"Two hundred thousand?!" Su Nan cried out in shock.

The middle-aged woman glared at her fiercely and said, "What, do you think it's too much? If you think it's too much, wake up my mother-in-law, and I won't ask for a single cent from you!"

At this point, even if Su Nan were foolish, she would have realized what was happening.

This middle-aged couple had planned from the beginning to extort her and demand compensation!

If they had asked for a smaller amount, Su Nan, to protect her clinic's reputation and avoid trouble, might have accepted it. But these two were demanding a huge sum, twenty thousand, which was like robbery!

Although her clinic was doing well and could provide a comfortable living, she had only been in business for less than a month. Where would she get the money to pay them?

Su Nan's face turned ashen, and she hugged her daughter tightly, shouting, "I don't have two hundred thousand!"

Hearing that she had no money, the middle-aged woman became furious. She reached out and slapped Su Nan, shouting, "You fox spirit, trying to haggle with me! Two hundred thousand, not a cent less!"

Being slapped in front of so many people, even if Su Nan were stubborn, she couldn't hold back her tears. Her eyes, which were already red, overflowed with tears as she covered her face and said, "I really don't have the money! Even if you beat me, I don't have the money!"

"Don't hit my mom, don't hit my mom..." The little girl's cries were heart-wrenching.

The middle-aged woman's thick eyebrows furrowed, and after a moment's thought, she said, "If you don't have the money now, write an IOU! You can pay later."

Su Nan refused, saying, "I won't write an IOU. I still stand by what I said. We can go to the hospital for a fair assessment. If it's my fault, I'll find a way to give you two hundred thousand. But if it's not my fault, I won't give you a penny!"

The middle-aged woman was thoroughly enraged. She reached out to grab and scratch Su Nan, cursing, "You fox spirit, dreaming! You killed someone and now you won't admit it. If you don't give an explanation this year, don't think about leaving this clinic. I'll smash it to pieces!"

At her command, the several men who had come with her also started cursing and threatening, smashing tables and chairs.

Su Nan quickly bent down, using her body to protect her daughter from being hurt, and cried out, "If you keep this up, I'll call the police!"

"Call the police? I'd like to see you do it! Even if the police come, you won't escape!" The middle-aged woman slapped and cursed, mixing her voice with the cries of Su Nan and her daughter, creating a chaotic scene.

The onlookers, however, did nothing to stop the situation. They could see that something was wrong, but they were unwilling to get involved and risk trouble.

This was the common attitude in society: mind your own business to avoid trouble.

Jiang Fei, at first, was quite happy to see someone causing trouble for his competitor, thinking his luck was really good.

But as the situation developed, especially when the little girl ran out crying, he frowned and felt uncomfortable.

Even if Su Nan was his competitor, she was still a woman with a child, vulnerable and alone.

Jiang Fei wanted this beautiful young woman to stop competing with him, but this... seemed to be going too far!

Seeing this mother and child being bullied by a group of people, how could he, a grown man, remain indifferent?

The group causing trouble was busy hitting and smashing things, and the elderly woman on the stretcher was now being watched by only a young woman.

"This woman is really stubborn, refusing to give in even to the death! But she's also quite foolish. Doesn't she know how to be flexible, temporarily agree, and then report the police later?" Jiang Fei thought to himself.

Seeing the events unfold today, his view of this young woman, who always wore black stockings and high heels under her white coat, had changed a bit.

Sighing, he walked over to the elderly woman and squatted down, placing his right hand on her pulse.

"What are you doing?!" The young woman asked cautiously, trying to push Jiang Fei away.

Jiang Fei smiled and said, "I'm a doctor from the clinic across the street. I want to check the pulse of this elderly woman to see how she's doing."

The young woman sneered, "Oh, you're that doctor from the clinic across the street that has no business and is about to close! Even the doctors at the city hospital couldn't help my aunt, what can you do?"

After saying that, the young woman didn't stop him and let him take the pulse.

Jiang Fei smiled.

The moment his fingers touched the elderly woman's pulse, a picture appeared in his mind.

Patient's condition: Ruptured cerebral blood vessel! The patient has been unconscious for twelve hours and will die within two hours if not treated.

Comprehensive cause: Hypertensive cerebral hemorrhage, also known as a stroke in traditional Chinese medicine.

Suggested treatment: Acupuncture. A level six acupuncture technique can temporarily save the patient's life and wake them up, but it won't fully recover. After waking up, the patient will be paralyzed in the lower body and will have motor, cognitive, and speech and swallowing disorders.

"Indeed, it's not a medical accident!" Jiang Fei had a good idea of what had happened.

As a doctor, Jiang Fei knew a lot about strokes.

A sudden rupture of a cerebral blood vessel couldn't be caused by ordinary medication prescribed by Su Nan.

This elderly woman must have been a hypertensive patient who had recently been emotionally unstable and agitated. She had an episode while sleeping and was found unconscious and near death by her family in the morning.

The middle-aged couple, having already visited the city hospital, knew what had happened to their mother. So when Su Nan suggested legal action, they became afraid and started causing trouble.

From the beginning, they wanted to use their mother's death to extort money from Su Nan, not to go through legal procedures.

"Two hundred thousand. Quite a big appetite." Jiang Fei muttered.

Honestly, from a competitor's perspective, he didn't want to get involved.

The onlookers, seeing Su Nan and her daughter being bullied, did nothing, just watching for entertainment. How much more would they do for a rival?

If Su Nan were dealt with by this middle-aged couple, her clinic would close, and he would have no more competition, making him the biggest winner.

Unfortunately, just like three months ago in the hospital when he saved Lin Molie, although his rational side told him not to, his emotional side drove him to act.

"Stop, everyone stop..."

Even without learning martial arts or leveling up, Jiang Fei, being a tall man, had some strength.

He quickly pushed through the crowd and reached Su Nan, who had been pulled by the hair and had tears and bruises on her face, and her white coat was already dirty.

At this moment, although Su Nan was severely injured, she was still protecting her five or six-year-old daughter from harm.

"Who are you! Daring to meddle in my affairs, are you tired of living?!" The middle-aged woman, who had been pulled away by Jiang Fei, was very angry and glared at him. She had several men behind her to back her up, and she was determined to get what she wanted, fearing no one.

Su Nan, on the other hand, had barely stopped crying and looked up at Jiang Fei with a tear-streaked face, surprised, "It's you?"

Competitors are natural enemies.

Especially when they are close competitors, directly competing with each other.

Jiang Fei knew Su Nan, the young woman who liked to wear black stockings and high heels; and Su Nan, of course, knew Jiang Fei, the young and handsome doctor.

She had been extremely angry and sad.

She was held tightly by the middle-aged man and had her hair pulled by the aggressive woman, unable to call the police. She had hoped someone would stand up to help her and her daughter, and she would be grateful.

But no one helped, not even a word of pleading. Finally, someone stood up, but it was her competitor!

She never expected it.

Su Nan wasn't stupid. She knew that since she opened her clinic, Jiang Fei's clinic had seen a sharp decline in business. He must have hated her to the extreme.

If it were a normal person, seeing her in such trouble, they would be laughing in their sleep, let alone helping her.

"I'm a doctor from the clinic across the street. I saw the whole thing and have something to say," Jiang Fei said with a smile.

"A doctor from the clinic across the street?" The middle-aged woman sneered and threatened, "I don't care who you are, get lost! Otherwise, I'll smash your clinic too!"

Jiang Fei's face turned cold.

This woman was a bully!

Shaking his phone, Jiang Fei said, "Go ahead and smash it. But I've already called the police. If you do, you'll have to pay me in full. I don't even want to run my clinic anymore."

Not only the middle-aged woman, but the several men behind her also changed their expressions.

They didn't want to deal with the police, especially since they lacked the confidence to back up their actions.

"You brat, are you looking for trouble? Even if you called the police, do you think I can't deal with you?!" A man with a tattoo on his arm stepped forward, clenching his fists.

Jiang Fei's lips twitched. Seeing such a physically strong and seemingly gangster-like man, he was a bit intimidated and didn't want to provoke him.

Getting involved with such people, even if you call the police, won't guarantee your safety. They will find a way to retaliate.

"Damn! If I had leveled up or learned some martial arts, I'd show you what I can do!" Jiang Fei thought.

Ignoring him, Jiang Fei handed a small pack of tissues to the young woman and said, "I'm not looking for trouble. I just think the elderly woman is not in a coma due to a medical accident, but because of a stroke."

"Bullshit!" The middle-aged woman's eyes flashed with panic, and she cursed, "Who do you think you are? The doctors at the city hospital said it was a medical accident, and you say it's not?"

"I say it's not, so it's not," Jiang Fei said calmly.

"Why not? Can you wake up my mother-in-law? If you can, I'll believe you. If you can't, get lost and let this fox spirit pay up!" The middle-aged woman shouted, trying to scare Jiang Fei away.

Jiang Fei waved his hand, "Since you put it that way, I'll give it a try. Maybe I'll get lucky and wake her up..."
