddenly, she was worried that he would be scared, so she hurriedly shouted: “Don’t be afraid, it doesn’t bite people…”
She rushed over in a hurry, but when she looked up, she met the young man’s faint smile and gentle eyes, while the troublemaker was now whining and acting cute in the young man’s arms.
“It’s okay, it’s just playing with me.” Su Mu smiled and pushed away the foam on the dog’s head. After getting a clear look at the dog’s appearance, he was stunned, “A Czech Wolfdog [1]?”
The staff was staring at him absentmindedly. When she heard what he said, she exclaimed “ah!” After a while, she realized it and blushed, nodding, “Uh, yes, you, you know about this breed?”
Su Mu gently stroked the big guy’s back, saw it comfortably nuzzling against him, and said with a smile: “I do. My family used to have one too.”
At that time, the city was not strictly controlled, and his grandfather was afraid that he would be lonely, so he specially asked for a dog from a friend.
Su Mu was thrilled at the time and couldn’t wait to come home every day after school to play with it in the courtyard. Later, both of his grandparents passed away, leaving only the big dog to accompany him. And then, the dog also left, leaving him all alone in the house…
The staff saw him suddenly lower his head and remain silent, his long and thick eyelashes casted a faint shadow on his eyelids, and his fair skin was marked with water stains. For some inexplicable reason, her heart skipped a beat, and she unconsciously handed over a tissue, whispering, “You can wipe yourself dry, be careful not to catch a cold.”
After she finished speaking, she found that her voice was dry and a little abrupt. To cover up her embarrassment, she reached out to take the big dog over, but before she could touch the it, the dog stretched out its paw and patted her away. After that, its huge head went straight into Su Mu’s arms.
The staff glared at the wolfdog, which stubbornly clung to Su Mu, and said, “I’ve fed you so much, but you don’t even spare me a glance. When you see someone good-looking, you go all in, do you have any shame? Come here, you’re covered in foam, let me wash you off.”
Seeing the big dog completely ignore the staff, Su Mu smiled and said, “It’s still small, it’s probably scared of water. Let me do it for you!”
The staff hesitated, looking at Su Mu and then at the dog stuck to him, feeling a bit embarrassed. “Then I have to trouble you, I have not been here for long, I’m still a novice…”
Su Mu put the big dog into the pool, rubbed its fur comfortingly with one hand and took the water hose handed to him by the clerk with the other hand. After testing the water temperature, he started rinsing the dog.
The staff was a little worried at first and was nervously guarding at the side, afraid that the dog would rush out again. But she didn’t expect that the dog not only didn’t struggle, but also squinted its eyes and hummed comfortably, as if it was enjoying. She finally relaxed.
After washing and blow-drying the big dog, the rain outside had stopped.
Although the Czech Wolfdog was large, it was only three months old, so it was in its clingy phase. This guy must have been conquered by Su Mu’s massage techniques, and now it was completely stuck to him. When it saw Su Mu about to leave, it extended its paw, ready to pounce on him.
The staff stopped it, saying, “You behave yourself, your owner will come to pick you up soon.”
Su Mu rubbed its head reluctantly. Seeing that it was getting late, he bid farewell to the staff, opened the door and walked out.
It was completely dark outside. Because it had just rained, there weren’t many pedestrians around.
The residential area was quite big, and since it was nighttime, Su Mu didn’t trust his instincts. He relied on the navigation and followed its instructions to find his way. When he arrived at the destination, there happened to be an aunt carrying a paper bag and bringing a child inside the building.
The paper bag wasn’t sturdy, and as soon as the aunt entered the hallway, the contents inside fell out.
A few pieces of fruit rolled right to Su Mu’s feet, and he bent down to help pick them up.
The aunt quickly thanked him and took out another paper bag from her bag. With Su Mu’s assistance, she repacked the items.
After entering the elevator, the little girl took out her phone and swiped the card, then asked with a smile, “Big brother, which floor are you on?”
Su Mu thought for a while and told her his floor number.
The little girl immediately pressed the elevator button for him, and when they reached his floor, he waved goodbye to the mother and daughter and walked out.
The original owner’s home was on the 20th floor, equipped with an electronic lock that required either fingerprint or a password to open, which was quite convenient.
Su Mu was quite used to this kind of door lock. He used to install this kind of electronic lock in his home in his original world, but because his fingerprint was not easy to identify, he usually used the password to unlock the door.
When he arrived at the door, he raised his hand to press his fingerprint, but unfortunately, he heard the sudden sound of verification failure echoing in the empty corridor.
Such a situation was quite normal; some people’s fingerprints were not easily recognizable, leading to verification failures. Therefore, he didn’t take it seriously and tried again a few more times.
But it’s a pity that the original owner’s fingerprint seemed to be just like his own, not easily recognizable.
After trying five or six times in a row, the door still remained unresponsive. Su Mu was finally dumbfounded.
He didn’t know the password at all. If his fingerprint couldn’t be verified, he might not even be able to go home tonight.
Having just been in the rain, with wet hair sticking to his face and damp clothes, he was eager to get inside and take a hot shower. Unfortunately, he was already at the door, but he couldn’t get in.
Su Mu took out his phone in frustration, browsed through the original owner’s photo album and WeChat, hoping to find a clue. After searching for a long time, he couldn’t find the password. In the end, he had no choice but to call Grandpa Su.
The phone rang a few times before Grandpa Su answered, his voice sounding deep, “What’s the matter?”
Su Mu trembled, and subconsciously used honorifics: “Um, about that password…Do you remember it?”
“Password?”
“Yes, the fingerprint verification of my front door isn’t working, and I seem to have forgotten the password…”
Hearing the words, the old man roared angrily: “You actually forgot the password! You set that thing yourself, how would I know! I told you before, these electronic things are unreliable. I asked you back then to replace it, but you just wouldn’t listen…”
Su Mu’s ears trembled from being yelled at, so he rubbed his ears.
After the old man finished yelling, he paused for a moment and said, “I’ll ask Haozi [2] to help you find a locksmith to come over later.”
Su Mu shook his head hurriedly. He had already troubled him enough today, and with the way things were going, he couldn’t bear to bother him again tomorrow when school starts. He feels very sorry for such a tossing.
After he shook his head, he remembered that the old man couldn’t see, so he whispered: “No need, I’ll try again, and if it doesn’t work, I’ll ask the property management. It’s quite far from here, and it’s not convenient for him to come back and forth.”
The old man snorted and didn’t say anything more, but before hanging up, he said stiffly, “It’s going to rain tonight. Remember to close the windows before sleeping, be careful not to catch a cold.”
Su Mu was taken aback, then softly replied with an “en”.
After hanging up, he didn’t rush to find the property management. Instead, he took out the original owner’s ID card, planning to make a desperate struggle according to the birthday on it. Some people like to use their own birthdays or their family members’ birthdays when setting passwords. For example, the password for his door lock was his grandmother’s birthday.
Su Mu clicked on the touch screen and was pressing the birthday as the password when he suddenly heard a ‘ding’ sound behind him, and the elevator door opened.
He thought it might be a neighbor coming back, and was hesitating whether to greet them when he heard a cold voice from behind, “What are you doing?”
Su Mu turned his head and saw a young man with sharp eyes staring at him coldly.
The man was tall, at least 1.84 meters, with broad and straight shoulders, long and slender legs, and a perfectly proportioned figure. At first glance, he looked like a model walking on the runway.
His bangs were fine and messy, revealing a full forehead and chilly, deep eyes. His eyebrows were slightly arched, giving off an air of sharpness.
This person was extremely good-looking. Even with a mask on, he could still dazzle anyone. However, his imposing aura was too strong, emitting a chilling coldness that made people dare not approach.
Su Mu was frozen by the air-conditioning aura, and quickly snapped back to his senses. He said awkwardly: “It’s nothing, just a problem with the door lock. It doesn’t recognize my fingerprint.” After speaking, he absentmindedly tried again in front of the the other party.
The man glanced at him coldly, then directly walked pass him with those straight long legs.
Su Mu watched as the man extended his fair and slender hand, the tip of his index finger lightly tapping the door lock, and the door opened with a ‘click’.
He suddenly widened his eyes, and he belatedly realized what had happened. Stepping back, he asked in astonishment, “This, this is your home?”
The man seemed to hear something amusing, raised his eyelids, and said with a sneer, “Otherwise, where do you think it is? Your home?”
Su Mu: “…” I, I really thought it was my home! !
