Xu Jia asked Yang Han when did they take this family photo.
Yang Han picked up the photo frame and looked at it for a bit before saying, “I don’t remember. Probably when I was around 7 years old.”
There were five people in the photo. From left to right, it was Han Shi Yu, Han Lang, Yang Han, Old Yang and Yang Mo.
She could only remember she was 7 years old then, but as to why and under what circumstances did they take the photo, Yang Han had forgotten about it.
Usually, moments involving a family photo like this can stay in a person’s mind for a long time. But Yang Han did indeed still forget about it.
They had taken family photos far too many times, so within her memory, Yang Han was like a little girl chasing after the waves barefooted by the sea with too many seashells for her to count. She would then pick the best-looking one to hang in the photo frame.
Yang Han really, really liked clinging to Yang Mo.
She could talk about everything under the sun with Han Shi Yu but in comparison, she was quite silent in front of Yang Mo. However, in another sense, this also meant that Yang Mo’s position was a little more important in her heart.
Because Han Shi Yu’s character was like a friend to her, while Yang Mo was more like a parent.
Yang Han has made many friends in the past, but never had a parent that belonged exclusively to her.
She liked following Yang Mo around without saying a single word. If there was anything she could help with, she would immediately jump into it, then come back to continue following him around.
At that time, Yang Han was still in the lower grades of elementary school. When classes ended for the day, all the little kids would rush into the bus, chattering and chatting about the interesting things that happened. For parents who came to pick their kids up, they were lined up at the gate while the teacher watched over them.
There weren’t that many children in line for one class in the first place. Yang Han would always be one of the earliest to leave, because as soon as the school bell rang, Yang Mo was already waiting at the gate.
Yang Han almost never had to stand in line to wait. She carried her backpack and ran all the way to the school entrance. She ran really fast, bypassing many students on the way there.
When she spotted her final destination point – Yang Mo who was crouching with his arms slightly open, her heard would beat really hard yet she wouldn’t feel tired at all.
Tap tap tap.
She would rush straight into Yang Mo’s arms just like that.
Yang Mo picked up her daughter who had her arms tightly wrapped around his neck. The corners of his mouth would always be curved upwards.
The car was parked in front of the store some distance away. Yang Mo would carry her all the way there.
Half of little Yang Han’s face was buried in Yang Mo’s shoulder, just like a little bird who returned to its nest. An indescribable sense of peace and security wrapped around her.
When she saw the seniors walking home on their own turning their heads to look at her, she snuggled against Yang Mo contentedly before sullenly say, “When I grow up later, I can also walk home by myself.”
Yang Mo: “En.”
This was the one time of the day that Yang Han looked forward to the most. Therefore, she really enjoyed going to elementary school.
If when the two of them walked to the car and Han Shi Yu, who was often away on business trips, would appear in the driver’s seat like a surprise – then little Yang Han would feel like she was the happiest child in the whole world.
Some of her classmates were envious of her, “Yang Han, you’re so lucky that your parents are free to pick you up every day.” Those words made Yang Han happier than getting a perfect score in her exams. It was a happiness that this girl had been missing out on for many years.
She liked her own name and really, really, really loved her two dads. She couldn’t use any flashy vocabulary, only filling up the space in her essay book with a lot of ‘really, really, really love them’.
However, being “clingy” wasn’t something exclusive to little Yang Han.
Han Shi Yu and her daughter went from friends to “enemies” after they discovered that the other was stickier and clingier than they were.
Both of them felt their position as a ‘clinger’ become threatened, so they started a secret, unspoken fight between themselves.
The first thing that Han Shi Yu did when he got home from a business trip was to pull Yang Mo into a hug and kiss him. Once his energy had been replenished, he would either sink into the sofa and watch TV or look for his daughter on a whim and ask for kisses on his cheeks.
But recently, Han Shi Yu suddenly realized little Yang Han refused to kiss him anymore. He pointed at his cheek, but the little girl pretended she didn’t get it and turn away.
Han Shi Yu: “?”
Yang Mo came out from the kitchen as Yang Mo walked over to him. She followed behind him and with an upturned happy tone, she said, “Dad, I got a perfect score on my math test this time.”
Yang Mo wiped his hands before taking the test paper that was handed to him by Yang Han who was full of expectations. He then got forcibly dragged by Yang Han to sit on the stool as she massaged his shoulders lightly.
Yang Mo raised an eyebrow, “How about the rest?”
Yang Han: “I got 58 for my language essay, it’s the highest I’ve gotten so far.”
He patted Yang Han’s head a little before picking up a piece of roasted meat on the plate with a toothpick and sent it into Yang Han’s mouth. “You did great. Keep it up.”
Yang Han chewed on the roasted meat while nodding up and down without stop.
Yang Mo asked again, “What did you write in your essay?”
Yang Han leaned over and whispered it in Yang Mo’s ear. Yang Mo’s face showed some surprise before it slowly turned into a soft smile.
Han Shi Yu sat on the sofa and watched on, “……”
After finishing all that she had to do, the little girl walked back with a content smile. It looked like little red flowers were blooming behind her.
Han Shi Yu exchanged gazes with Yang Han and picked up a hint of provocation in each other’s eyes.
Han Shi Yu suddenly called out, “Mo!”
Yang Mo, who just got up, turned around again. “What is it?”
Han Shi Yu said, “I also got a perfect score today.”
Yang Mo: “…Scram.”
