My New Life, Won't You Please Become Peaceful! Chapter 49 60 Jun 23, 2018

“There are three things you should be informed of in this situation, Bedivere.”

I turned to the person who was taking a rest after not walking that far but it took so long that Duncan was able to wake up and scream as if he was in a slaughter house.

“The three things you’ve said, are they good or bad?”

“…not bad or good, but seems fun.”

That sounds pretty untrustworthy to me…

“Firstly…”, the Prince held up his finger. “…right now, another person has stumbled in to the person. Oh, naturally, I wasn’t talking about myself and I’ll tell you another thing, in case you wanted to know…that person is dangerous in many ways.”

I nodded lightly.

In typical novels, there will always be someone to stir up trouble in these kind of scenarios and obviously, that person will not be a good person. If they’re not a black mage then they might be an assassin or someone along those lines!

“Secondly…that person will eventually encounter Haref Lancelot and Nigel Gawain, who are in the middle of a battle if they continue walking on the same course.”

My condolences to you…

Such an unfortunate soul…

“Finally…”, the Prince smiled lightly before holding up three fingers.

“That person is…Cass Bedivere, your younger brother.”

Oh…

Holy shit!!

I took deep breaths.

“If something happens to my lil’ bro, prepare to become a widow Salsal!”

“Why, are you going to commit suicide?”

“You will become infertile! I’ll cheat on you! You’re going to become someone else’s wife! You knob head, stand up right now!”

.

.

.

“Hm…what were you singing…I’m riding a horsie through the countryside?…”

Just you wait——-!

“But horsie has the face of a thiefffffff hm, no that’s not right, I think I’ll need to sing higher.”

Just you fucking wait—!!!

I now know that karma exists! I truly understand your feelings Duncan! The feeling of running while having an asshole attached to your back!

That’s right! On my back!!

The Prince is riding my back while I’m running and my legs are shaking!!

All of this happened because the Prince is too weak and delicate to run. He can’t go far before being knocked out! When I was going to abandon him there, the Prince smiled in disgust and said if I don’t take him with me, I’ll be murdered. So, I had to use my non-existent physical strength and piggybacked the person who’s even taller than myself. I think I’ll lose it soon since this parasite is singing beside my ears, reminding me of my sins…

Remember Gilbert! This is for Cass! For Cassssss!!

“Are we there yet…huff…huff…”

“We’re not that far away. Tell me the rest of the lyrics. I’ll sing it to you.”, he said it as if he harboured good will towards me but how come I’m able to sense traces of malice in his words. “Judging from the distance, I think we’ll arrive before Cass…”

Baaammmmm—–!!

The sound of explosion answered us as if to say we’re not far away.

It seemed so violent, it’s scary how you think they might be killing each other not far from here.

I feel uncertain, I totally don’t want to go anywhere near them.

At first, I haven’t paid any attention to my surroundings but right now, on the ground that I am standing on, the ground becomes hot one moment and cold the other, it’s so weird. The hotness is probably from Haref’s power of light because the light element and fire element are considered to be similar.

“Sometimes I wonder why Nigel has to try this hard.”, I listened to the sound of explosions and sighed. Both of them are such hot-headed teenagers. “Is it because he’s a Gawain? Because he’s the leader of all the to-be Dukes? Is that why he has to triumph over Haref? Even though he knows that there’s no way he’ll win…”

“Well…”, a scornful smile appeared on the Prince’s face. The air which was previously hot then cold returned back to normal. I thought the Prince had probably put up a small barrier. “…there’s no way someone like you who has never cared about anything would understand, Bedivere…”

“Yeah…I agree.”

“Hmph.”, the Prince clicked his tongue and got down from my back, making my body that’s been suffering for a while able to relax at last. “No matter who, they’ll always want to be number one, even Nigel, he may be doing it for his household or it might be his desire to win against Haref.”

“What’s bad about being second?”, I didn’t understand. “You’re only below one person but above many others…what’s bad about that?”

Sometimes I can’t quite comprehend the thoughts of a talented person.

I don’t understand why they feel like it’s not enough…I don’t understand why they have to struggle and try their hardest. I don’t understand why they didn’t stop even though it’s tiring, troublesome and strenuous.

In truth, those who got first place…there are millions of them out there…

In this vast world, all the time you’ve travelled, lived and struggled, you will always encounter someone who’s come first place at something no matter where you go. If you become fixated on being number one, you will miss out on so many things in life. Where is the happiness in that? Are you just going to chase after the person who got first place for an eternity?…I really couldn’t comprehend…

A broad hand was placed on my head.

“You who do not care about status, authority, money or power…you truly are a rare person to come by. Let’s just say, you’ll probably be able to understand when…you come to love someone…

…you’ll understand the reason why even though, you may know that you’ll definitely lose with no possibilities of winning…you’ll choose to continue to struggle.”

…I still don’t understand.

“…Whatever.”, I sighed before flinching slightly. It seems like my surroundings…are setting alight? The trees are burning? They’re now frozen? This seemed to have become more frequent but it’s a sign saying that we’re closing onto Mr number-one-in-popularity and Mr number-two-in-popularity’s battle zone.

“Wow—-that’s absolutely horrifying. Salsal can you tell which direction Cass is going to be walking out from. If possible, I don’t want to walk into the middle of their fight!”

Getting hit by friendly fire is not worth it at all!

The thing I’m concerned about is that Cass can’t use magic, excluding the fact that he’s totally adorbs, how would he be able to run away? Oh, I nearly forgot, I also have to find out the reason why Cass ran away from home…

“Hey Salsal…”, I called him once more. The person who was just called lowered his face nearer to mine. Something in me told me to use my hands to cover my mouth but the Prince kindly pulled them out in order to remove them however, he did not succeed and could only let out a ‘hmph’.

“…Salsal are you feeling needy nowadays.”, I lowered my eyes…the Prince really is a pervert. “Haven’t I told you before…if you don’t have any feelings towards me then don’t kiss me again…”

His pair of orange coloured eyes looked at me in anger and irritation. “Do you think I’m just fooling around?”

“Well…yeah.”, I was silent for a moment and smiled but he probably couldn’t see it since my hands are still covering up my mouth. “At least…um…at least take note of your surroundings. Normally, when someone goes in for a kiss, you’ll have to kiss that person in a romantic place and not suddenly kiss anyone in any random place like you just did. Do you understand?”

“You’re saying as if you’ll let me if the ambience is right.”

“Probably…not.”, I refused him. “Salsaal, I don’t like it.”

Salsaal lowered his orange eyes and sighed. At first, I thought he was going to quit but the taller person bowed towards me.

“You’ve told me, if I didn’t have any feelings for you, I shouldn’t kiss you again but you’ve never asked me so, I haven’t told you, but you know, I know that you’re trying to run away from all this but I’m someone who’s selfish and too short-tempered to wait for you to ask me, Bedivere.”

…he left a faint touch onto the back of my hand instead of my lips which were covered.

“I have feelings for you.”

“So, from now on, even if you didn’t care, I wouldn’t care either.”

.

.

.

As for Calis Merlin…

“You traitor!!”

The Wizard was crying profusely. “You’re such a bad person. You used my worries towards you to make me come see you. How dare you do this to me? Do you still have your morals…”

“Silence!”

The Wizard immediately shut his mouth up.

“Do you think I don’t know you? You’re worried about me? Tell me, what kind of face should I make to my goddam son who stole an important item from the household?”

“Let him go…”, the Wizard turned the other way and moaned ‘adorably’. “Between me and the crystal ball, which one’s more important? Naturally, it’s me!”

“A goddam son who dares to elope with another man like you is more important?!”

“O-oh, so you knew…”, the Wizard blinked his blind eyes innocently. He could feel the pressure within the room increasing according to the mood of his conversing partner along with the heavy footsteps which are becoming heavier and heavier as if he wanted to grind him into pieces. “Please support my love. Just count it as dowry!”

The person he was conversing with glared at him furiously.

“By the way…”, the Wizard turned his head towards the direction where he could hear the breath of another person. “…the guest who’s drinking tea over there, aren’t you going to say anything?”

The third person who’s been sitting in the room but has never said anything put the tea cup down, “…You want us to say something?”

Eh?

Calis flinched. There’s something familiar about this man’s voice – a familiarly annoying tone of voice. While thinking of where he’d heard his voice and way of speaking from, the next words from the tea drinker who’d been silent answered everything.

“Calis Merlin where is our ‘son’?”

Son…

The fujoshi’s eyes were wide open when he realised the familiar voice and way of speaking which made countless of Salsaal’s cult members curse at him because he’s the villain of the secret route who will lead Salsaal to a Bad End!

King Arthur!

My future father-in-law!

The Wizard’s face paled before filing his complaint to the one person he’s able to shout at.

“Daddy! Why didn’t you tell me the other person in this room is King Arthur, huh daddy?! I eloped with his son! Daddy how can you do this to me. Do you not love me anymore…gasp hfda*G(#@4!!”

The Wizard’s mouth was stuffed with a piece of cloth. The perpetrator glared angrily at his goddam son who’s falling around.

“Have I not told you, do not call me daddy! You should call me father! You ungrateful son!!”

[Tea time behind the curtains -Is this a confession?-]

Salsaal: “What kind of idiotic topic are you coming up with again?!”

Gilbert: “Come one, I know you’re shy. Even if I might not pay attention to you but since you’re diligently making advances, I might just let it slip.”

Salsaal:; “Huh?”

Gilbert: “But if you want to do it properly then you should wait for a while. After that use you gentleness which is virtually non-existent to melt my loveless heart, then…”

Salsaal: “Goodddd. Stop babbling. It’s annoying!”

Salsaal: “Fine! Fine! Fine! I’ll end it all right now!”

Gilbert: “What? Are you going to rape me?!”

Salsaal: “My love, wouldn’t it be easier to kill you and find someone else?”

Gilbert: “…I’m sorry.”

Translator’s note:

For those who are wondering, yes, you’re not dreaming, Salsaal calls Gilbert ‘my love’ and will continue to from now on but don’t worry, your ships will sail eventually.
