Chapter 5

Zhou Jia felt that he had a terrible nightmare.

In the dream, he was on his way home when he unfortunately got into a car accident, encountered a monster, saw dead people, and even arrived in a world with three suns.

Especially the woman named Tao Hong, who died with her eyes wide open and a strange expression, seemed so vivid in the dream as if it were real.

Fortunately, it was just a dream, and life would continue as usual after waking up.

His parents and girlfriend were still there.

In a daze, a slight tug on his sleeve startled him awake, only to realize that life had not continued, but the dream had instead extended.

"Dead people... came back to life?"

Dai Lei's words were full of contradictions.

Living people cannot be called dead, even if they are still breathing, and the dead naturally cannot come back to life, otherwise, how could they be called dead?

The fragrance from the woman's hair made Zhou Jia dazed for a moment before he came to his senses.

The first thing he saw was a sky filled with dark red light.

Looking up, he saw a red moon hanging high in the sky, its eerie red glow illuminating the earth, making everything visible look sinister and terrifying.

A red moon?

Indeed, this place was probably no longer Earth!

After witnessing the wolf-headed monster and the three suns, the red moon no longer moved Zhou Jia.

Cheng Qi and Chen Hui were huddled together on a blanket nearby.

Even in their sleep, they still held hands, which was why Dai Lei woke him up first when she noticed something strange.

"Where?"

"Over there!"

The dim red moonlight, combined with the dense forest branches blocking the light, made it difficult to see. Mo Qiu had to squint to make out the slowly moving figures.

Many people had died in the wolf-headed monster's attack.

Including the monster's corpses, there were about thirty to forty bodies, scattered in the open areas of the forest.

No one would tend to the corpses.

Even if there were, there wouldn't be that many.

"First, wake the others." Swallowing hard, Zhou Jia spoke in a low voice, while picking up a frying pan and standing up cautiously.

After yesterday's experience, he was no longer as panicked when encountering strange things.

The resurrection of the dead was indeed bizarre, but their appearance in such a place was beyond the scope of previous experience.

With a rustling sound, Chen Hui, Cheng Qi, and Su Qiang were woken up one by one.

Not only did Dai Lei notice the abnormality.

There were people on guard in the crowd, and they also woke up their companions, and everyone looked at the place where the bodies were in the dim red light.

Under the hazy red light, the figures scattered and moved toward the group.

Their steps were unsteady and slow, and a faint "huhuhu" sound could be heard as they approached, making the scene particularly eerie.

As they got closer, everyone could see the figures clearly, and some could hardly contain their excitement.

"Uncle?"

"Brother Liang?"

"..."

"Tao Hong?"

Zhou Jia gripped the frying pan tightly, his face pale.

The person indeed was Tao Hong, but her eyes were lifeless, her face pale, and there was a hole in her chest, making her look anything but alive.

"Tao Hong!"

Su Qiang approached cautiously:

"Can you hear us?"

Although he had a crush on Tao Hong, he was naturally cautious in this bizarre situation and extended the steel rod in his hand first.

The steel rod was nearly two meters long and was already thrust forward before the figure got close.

"Something's not right!" Cheng Qi pulled the two women behind him and whispered:

"Don't let her get close."

There were plenty of sticks in the forest, and he held one, gripping it tightly and staring at Tao Hong's reaction.

The two women hugged each other, their faces full of fear.

"Okay."

Su Qiang nodded and held the rod:

"Tao Hong, stop, can you hear me?"

Tao Hong twisted her neck, stiff like a machine, her lifeless eyes scanning the crowd. Suddenly, her mouth opened, and she lunged at Su Qiang.

"Huh..."

"Huh..."

A strange sound came from her mouth, and her body lunged forward.

"Stop!"

Su Qiang shouted, gritting his teeth and thrusting the rod forward without hesitation.

This was not the time to be gentle.

Su Qiang was taller than Tao Hong, and the rod should have hit her chest, but she leaped, and the rod stabbed her abdomen instead.

"Poof!"

The steel rod was not just hard but also sharp.

With both parties exerting force, the rod pierced Tao Hong's abdomen, penetrating about half a palm deep, likely rupturing her intestines.

Even so, Su Qiang had no intention of letting go, only gritting his teeth and shouting:

"Tao Hong, stop, or else..."

"Poof!"

A dull sound.

Tao Hong, after being stabbed in the abdomen, showed no change in expression and continued to lunge forward, allowing the rod to pierce her abdomen and drag out her intestines.

Her body then approached Su Qiang.

"Oh no!"

Zhou Jia's face changed, and just as he was about to step forward, something else lunged at him.

"What is it?"

Startled, he reflexively swung the frying pan.

"Bang!"

With a powerful strike, the thing was sent flying, and Zhou Jia saw what it was.

It was the dead wolf-headed monster.

It had been hiding behind Tao Hong, and its small size, combined with the darkness, had kept it unnoticed.

"Ah!"

At the same time, Su Qiang's scream echoed.

Zhou Jia turned his head, and his face changed.

He saw that "Tao Hong" had approached Su Qiang, grabbed him tightly, and bit into his neck.

Her bite force was terrifying, far exceeding what it was when she was alive.

Together with his collar, a large piece of Su Qiang's neck was torn off, and she continued to bite and swallow.

"Stop!"

"Separate them quickly!"

Zhou Jia and Cheng Qi rushed forward, one pulling and the other hitting with the frying pan, trying to separate the two.

With Su Qiang's frantic struggle, even a strongman at the Olympics would have been forced apart.

But Tao Hong continued to bite, even as Zhou Jia smashed her shoulder and Su Qiang, in a panic, tore out her internal organs.

At this moment, the small wolf-headed monster interfered again.

"Get lost!"

Zhou Jia roared, swinging the dented frying pan wildly.

But every time he knocked the small monster away, it would lunge again, even with broken limbs, barely affecting its movements.

Until.

"Bang!"

The wolf's head exploded under the force of the frying pan, red and white splattering everywhere, and it finally fell silent.

At the same time, a weak current of energy entered Zhou Jia's body.

"Huh?"

Zhou Jia was stunned, immediately regaining his senses:

"Aim for the head!"

Saying this, he gritted his teeth and smashed Tao Hong's head.

He had avoided this direction to prevent hurting Su Qiang.

"Bang!"

A dull sound, Tao Hong's once beautiful face instantly distorted, blood, flesh, and teeth flying out of her mouth.

This blow finally made Tao Hong release her grip.

But it wasn't because of Zhou Jia's strength; it was because Su Qiang, with half his neck bitten off, had already died.

"Ah!"

Zhou Jia's eyes turned red, and he swung the frying pan wildly.

"Die!"

"Die!"

"Bang!"

"Bang!"

"Bang..."

Under his frenzied strikes, Tao Hong's head was shattered in an instant, her brain splattered on the frying pan, and her body fell, another current of energy entering Zhou Jia's body.

"Help quickly!"

"Hit the head, hit the head, hitting elsewhere is useless!"

"Ah!"

The sounds around him made Zhou Jia shudder, and he looked around to see chaos.

Not only had the piled bodies turned into monsters, but those whose loved ones' bodies were nearby were also in immediate danger.

"..."

Seeing this, Zhou Jia shook his head to clear his mind and rushed toward a nearby body, shouting:

"Hit the head, smash the head to kill them!"
