Chapter 9

As for why Ye Wujì only cultivated these three basic ninjutsu techniques and did not cultivate any other ninjutsu, after all, none of these three techniques are offensive. In fact, Ye Wujì also wanted to practice offensive ninjutsu as soon as possible. The best defense is a good offense, and prolonged defense will eventually fail. These principles, which Ye Wujì understood very well from his previous life's knowledge, made him very eager to practice offensive techniques. Moreover, he had long been envious of the offensive effects of ninjutsu.

Unfortunately, since Minato did not bring any chakra test paper, he had no way of knowing what type of chakra Ye Wujì had or what ninjutsu would be suitable for him. Therefore, Minato did not teach Ye Wujì any other ninjutsu.

In the world of Naruto, it seems that ninjutsu cannot be used recklessly. This "recklessness" means that if you do not have fire chakra, you cannot use Fire Release techniques. The specific consequences of this, Ye Wujì did not dare to ask Minato too deeply, so he did not know what the consequences would be. However, from what he had seen in Naruto, it seemed that if you did not have fire chakra and tried to use Fire Release, you simply couldn't release the technique, with no other consequences. In other words, if you did not have fire chakra and tried to use Fire Release, it would be a waste of effort, like heading in the wrong direction.

Thus, Ye Wujì walked this road for four days without seeing a single soul. "Are there so few people in this world? How can there be a road like this with no one on it?" Ye Wujì looked around; all he saw were roads, mountains, and trees. "Did I take the wrong direction? Maybe the road on the other side is the right one." Ye Wujì was torn for a while, but if he turned back, wouldn't the four days be wasted?

Ye Wujì looked back at the road behind him and then at the road ahead. In the end, he decided to continue forward; turning back now would be a loss.

As noon approached, Ye Wujì looked at his empty pocket. The dry rations he had prepared a few days ago were gone. It seemed he would have to go into the forest to find food again. He was tired of eating grilled food all the time, but with no other choice, he had to fend for himself.

"Pretty good luck," Ye Wujì thought happily as he watched the wild rabbit roasting over the fire. Because he had been tricked by a wild rabbit before, he had been hunting them for food whenever he saw one. This time, Ye Wujì learned from his previous mistake and shot the rabbit with a kunai.

As the rabbit in the fire slowly turned golden brown, Ye Wujì knew it was almost done. "Regardless of other things, my grilling skills are pretty good. If I went back to Earth and opened a barbecue stand, I bet it would do well and make money quickly." Ye Wujì thought as he took out some seasonings and sprinkled them on the rabbit.

After putting out the fire and preparing to eat the rabbit, a "howl" came from behind him. Ye Wujì quickly turned around and picked up a wooden kunai. As for the kunai Minato had given him, he kept it close to his body. This was a decision he had made when he started on this road. A child carrying such a good weapon would attract too much suspicion. Although he was small, he could handle one or two ordinary people, but if there were more, he would be in trouble. Even if he could run away, if he caught the attention of someone with ill intentions, it would be problematic. From what Ye Wujì knew, many people in Naruto liked to kidnap children, with Orochimaru being the worst, and even Madara was not an exception.

Ye Wujì got into a defensive stance and then saw what was in front of him: a dirty, grayish dog, so thin that its bones were visible, with blood on its body, limping slowly toward him, leaving a trail of blood.

Seeing this small dog, Ye Wujì laughed to himself. He had been too tense; such a small dog posed no danger. He put down the kunai and prepared to eat his lunch.

Just as Ye Wujì was about to eat the rabbit, he felt something watching him. He looked to the side and saw the dog looking at him with a pitiful expression, its eyes fixed on the golden-brown rabbit in his hand, drooling. "Damn dog," Ye Wujì cursed in his heart.

Ye Wujì was about to ignore the dog's gaze. "I haven't even eaten yet," he thought. Even if he couldn't finish it, he planned to take the leftovers with him.

Ye Wujì brought the rabbit to his mouth, about to take a bite, while the dog just watched with that gaze, not making a sound.

"Hmm," Ye Wujì took a deep breath and couldn't bring himself to bite the rabbit. "Damn, it feels like I'm committing a heinous crime. Fine, I'll just get another one. You can have this one," he muttered to himself and then handed the roasted rabbit to the dog.

"Since I'm doing a good deed, I might as well do it thoroughly," Ye Wujì thought as he saw the dog's leg still bleeding. He tore a piece of cloth from his already tattered clothes to bandage the dog's leg.

When he picked up the dog, he realized it wasn't gray but covered in dirt, making it look gray. For now, he ignored the dirt and focused on bandaging the dog's leg.

When Ye Wujì lifted the dog's hind leg, he saw that the wound was already inflamed and had started to fester. He examined the dog more closely and confirmed it was an ordinary dog with no special qualities, except for its high intelligence and human-like behavior.

However, the wound was clearly caused by a shuriken. This dog didn't seem like a ninja dog, yet it had been injured by a shuriken. Most importantly, the dog had survived. If it had been injured by a ninja, a competent ninja would not have missed with a shuriken unless they intended to only injure the dog's leg. But what was the point of injuring such an ordinary dog?

Thinking about it, Ye Wujì decided it was probably an accident, maybe a stray shuriken.

Ye Wujì took out the kunai Minato had given him and carefully cleaned the dog's leg, then used his chakra to treat the wound and wrapped it with the cloth.

The dog was really good; it didn't make a sound while Ye Wujì treated its wound. When he used his chakra to check, he found no chakra traces, confirming it was not a ninja dog.

"Great, having such an intelligent dog as a companion might make the journey ahead easier," Ye Wujì thought as he cleaned the dog's fur. He had initially hesitated to help the dog but now decided to take it with him.

After cleaning the dog's fur, Ye Wujì realized it was a brownish-yellow dog, looking very cute, especially with its big, watery eyes full of curiosity.

Fortunately, the dog's appetite was small, leaving Ye Wujì with about half of the roasted rabbit. He picked up the rabbit the dog had bitten, thinking about throwing it away but decided to eat from the part the dog hadn't touched. "When did I start sharing food with a dog?" he thought, but his hunger made him ignore this. This wasn't like his previous life on Earth; in this world, sharing food with animals was common.

However, Ye Wujì didn't notice that after the dog finished eating, it slowly went into the forest. When Ye Wujì finished eating, he realized the dog was gone.

At first, Ye Wujì had planned to eat only the part the dog hadn't bitten, but as he ate, he realized how hungry he was. He had been eating dry rations and fruits for days and hadn't had much meat. Before he knew it, he had finished the rabbit.

After eating, Ye Wujì was a bit panicked, knowing that dogs carry many viruses. If he got sick, it would be bad. But he quickly calmed down, realizing that this world was different. Even if there was such a thing as rabies, with chakra, it could be eliminated. Besides, he hadn't heard of anyone in Naruto getting sick, only injured. While diseases certainly existed, something like rabies probably didn't.

In the ninja world, many people used dogs as summoning animals. They were cheap, easy to raise, and very practical. Dogs have a keen sense of smell, making them useful for tracking, and their senses are also strong, allowing them to detect powerful enemies. They also have some combat ability, making them the preferred summoning animals for ordinary ninjas. Most ninjas with summoning animals had dogs or snakes, which are easy to catch and train.

Of course, rare summoning animals were not easy to obtain. Kakashi's summoning dog was unique, and Kiba's dog was a family secret. As for the summoning animals of the Three Great Sages, they were even harder to come by. This would be discussed when Ye Wujì obtained a summoning animal.
