Jialong and his sister found a seat at the back and scanned the students in the front seats. They were all wearing the uniform of Saint Ying Academy. The girls wore white short-sleeved tops and ultra-short skirts with black tights, while the boys wore neatly tailored white shirts and black trousers and leather shoes, looking uniform and tidy.
These students were divided into many groups, chatting and laughing continuously.
Not long after getting on the bus, the vehicle stopped again. Two more students from the academy got on. This happened several times, and soon, two handsome boys with charming smiles got on the bus. One was slender and tall, the other was robust, and both exuded confidence, immediately drawing the attention of some girls on the bus.
Jialong sat next to his sister and noticed that Ying'er's gaze was also unconsciously drawn to the two boys who got on. He compared himself and shook his head helplessly, glanced at the two boys, and then looked away.
There were many ordinary boys like him sitting in inconspicuous positions on the bus. In contrast to the two outstanding boys, they were just there to make up the numbers.
Jialong turned his face to look out the window. The clean gray-white streets were lined with black street lamps, and most of the buildings were ordinary white cement houses, with the occasional white stone house. The style was somewhat European. Cars occasionally passed by from the side.
"Mom and Dad said that next week you don't need to go home directly. You can eat at school. They have some company matters that require them to be on a business trip, and they might not be back for a week. They said we should take care of ourselves," his sister suddenly said in a low voice.
"Okay, I got it," Jialong nodded, speaking in his usual tone. "By the way, your exam ranking improved a few places last time, didn't Dad buy you a stuffed bear?"
"So what?" Ying'er turned her head away, ignoring him. "If your grades improve, Mom will buy you a gift too."
Jialong smiled and said no more. Suddenly, he noticed that five pale red data points were slowly appearing in his field of vision. They were represented by strange symbols, and although he didn't recognize the symbols, he knew their meanings.
Jialong's smile immediately faded, and he looked around quickly. No one seemed to notice his unusual state; those who were laughing continued to laugh, and those who were chatting about school gossip continued to chat. His sister took out a history book and began to study quietly.
"What is this? A benefit of being transported to another world?" Jialong had read many novels where the protagonist would gain some benefit after being transported to another world. He thought he wouldn't have it, but it turned out to appear now. He focused on the five symbols in his field of vision.
He concentrated on the five symbols at the bottom of his field of vision, moving his lips slightly and reciting them in his mind. "Strength 0.31, Agility 0.22, Constitution 0.27, Intelligence 0.32, Potential 25%."
As he recited the meanings of the five symbols, a brief residual memory instantly flowed into his mind.
Jialong suddenly closed his eyes and sat silently in his seat. After a moment, he slowly opened his eyes. "It's actually a superpower of a soul that has undergone electric shock, possession, and ultimate mutation?" He clearly recalled the entire process of the power's mutation and formation, which involved countless coincidences and complex changes that were hard to understand.
"If this potential is fully filled, it can directly increase the first four attributes?" Jialong looked at the 25% potential, feeling a bit incredulous. "Isn't this just like playing a game? Being able to change your attributes at will in real life."
He was very clear that in this world, where technology was backward and wars were fought with a combination of cold and hot weapons, if his superpower could really increase his attributes, his future would be beyond what ordinary people could imagine.
"But, could it be a hallucination...?" Jialong laughed at himself. "Maybe I've just been thinking about superpowers too much."
The bus suddenly stopped.
"Here we are, everyone get off," the driver, a bearded man, shouted loudly, turning around.
The students on the bus began to get off one by one. Ying'er nudged Jialong, a reminder, and then got off with her backpack and books.
At the edge of a large circular green lawn, black buses steadily parked by the grass. Students from Saint Ying Academy, dressed in white tops and black bottoms, were getting off the buses.
At the end of the lawn stood a large building with a white base and dark yellow patterns, with a square dome in the center and two tower-like buildings on either side. In the distance, more buildings of similar style could be seen. Many students were moving back and forth, and among them were some teachers in all-black uniforms.
At the edge of the lawn, a sickly-looking, thin boy with purple hair and red eyes, looking listless, got off one of the black buses.
Jialong roughly surveyed the facilities and scale of the academy, then looked behind him. A tall white iron fence surrounded the entire campus. The buses had entered through a white iron archway and were now slowly leaving after unloading the students.
"It's not much different from schools on Earth," Jialong followed the other students toward the buildings on the lawn.
"Jialong is in Class 12 of the first campus..." Following his memory, he quickly followed the crowd to the left side of the large campus, paused in front of a trapezoidal building, and then walked up the stone stairs.
On the second floor, the second classroom had a brass plaque hanging that read "Class 12."
Jialong walked in with two boys, then walked to the back window seat and sat down, putting his backpack in the desk. He then focused on studying the five attribute symbols in his field of vision. After all, he had only been in this class for a semester and, being introverted, had no friends.
The first class was math, taught by a middle-aged woman with a cold expression. The content was at a primary school level, and Jialong listened for a few minutes before doing his own thing. The next class was literature, teaching the country's language, writing, and some classic literary works, which Jialong also ignored.
The third class was etiquette. Jialong kept testing the connection between his body's state and his attributes. Suddenly, he felt the potential percentage in his field of vision twitch, as if it had trembled.
He was startled and looked around, but saw nothing unusual, then looked up at the podium.
On the podium, the etiquette teacher, a man with an elegant mustache and glasses, stood with impeccable posture, exuding a natural elegance. "Personal grooming represents the respect you have for others, and jewelry is an important part of this. Last class, we discussed gold and silver accessories. Today, we will continue with gemstones and how to wear them."
The etiquette teacher was a man with a refined mustache and glasses, standing with perfect posture, giving a natural and elegant impression. "Now, let's pass these jewels around for everyone to see. Nobility is not just about material wealth, but mainly about inner nobility. Self-discipline, elegance, self-respect, responsibility, courage, and other qualities, combined with a good image and attire, make up true nobility. If you just spend money lavishly and have superior material conditions, you are just a nouveau riche."
Jialong sat at the back, watching as the box was passed down row by row. Before he could react, the pale red attributes in his field of vision began to change. The last attribute, potential, started to increase slowly, from 25% to 26%, like a second hand ticking up.
Jialong watched with wide eyes as the box was passed down. Most students just glanced at it, clearly used to such jewels and not finding them remarkable. Only a few students showed excitement when they got the box, mostly those from less affluent backgrounds.
After about ten minutes, the redwood box finally reached the student in front of Jialong.
The student in front was a slightly overweight boy with glasses. He casually flipped through the box and then turned to pass it to Jialong. "Here."
"Thanks." Jialong carefully took the box. As soon as he touched it, he felt a tingling sensation, and a cool breath from the box slowly flowed into his body through his fingers, like the cold air from a refrigerator, continuous and unending.
He quickly put down the box and reached inside, and a black-red pearl appeared before his eyes. "It's this..." He gently picked up the black-red pearl, and the cold breath became even stronger.
In the attribute bar in his field of vision, the potential percentage shot up like a drug, from 26% to 50% in less than ten seconds, then to 80%, and finally to 100%.
At the moment it reached 100%, Jialong felt the black-red pearl in his hand dim slightly, as if it had aged.
He quickly put the pearl back in the box and carefully passed it to the last student on his right. Even so, the box had been in his hands for a long time.
The student was a red-haired girl with a ponytail. She frowned and glanced at him indifferently, took the box without looking, and passed it to the student in front.
Jialong knew this girl; her name was Aifei, and she was a student from a similar background. Unlike him, Aifei was a good student, very disciplined, and even a bit rigid in personality. Like Jialong, she had few friends in class.
Ignoring the girl, Jialong focused on the potential percentage in his field of vision. An indescribable energy was swirling in his eyes, something that appeared only when potential reached 100%. He had a premonition that if he concentrated on one of the other four attributes for three seconds, this energy would surge into that attribute.
"It seems I'm not hallucinating... I really have this superpower!" Jialong was excited. Having lived for decades, he suddenly found that his childhood dream of having a superpower had come true, and even with his calm nature, he couldn't help but feel a bit overwhelmed.
"So, which attribute should I add this energy to?" Jialong's gaze moved back and forth over the four attributes.
Strength, Agility, Constitution, Intelligence.
