Chapter 6

I don't know how long it has been.

The chaos in the forest finally subsided, and the corpses that had been crazily tearing at people all fell down, leaving only a series of heavy breaths.

Zhou Jia leaned against a large tree, drenched in sweat, feeling weak all over. He couldn't even hold the frying pan in his hand, which slipped to the ground.

"Brother!"

While resting, a dark figure approached and patted his shoulder with a large hand:

"Amazing, you took out five or six corpses by yourself. The energy you gained should be on par with a wolf-headed monster."

The man was broad and fat, wearing casual clothes, and smiled as he offered a cigarette:

"Want one?"

"I don't have that habit." Zhou Jia waved his hand and sat down on a protruding tree root nearby:

"I didn't count, but I'm sure I didn't do as well as you, Brother Han. Fortunately, you were here, or who knows how many more people would have died."

His voice carried a sense of relief and admiration.

Han Yonggui was the fat man who had killed three wolf-headed monsters earlier.

This time, facing the mutated corpses, he was once again at the forefront, drawing attention, and took down a small group of corpses by himself.

At the time, he held a club in one hand and a car door in the other, smashing away at the group of corpses.

The corpses he took down numbered around ten.

Without him, the chaos would have lasted much longer.

"I was just lucky, having some good fortune earlier." Han Yonggui put the cigarette in his mouth but didn't insist, puffing away as he said:

"Unfortunately, we ended up in this hellhole. Otherwise, with my strength, I wouldn't have to run sales every day."

"Ah!"

"Who knows if it's a blessing or a curse."

Saying this, he patted his fatty body.

He was 1.8 meters tall but didn't look that tall, mainly because he was too fat, a result of years of sales work and accompanying clients to meals.

His weight of over 200 pounds offered no advantage in modern society, but here, it greatly increased his chances of survival.

Of course, his base was already strong.

Some people say,

The most powerful martial arts star in China is Hong Jinbao, and the reason is his weight, which puts him in a unique category.

Ancient generals often had pot bellies, and there was a reason for that.

The two chatted for a while but soon lost the urge to talk, watching the people in the area cry and panic, their expressions filled with confusion and uncertainty about the future.

This damned place!

"Fatso, Zhou Jia."

Huang Jinfu walked over:

"Someone suggested separating the injured people. What do you think?"

"Separate?" Han Fatso was taken aback:

"Why separate? Who suggested it?"

"That guy over there, Guo Xingzhang." Huang Jinfu pointed to a somewhat plump middle-aged man in the distance and continued:

"Someone said these corpses might be like zombies in movies, and those bitten might mutate, so we need to be cautious."

"This isn't a movie!" Han Fatso frowned instinctively, glancing at Guo Xingzhang's position with displeasure:

"He's just trouble."

"That's not entirely true." Huang Jinfu shook his head:

"Safety first."

"For safety, I think we should burn these corpses first." Zhou Jia spoke up, pointing at the corpses on the ground:

"What if they come back to life again?"

No one knew why these corpses had come back to life. They could move even when dead, and losing their heads didn't guarantee they wouldn't wake up.

"Right!" Huang Jinfu's expression turned serious:

"That makes sense."

He then arranged for the corpses to be gathered and prepared for burning.

He must have held a management position in the city, organizing people efficiently and leading by example, which made him well-liked.

A moment later.

With the flames rising high, the remaining people stood up one by one. The firelight illuminated their faces, showing sadness, confusion, and pain, each with a different expression.

In the end, the group voted and decided to temporarily separate the injured from the uninjured.

Huang Jinfu found a red blanket, cut it into strips, and gave one to each injured person to tie around their arm.

They would also monitor the situation constantly.

If anything changed...

They would deal with it as it came.

...

In the forest, cars were scattered haphazardly, the chaotic tire tracks indicating the earlier chaos, with numerous vines and branches covering the vehicles.

Here, a luxury car worth over a million and a cheap car worth a few thousand were no different, both were just scrap!

"Snap!"

Han Fatso removed a car door and handed it to Zhou Jia:

"If we encounter danger, this should be better than your frying pan. Even those wolf-headed monsters can't break it."

"Take it!"

"Okay." Zhou Jia nodded, took it, and then looked at the stick in Han Fatso's hand, curious:

"Brother Han, where did you get that stick?"

The stick in his hand was about a meter long, thinner at the grip and extremely thick at the other end, like a large knot.

It looked heavy and substantial.

Especially the grip, which was smooth, and the striking end had irregular protrusions, suggesting it wasn't just a random find.

"This thing." Han Fatso waved the stick and said:

"I took it from a wolf-headed monster. Don't underestimate it; it's very hard and not heavy."

"Took it?" Zhou Jia's expression changed.

"I know what you're thinking." Han Fatso, clearly a heavy smoker, lit the cigarette with one hand and puffed away:

"Those wolf-headed monsters might have... the ability to use tools, but since they eat people, they can't be dealt with kindly."

Zhou Jia nodded silently.

He was just afraid that if the wolf-headed monsters could make such a stick, they might be capable of making other things or even forming organized tribes.

If that were the case, encountering them again would be troublesome.

"By the way." Han Fatso interrupted his thoughts:

"Have you felt a burning sensation in your body?"

"Burning sensation?" Zhou Jia shook his head:

"What is that?"

"A kind of..." Han Fatso frowned, unsure how to explain, and gestured with one hand:

"How to put it, it's a feeling of suddenly becoming stronger, breaking through some... limit, like this!"

Saying this, he suddenly punched the side beam of a nearby car.

"Bang!"

A dull sound echoed, and the hard side beam was dented by his punch.

You see, this part of the car is one of the hardest, designed to withstand impacts, and this was a domestic car with solid materials.

"Ouch..."

Han Fatso winced and rubbed his fist:

"Damn, looks like my fist isn't hard enough."

Zhou Jia was stunned. If that punch had hit a person, it would have likely punched right through their stomach!

"Don't be envious."

Han Fatso recovered, patted his shoulder, and said:

"You should be close too. Kill one or two more wolf-headed monsters, and when you feel that burning sensation, you'll be able to do it."

"Not just strength..."

"Your resistance and speed will also improve dramatically. In our world, without training, you could be a top boxer."

"Without weapons, I can take on ten ordinary people now!"

Although in this strange world, the future was uncertain, the tangible strength in his body still excited Han Fatso.

Zhou Jia hadn't rested much in the past day and night, his nerves always on edge, and he wasn't fully aware of the changes in his body.

Now,

Han Fatso's performance finally made him realize.

He clenched his fists, and a sense of power surged from his muscles, spreading throughout his body, even deforming the handle of the frying pan.

This power...

Though not as strong as Han Fatso, it was enough to kill a person with one punch!

"Fatso, Zhou Jia." In the distance, Huang Jinfu called out:

"Come over and discuss the next steps."
