My New Life, Won't You Please Become Peaceful! Chapter 50 58 Jun 28, 2018

Both of their swords clashed, along with the sound of explosions.
I tried to squint my eyes to see what was happening. I couldn’t help but be curious so I asked the glasses who wasn’t far away, “Arian, would you mind telling me if both of those misters over there are the same age as me?”
How could their powers be way higher than mine? Was this because the game’s creators were biased towards them? Answer!
“That is Haref and Nigel who are of the same age as you but 2 years younger than me. Is that clear, Bedivere?”
Yup.
“By the way…is that your shadow? So you’ve called him. Oh, well…”, Arian glanced at Salsaal who was mumbling and continued to focus on the battle.
In truth, this battle is extraordinarily extravagant, it had attracted all the other groups. Everyone all looked at the battle from the sidelines without interfering. I could see Duncan at the opposite side and the three boys: Geriant, Gareth and Gaheris were not far away. I saw that when both sides met each other’s eyes, both groups turned the other way…how suspicious!
The despicable cupid, I meant Salsaal, stepped on my foot. “Pay attention to the battle. It’s not everyday that you’ll see both of them get this serious. This time, just by watching them, you should be able to learn something.”
…But my only objective is to search for my lil’ bro.
However, when I met his glaring orange eyes, I immediately paid attention to the battle while attempting to creep out in order to search for Cass at the same time.
People who are good at swords have such flexible bodies. They are able to dodge each other’s swords and magic attacks as if they were gymnasts. Such a great waist they have but actually, having a good waist is also a great quality for a good seme, cough! That’s enough, let’s stop before I reach the point of no return. I should stop, stop and stop having these kind of thoughts.
Both of them are using the same style of fighting: a combination of sword and magic. The damage from the battle increased as more debris started flying our way along with the crossfire from both of their magic. All the other to-be Dukes have already started to set up their own barriers while I clung to Salsaal. Whether I survive or not depends on the Prince. Please protect me!
Nigel swung his sword but Haref parried it and lunged his sword forwards. Nigel defended himself using his own sword and attacked back. Their complex sword fight did not stop even once. Both of them were so fast it was as if they didn’t have to stop and think…
…as if they were relying on their instincts.
How hard would you have to train in order to reach this level. Haref is into SM, I know that he thirsts for violence on a regular basis but for someone as calm and collected as Nigel, doesn’t he seem a bit insane?
Nigel’s powers ran wilder and wilder as the battle continued but he was still as calm and collected as ever.
“Nigel’s definitely got great skills but Haref is holding back his power of light.”, Arian who was close to me uttered. “Because if he were to use all the power he had in him, the moment their swords clash, Nigel’s sword should’ve been cut into two halves.”
Such a strong sword like that, maybe he’s talking about Excalibur?
However, when I thought about it, the light element’s features can also function as a laser – making it able to cut through metal.
Haref is seriously like one of those whales! Isn’t he too much of a cheat?! (TN: a whale is someone who spends a lot of real money on in-game items)
“Isn’t this the same as Haref looking down on Nigel?”, Salsaal made a discontented sound. “If the other side is going at you with everything they have while the opposite side is holding back, isn’t this basically the same as a cat teasing a mouse.”
“If you think so then that means that you’re not a swordsman because to us, we call it a sword combination.”, Arian pushed his glasses up and glanced sideways at the Prince.
“Oh…your words intrigue me.”, the Prince smiled in disdain. “Hey, Mr righteous knight, don’t you ever think it isn’t fair? The cute Nigel who pours all of his efforts into the fight yet he can’t even face the opponent’s true strength.”
“If the results are like that…it just means that he’s not powerful and strong enough.”, Arian closed his eyes. “If he’s not powerful and strong enough…there’s no way Haref will fight him with everything he has.”
“Why?”
“…It’s probably because to Haref…Nigel is an extremely important friend…”, his glasses reflected the light in front of us. “No matter who…they have no wish to hurt their own friends if they can avoid it.”
“Isn’t he kind”, Salsaal laughed, his orange eyes was dyed red for a spilt second. He said something in a whisper as if he was talking to himself. “…so kind he repulses me…”
Use everything that you have. Exchange all your experiences and efforts in order to face the other but what you received from the other person was something mediocre…
Wow, isn’t that fair?!
“All of you are actually trampling on Nigel’s pride…”
…That includes you, Haref Lancelot…
…even if you may not know it at all.
.
.
.
“Why aren’t you fighting me seriously?”
“I have been, Nigel”, a deep voice answered. “You’ve improved by leaps and bounds.”
“You haven’t fought me seriously at all. The light magic you’re using isn’t as powerful and concentrated.”
“Please fight me seriously.”
The other lowered his rainbow coloured eyes. “I have been seriously fighting you with all the sword skills I have.”
But my magic…
He, the person who is connect to excalibur…if he uses that power, isn’t that the same as cheating?
Excluding the fact that Excalibur’s power is too dangerous – it possesses high level magic. In this world, only a handful of people can withstand it…it’s the same as a God that has materialised upon this world.
“…You can’t control our power.”, Excalibur’s voice sounded in his mind. The Holy Sword sat on the branch of a tree, watching over its master. “But you are angry at him and you hate him. If you want to kill him then it’s fine if you use us…”
“I don’t want to kill him, Excalibur.” a part of his concentration was used to answer the Holy Sword. “I don’t hate him that much…”
“Hm…if you don’t hate him to the extent you want to kill him, from what I’ve read from novels, I think you’re…”, the Holy Sword tilted its neck . “hurt by your friends because they lied? So you vented your anger on them as you’ve done before? Now…”
Haref cut off the conversation which was leading to a weird conclusion. The sword is talking too much and has learnt too many weird things from novels.
He swung his sword once more before clashing powerfully with the other. Haref scrunched his brows together when he felt that the sword was heavier than usual, a sign saying that Nigel is dissatisfied.
…But he can’t do anything about it.
He cannot say it. He cannot tell him and he cannot fight him seriously.
“Why aren’t you fighting me seriously?”, the same question sounded once again. “…You’ve always been like this, you were also like this in the past, Haref. You’ve never fought me seriously no matter how much I beg you to and I want to ask you the same question again, Haref…”, his argent eyes shone sharply, “Why?”
At that time, Haref thought of the conversation he had with Gilbert.
“You know there’s no way he’ll win against you.”
“Are you saying that Nigel’s efforts were for naught?”
“His efforts were not wasted. The results of his efforts is the person he is right now. If you don’t take into account the fact that he’s not accepted as the leader yet, what else is there for Nigel to be ashamed of? He’s powerful, strong and intelligent – he is perfect all round…”
“…But maybe, he might not be aware of this since his true objective is to compete.”
He looked at the Nigel Gawain in front of him at the moment.
The boy who used to be adorable and used to follow behind him as he walked. The boy who’s stronger and more hard working than anyone else. He was born with immense power but not the most powerful. He was born with talent…but not to the full extent either.
A boy who has struggled desperately in order to make himself more powerful.
When he thought back to those times…before they were friends, he had always seen the other as an adorable younger brother.
The boy who was afraid of girls with his eyes that seemed to be thinking about a lot of things at once yet empty at the same time. He was polite and was smiling lightly. He didn’t know when the other’s smile had faded. When was it that he stopped seeing the other as his younger brother and started seeing the other as a friend.
When was it that the person who used to follow behind him, started to walk beside him.
When was it…
“Ah…”
“…But maybe, he might not be aware of this since his true objective is to compete.”
No, Gilbert, Nigel has always known…
He’s always known what he’s putting in his efforts for, what he’s chasing after and no matter what, he’d never yielded.
The boy in front of him had grown up…too grown up his thought process had already excelled all the others. It was only him and Gilbert who’d thought the other was still the same person he was in the past. He’s not doing it to compete or just because he’s a ‘Gawain’…
…but it’s because the other is ‘Nigel’.
‘Nigel’s’ true nature that’s more hard working than everyone else – more than any other Gawains – that was the Nigel they knew.
When their swords clashed again, Haref laughed…
At first, Nigel didn’t understand what was going on but when he met the pair of rainbow coloured eyes that has now completely changed, everything became clear. The moment he retreated to recover, a golden mist that was bright than any other times gathered around Haref.
The person in front of him was becoming serious.
“…I’m sorry about before…”, Haref’s hand heated up. He could feel Haref’s magic building up, bright light gathered into a sword which imitated the design of Excalibur: his sword. “This time…I will not hold back anymore, Nigel Gawain.”
“That is what I desire.”, Nigel sped up the power in his body and controlled the atmosphere which surrounded both of them. He condensed it as quickly as he could – extracting everything it had. He wasn’t creating a sword like Haref but he was pressurising magical power.
He, himself, has not attempted something like this before but this was the only chance he’ll ever get of a serious fight from the other.
Pain ran through his head as he used his power. His body became colder and colder, however, above all of his pain was his rapidly increasing heartbeat along with the question he’d always asked himself.
For what did he put in his effort for?
Gawain.
For what did he do everything for?
Gawain.
For what reason did he have to win against Lancelot for?
Gawain.
Because he is a Gawain is the answer of why he was born. He lives for Gawain. His duty is to do anything in order to protect Gawain, protect its pride and carry on the desires of his ancestors…
That…
“Isn’t correct.”
Gawain has never told him to put in effort. Gawain has never told him to become stronger. What Gawain wanted was that he could still be a Gawain. The beautiful ‘Gawain’ who is the leader of the Knights of the Round Table – able to control everything as his father and ancestors did.
His father had never won against Duke Lancelot.
So, why does he have to win?
Why is he so attached to winning?
The answer…there’s only been one answer from the very beginning.
Because that is ‘Nigel Gawain’s’ desire.
“Son, I am certain, you’ll be an even better Gawain – even better than me.”
“Yes! I will try my best!”
Because that is ‘Nigel Gawain’s’ dedication.
“We are Gawain.”
The word, akin to that of a curse, was engraved into him whose beautiful face was decorated with a gentle smile.
“…But, I am still…Nigel Gawain…”
A silver light shone through the area before everything was consumed by a golden light.
The match ended with Nigel Gawain losing beautifully.
